2nd Round pick in 2021 of the Chicago Bears. Has played and started in quite a few games. He grades out well in PFF but is injury prone and has missed quite a bit of time. He is known as a mauler when on the field. Is this a flier on a 27-year-old? Or a signing before making a trade dealing perhaps Teller? Jenkins has also started games for the Bears at Left Tackle. So, like Bitonio he has ability to move outside in a pinch. My thought is whether a flier to see who he is, or attempting to get younger and replacing Teller if he can stay healthy he should be a good pick up.

I thought people were saying the Browns can't sign top-end players because they lack cap space.

I know he had a neck injury. Not sure how that happens to a O lineman but it isn't a normal injury. He has cleared the medicals so I assume he will be good there. The others were ankle deals, probably rolled on. Kind of a random thing IMO. We'll see. He was a 2nd round pick out of Okie St, so he played good competition. It could be a very good signing.

I know nothing about him, but if he is a top player then we have a traffic jam at guard. Does this mean Teller is going away? Will Jenkins be a back-up? If he is a back-up then clearly not a top player

If he is a back-up then clearly not a top player I think he was starting at LT at times and at guard. Is he a top player? Probably not that, but he is probably viewed around the league as a good player, meaning he could probably start for half the teams in the league. Just a solid starter or A+ back-up.

I believe he is a top-ranked guard. The Bears moved him from LT to G.
If I had to guess, the Browns want him to compete for the LT position. Jenkins is too good to sign as a backup. The guard positions just got interesting.

Great Depth for LT and LG/RG.... could be the First backup at both guard spots and possible Starter at guard next season if he pans out for us this year.

I agree that the Browns didn't simply sign him to be a depth player. As you said, he has started at LT and has played guard as a starter. We have questions at both positions. I don't know if he will start, or if we plan to move off some player somewhere down the road, but it is a good signing no matter where he plays or how much he plays.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Does anyone have the contract numbers on this one year deal? I can't seem to locate the numbers anywhere.

So far I think our FO has done a good job in FA. Hope we can do even better with the draft!

It seems like there is more to this to deal. Jenkins had an opportunity to sign and start for both Seahawks and Bengals and chose Cleveland. I will be really curious to see this contract. A post June 1st trade of Wyatt Teller is a possibility. Would save $7M in cap space and not have to give Teller a new deal. If just brought it for depth, is Zinter that far from being be ready to step in? I know he was absolutely abused last year, but this would be disappointing considering Zinter was a second round pick. If they did trade Teller and named Jenkins the starter that seems like a big risk given his injury history. Again, looking forward to seeing the contract details.

I want to see the contract numbers myself. But the bottom line is it's still only a one year deal.

That would be a good deal for a depth guy that can play multiple positions when called on.

I also read but do not total understand it that the Browns have void years built into this 1-year contract to easily extend this contract multiple years if they warrant him as a future starter for them.

Yeah I don't understand that either. Void years would mean he would be under contract for those years and the team would have the option to void those years.

Void years do not mean the player is still on the team. In fact, it's the opposite (unless a contract is renegotiated).
Void years are a way for GM's to lower the cap hit. Players like it because they get more cash up front and don't have to pay back bonuses if they retire, are injured, or get cut etc.
Hunter + Dart = This is the way.

Love this signing. We currently have Dawand Jones as our starter at LT who is still a relative unknown plus Bitonio may change his mind and decide to go ahead and retire and Jenkins gives us a viable option if either happens.

we like to have our 6th/7th OL as higher end backups, so this appears to be the case again
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
