I'm pretty sure Kemp would win in the race vs him and Ossoff, given the trend, but if Kemp doesn't step into the race and it's MTG, that's a whole different story.

Can't argue that. I can argue the microphone and the audience. Every time MTG grabs it -- read the room -- most GOPers are all raised eyebrows and bowed heads. Most seem embarrassed. She's our red-headed-step-child. And when she spits her rhetoric it gets posted here and responded to by everyone, including me.

Jazmin is different. When she grabs the mic, all the dems look around at each other wondering when they should start clapping, wondering when the cue will come to respond a certain way.

Namely race (and the race to make everything ra-cist), climate change and the woe-is-me-everyone's-a-superstar-every-feeling-must-be-spared b.s. And every time one of your loud-mouths grabs a megaphone you sit on your hands and abide, no matter how ridiculous.

Jaz has said some of the craziest ish I've ever heard over the past few weeks. As soon as I uttered a word, I was called a racist. And I've not seen a single person here call out the crazy for what it is. You can't -- she's a black woman -- you're all afraid to respond out loud. Your entire party is.

It's going to be a long, long road to reinvent this mess.

I think some of the things she says are disgusting. What baffles me more than anything is why the party who just helped elect the most disgusting politician I have ever seen to the presidency finds pointing out disgusting behavior from another politician something they of all people have room to point the finger at.

It's as if when they elect the fringe to be the head of their party it's normal yet when someone else does it they find it disgusting.

The tone has been set that the more disgusting you are the more success it will lead to in politics these days. Now that the democrats are beginning to play the same game you find that offensive?

I think maybe you overstate how much the non-MAGA pay attention to JC... especially if you're lumping me into that group when you say "your party".

That said, I wasn't disagreeing with your overall point (I think). I was merely pointing out why MTG came into the convo. IMO, Jazmin "grabbed the mic" because other dems just... weren't. That's not a defense of her. It's me pointing out how impotent/weak the dems are right now. Bernie, AOC, and this one (that makes the first two look reasonable by comparison) are the only ones showing anything right now.

I'm not saying she'll "go somewhere", that's not what I mean by face of the party. Admittedly, the term is misleading. I'm just saying you and yours won't do anything to take the mic away... and that just means you're losing more votes.

I think that's the whole problem with the party -- absolutely shedding votes in a way that is unsustainable. And nobody with the balls to say "shut up and act your age". Sadly, the only ones I see delivering that timely message are Bill Mahar, Stephen A and Charlamagne tha God. And they're doing it with an eloquence you can't ignore, yet the entire party does. We've reached the comic strip portion of this epic demise, and still the drum beats on.

It's just like a "bystander" in that video above yells... "This is why you guys lost".

IMO, you have one shot in '28 -- Josh Shapiro. That's the only possible return to sanity. But he's a white man, he'll have to tear the mic out of their hands while the party tells him he's splintering it and screams about more racism. Either that or there will have to be a coup behind the scenes that somehow removes the far-left ideology, at all costs, and is able to pick up the pieces and move toward a damned quick rebuild.

Well you did make progress in the eyes of FATE. You went from "your party" to "you and yours". This is how it's described if you don't walk lock step in line with trumpian teachings and try to hold a rational conversation.

I think it's a reflection of where the democrats are at this point. That said, it's not something I would worry too much about. The DNC kneecapped Bernie twice, and (IMO) he's seen as much more of a viable potential candidate than AOC.
As far as how I feel about them... I will give them credit for one thing. I believe that they believe that what they say/go for is in the best interest of the country. I rarely agree with their stances/platforms, but not feeling like I have to question their motives is almost a breath of fresh air. That said, that's not an endorsement but rather an indicator of how far the bar has dropped.

As far as the best path forward... your guess is as good as mine. I feel like it's been half of a term already and it's not even April. A lot can (and will) happen over the course of the next 3.75 years. But since we're talking about this now, I think the DNC knows it has to appeal to those middle, more independent voters and their answer is to keep trotting out the Bidens and Clintons and the like.

add: I also think that if MAGA keeps going at this pace, they'll be their own undoing in 2028. They've already started taking down DoEd, VA, SS, and if in 3.75 years we only have "concepts of a plan" of how it's supposed to work post-teardown you're going to see an even more extreme voter response than 2024. If you think Vance or anyone else orbiting Trump has the spine to pick up wherever Trump leaves off... I don't see it. Elon? Maybe Trump embraces the dictator label and paves the way for a third term?

Great points about Sanders and AOC. 100% agreement. I don't think dems fully understand the damage to the party, especially the exodus of younger voters, when they did that to Bernie. In favor of one of the most unlikable candidates ever in Clinton? Terrible long term damage because they thought the short term was in the bag. Then... they did it again.

BTW, as crazy as it sounds, next presidential debates are T minus 2.33 years. Dems will need to be in lock-step coming out of that with a strong candidate. Vance will be a force to reckon with unless this whole four years turns to ish. If Tulsi is his running mate, it may be lights out regardless. Just my meaningless two-bit opinion as we sit here today.

I'll just say this -- the sad truth is the dem playbook will be to grind everything to a standstill. If they're not careful with the timing, that may bite them in the butt when the campaign trail starts a'blazin'. It may be better to move aside, open the doors wide and hope there's a poopshow. See, but I don't really see anyone chastising MTG in that same vein either. She's actually picked up more momentum in her own right. I do hope for the sake of both parties that people like that emphatically get put back into the fringe. I DO think that there will be a huge power vacuum in 2028. Trump for all his flaws galvanizes the party, pretty forcefully, to follow in line behind himself. We saw what a mess the Republicans can be when he's not at the forefront with the debacle that happened in the House in the fall of '23. Obviously, that same type of leaderless power vacuum exists right now with the Dems.

Either it works itself out in 2026 with the Dems finally realigning themselves proactively, or it does so via a red wedding if they lose their shirts again in the midterms. I think what we see between now and then may involve a lot more chaos with people like nutso here. I do think the Special Election in PA is showing that there is opportunity to regain ground if they can put more people like Buttigieg, Kelly, Shapiro, Beshear, et al at the forefront.

Conversely, give me someone like Kemp or Kinzinger (won't happen) on the Right I'd sure feel a hell of a lot better.

In terms of my long-term hope for our two-party system, I thought for sure the GOP would be the first to implode and have to build itself back together. I firmly believe that whichever party is the one that does is and dislodges itself from its entrenched leadership will enjoy a long and successful run once it can put itself back together. Now I'm not so sure.


As far as dem's playbook... if that's what they're doing, then they suck at it. Could be incompetence or it could be apathy... hard to tell these days. They don't look like they're putting up any sort of fight on the budget and that's (afaIk) their best opportunity to make a little noise. I don't think they'd be worried about it biting them in the butt... as it seemed to work out well for MAGA.

Anyone on either side that has any sense of balance and common sense would be a refreshing change.
