According to your line of reasoning doing the right thing led us to the worse possible option imaginable. The likes of which we have never seen before. You still can't seem to grasp that.
Its interesting, at least to me, when looking at any situation said poster incorrectly believes he is the only one analyzing things deeply and from multiple angles and from a non politically partisan perspective. That rebuttal is often dragged out to justify oddly contrarian views that are, well just created to be contrarian or troll-like. . . .
But in any good alternative perspective a common base for questioning something be it mainstream or otherwise .... cui bono, who benefits? In the case of having a 2 party system with only 2 possible realistic options to vote foe POTUS, who benefits from abstaining or voting for an option that has absolutely zero chance of being elected??? Well this election it qas most definitely Trump. One could reasonably construct a vote for anyone not Harris was a vote for Trump .. I'm not going to. But certainly not voting Harris made it more likely.
Now, being an activist for change, finding ways to alter paradigms at the grass roots level? Sure. Knock yourself out ... But thats not what we are deling with.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
Yes, when so many people act such as yourself by not voting it makes a difference. I live in Tennessee. My vote really doesn't matter much but I don't use that as an excuse not to do what I can to stop the worse case scenario. Votes matter when they work together. Each vote is counted the same. They add up. Each and every person who uses the excuse "both sides suck" led us to where we are now. You are included in that group.
I get it. You think what you're doing is some noble grand gesture that is going to lead to some kind of change. But in the end it's all meaningless. Unless and until people with huge money work together to form a party that can compete on a national campaign level, all of the grand gestures in the world aren't gong to change anything. It takes millions upon millions of dollars to even run state races and compete in this day and age.
And after all of that, doesn't it make you wonder what those people with all of that money it would take to form such a third party have as their agenda? Are you really so sure that in the end that third party would end up being so different? Not in message but in deeds.
It sounds great to say that it's worth a try. But then million upon millions of us felt the same way about trying to stop trump from being elected. The difference is that actually had a chance of happening if people weren't so apathetic about stopping such a catastrophe that even they themselves knew was coming if they did nothing.

Trump sends letter to Iran on nuclear program: 'make a deal' or face US 'militarily'
President Donald Trump on Friday revealed that he has sent a letter to Iran warning that it can either "make a deal" with Washington, D.C., on its nuclear program or face the U.S. "militarily."
"I said, I hope you're going to negotiate, because it's going to be a lot better for Iran," Trump told FOX Business’ Maria Bartiromo on "Mornings with Maria," in reference to a letter he sent to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
"There are two ways Iran can be handled: militarily, or you make a deal," he said. "I would prefer to make a deal, because I'm not looking to hurt Iran."
Trump did not go into detail about what a nuclear deal with Iran would look like or how it would differ from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which was agreed to by the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, including China, France, Russia, the U.K. and the U.S. under the Obama administration, along with Germany and the European Union.
But Trump pulled the U.S. out of the JCPOA in 2018, effectively collapsing the agreement, and Tehran has since continuously violated the terms under the previous agreement. He again implemented a maximum pressure campaign against Tehran and just last month he signed an executive order on "Restoring Maximum Pressure on Iran."
"We have to do something, because you can't let them have a nuclear weapon," Trump told Bartiromo.
The U.N.’s nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, has repeatedly warned in recent months that Iran is pushing forward in its development of near-nuclear-grade uranium and now possesses enough uranium, if further enriched, to develop five nuclear weapons.
The Washington, D.C.-based Iranian watchdog, the National Council of Resistance of Iran, has also warned that it is not just the chemical components of the weapon that Tehran has been developing, but the technical ability to launch a nuclear warhead.
The Iranian regime has not yet commented on the correspondence that Trump apparently sent out on Thursday.
"I'm not sure that everybody agrees with me, but we can make a deal that would be just as good as if you won militarily," Trump argued, noting that time is running out to make a deal.
"I hope that Iran [is]…going to negotiate, because if we have to go in militarily, it's going to be a terrible thing for them," Trump warned.
Russia has reportedly offered to serve as a mediator in the U.S. talks with Iran, though Trump did not comment on whether that would happen.

Fear of Kamala is why lots of people voted for Trump. Fear of the other is a lousy reason to vote.
You think your prevention argument is a good one. That's what they spend millions of dollars trying to get you to believe. That's the game they've been playing forever. You aren't preventing anything. It's a constant game of prevent the other that only results in worse and worse outcomes becoming acceptable/unavoidable. It's bait and switch/sleight of hand, look over there while we rob you blind.
If we paint them bad, it makes us look good is BS.
No, I don't think its a grand noble gesture. I think its all I can do (short of futilely getting myself killed), and it is likely to fail because most people believe lies and propaganda. Doing nothing/writing it in isn't something I can live with. "I voted for the less horrible, horrible option" isn't something I will countenance for myself. If those mental gymnastics work for you, that's all yours.
"I voted for the other" is the empty gesture to me. Constantly defending the other/less, but still bad is unconscionable to me. If they're both bad, I'll say they're both bad.
I don't want a third party. I want to get rid of parties. Group think is the death of freedom. A binary system where you have to pick one with Billions of dollars of influence invested on both sides is not a good one.

No it's not. Neither is doing nothing until that changes. In some altered reality you seem to think that by you not voting it is going to change the system. It's not. The lesser of two evils was quite clear in this election. We are seeing the results of those who were in denial of that.
This wasn't a close call. This wasn't a case where people refusing to vote helped anyone except the very billionaire class your post railed against being in control. Giving them even more control certainly doesn't support your argument.

My argument wasn't to vote for Trump. It wasn't to vote for the other side that just peddles influence to other Billionaires.
It was to stop voting for lousy, bought and paid for one percenters that pretend they want what is best for you.
You keep voting for it, they'll keep providing it.
It wasn't a close call. Kamala wasn't almost acceptable to me. Just because Trump broke the scale doesn't mean Kamala wasn't towards the bottom of any rational one.
If either of the major party picks you as their choice, chances are I'm not picking you. Belonging to either group of sellouts is a black mark that's hard to overcome. Defending either party puts the nail in the coffin.
You mess with the "Bull," you get the horns. Fiercely Independent.
Who we elected President-- look it up, he claimed President Washington had to keep airports safe, he wanted to drop nukes on hurricanes, he found guilty in civil court of assaulting at least one woman, his university failed and was closed because it was basic fraud--- and as a business man- who would you trust Trump or Buffett- an old example- Buffett, during a 1991 Q&A session, was questioned by a Notre Dame student about Trump’s business difficulties. He responded by emphasizing Trump’s heavy dependence on borrowed money, which subsequently led to the bankruptcy of Trump’s Atlantic City Taj Mahal casino later that year. Buffett explained, “The big problem with Donald Trump was he never went right. He basically overpaid for properties, but he got people to lend him the money. He was terrific at borrowing money. If you look at his assets, and what he paid for them, and what he borrowed to get them, there was never any real equity there.” Buffett advised the students to emulate his own life as a blueprint for success in business and investing without the heavy reliance on debt.
Trump has never been a great businessman....historically- Trump didn't transfer power peacefully- so he ranks poorly with historians. We will see how we come out after just under four years this time. So far he seems to have possibly wrecked NATO over money, he says he's saving US lots by gutting many of our long lasting policies/ government agencies-- wonder if Social Security service will be hindered- millions of needy elderly could be hurt.....ain't he great.....time will tell.

I gotta disagree with you on that one bro. Lets start with this
"My vote really doesn't matter much but I don't use that as an excuse not to do what I can to stop the worse case scenario."
You see I did exactly what your saying yet you claim that lead us to where we are now. I disagree 110 percent. What got us to where we are now is falling in line like ducks and voting strictly for one party when in fact both parties do suck. The definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. THAT is what lead to this country being as screwed up as it is. People lining up and screaming at each other like petulant 3 year old children fixes nothing and BOTH sides only care about winning, not about the people. So please share why you think people not supporting candidates who don't support them makes this country any better???
Let me go beyond your idealism and give you a good analogy.
You know bad weather is coming. You can't stop weather from happening no matter how much you wish you could. But for the sake of this debate let's say someone gave you a choice about what kind of bad weather you were going to get? Let's say you got to vote on which bad weather you would get?
Your choice is between thunder storms and a tornado. It seems your logic says both are bad weather and you don't like either one. So you don't care enough about the difference between the two to vote.
This wasn't just like every other election. Sometimes I would actually agree with you that the difference isn't really that significant. This one was different and the contrast was sharp.

Rubio: 83 percent of USAID programs to be canceled
Contract terminations announced earlier this month will end grants for HIV treatments and prevention, tuberculosis, polio, malaria, Ebola and other diseases. Nutrition assistance for infants in developing countries was also stopped.
“USAID Missions around the world spent the weekend working around the clock — at the Administration’s request — drafting program descriptions to explain what we do and why it matters. We woke up Monday morning to find out the decisions have already been made, before we ever had a chance to turn anything in,” the authors wrote. “Please explain how this is a fair, transparent, or thorough review. Explain it like I’m five.”
While the Trump administration looked to dismantle USAID, it led to a wave of lawsuits. In an emergency ruling last week, the Supreme Court refused to halt another judge’s decision that ordered the administration to release the $2 billion in foreign aid payments already owed to other countries through existing contracts.
Ontario slaps 25% levy on U.S.-bound electricity in latest trade war volley
Surcharge will generate up to $400K per day to be used for worker, business supports: province
Ontario is imposing a 25 per cent surcharge on all U.S.-bound electricity as part of its retaliatory measures against U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs on Canadian goods.
The new levy took effect Monday and will add about $10 per megawatt-hour to the cost of power heading south, the province says. It will generate an estimated $300,000 to $400,000 per day, money that will be used to support workers and businesses hit by U.S. tariffs.
Ontario provides electricity to roughly 1.5 million customers in the northern border states of New York, Michigan and Minnesota. At a news conference in Toronto, Premier Doug Ford said the surcharge will cost the average household or business in these states an additional $100 per month on their power bills.
He added the magnitude of the levy could be increased if the Trump administration continues to escalate its trade war against Canada.
"Until these tariffs are off the table, until these tariffs are gone for good, Ontario will not relent. We will not back down," Ford said alongside Ontario Energy Minister Stephen Lecce.
Revenue from the surcharge will be collected on a monthly basis by the province's electrical system operator.
Last week, Trump temporarily paused implementation of 25 per cent tariffs on Canadians exports "compliant" with the terms of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) until April 2. But both Ford and Ottawa have said retaliatory measures will move ahead until the tariffs are lifted.
"Pausing some tariffs, making last-minute exemptions — it will not cut it. We need to end the chaos once and for all," Ford said Monday.
He also reiterated his previous threat to stop flows of electricity from Ontario to the U.S. altogether if the trade war lingers on.
Asked about a specific threshold that may compel him to take that step, Ford declined to be specific.
"If necessary, if the United States escalates, I will not hesitate to cut the electricity off completely," Ford said. "Let's just see how this rolls out. [Trump] changes his mind almost every single day."
During the news conference, Lecce noted that most of the year, Ontario sells many times more electricity from the U.S. than it purchases. Depending on energy demands in New York, Michigan and Minnesota, those states will sometimes then re-sell surplus electricity that originated in Ontario to other states, particularly along the I-95 corridor down the eastern seaboard.
When Ontario does buy U.S.-generated electricity, it is most often in the peak summer months. Asked if Ontario could face reciprocal surcharges come the warmer season, Lecce said the province's electricity system operator is "fully confident in its ability to keep the lights on" with power generated in Ontario and Quebec.

So much is happening-stuff like this executive order don't even get any news; more at link below
FIRST ON FOX: President Donald Trump is set to sign an executive order Monday that will put states and local jurisdictions in the driver's seat of preparing and responding to disasters, Fox News Digital learned.
"This Order restores state, local, and individual empowerment in disaster preparedness and response, and injects common sense into infrastructure prioritization and strategic investments through risk-informed decisions that make our infrastructure, communities, and economy more resilient to global and dynamic threats and hazards," details on the order obtained by Fox News Digital show.
The order emphasizes the role of states, localities and individual leadership over federal leadership while preparing for and coping with disasters — such as flooding or fires — and will "streamline" federal functions so local communities can more easily work with federal leaders in Washington, Fox News Digital learned.

Trump confirms retribution campaign against law firms that clash with his agenda
The president says his administration is ‘going after’ law firms he claims are ‘dishonest’ and ‘bad for the country’
Donald Trump is punishing law firms that have represented what he perceives as his political enemies by stripping their security clearances and access to government buildings, delivering severe legal retribution against people he believes are threatening his agenda.
“We have a lot of law firms that we’re going to be going after, because they were very dishonest people,” the president told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo in an interview that aired on Sunday Morning Features on Sunday.
“They were very, very dishonest. I could go point after point after point. And it was so bad for our country. And we have a lot of law firms we’re going after,” Trump said.
The interview aired days after he signed another executive order targeting a prominent law firm, which opponents fear is designed to cast a chilling effect that threatens representation for groups and individuals who are challenging the administration’s agenda in court.
Last month, Trump signed a similar measure attacking the firm Covington & Burling, which provided pro bono assistance to special counsel Jack Smith in his personal capacity as he handled federal criminal investigations into the president’s alleged election interference and unlawful retention of classified documents.
This time, the president went further by blocking lawyers with the firm Perkins Coie from federal buildings entirely and barring federal agencies and contractors from working with it.
His apparent beef with Perkins Coie dates back to a federal investigation into connections between Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russian agents to determine whether aides and officials had conspired to influence the outcome of that election. The firm represented Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee and worked with a research firm that produced the now-discredited dossier that alleged contacts between Trump and Russia.
Perkins Coie contracted Fusion GPS to conduct opposition research, which Fusion enlisted former British spy Christopher Steele to perform. Steele’s dossier, which was later turned over to the FBI, alleged Russia’s years-long campaign to compile compromising information against then-candidate Trump.
Now-former Perkins lawyers Marc Elias and Michael Sussman were both named in Trump’s order. Neither have worked for the firm in years. Since 2020, Elias has led the voting rights and civil rights litigation-tracking platform Democracy Docket, which has tracked hundreds of Trump-related cases.
“This is an absolute honor to sign,” Trump said during a signing ceremony at the White House on Thursday. “What they’ve done is just terrible. It’s weaponization, you could say weaponization against a political opponent, and it should never be allowed to happen again.”
A spokesperson for the firm called the order “patently unlawful” and said it intends to challenge it.
Last month, Trump signed a similar measure suspending security clearances for outside lawyers who supported Smith in his personal capacity.
The memo suspends “any active security clearances held by Peter Koski and all members, partners, and employees of Covington & Burling LLP who assisted former Special Counsel Jack Smith during his time as Special Counsel.”
During a signing ceremony, Trump called the memo the “deranged Jack Smith signing.”
Trump’s targeting of lawyers follows his administration’s threats to members of the judiciary, with Elon Musk and Republican members of Congress repeatedly threatening to impeach or punish judges who issue decisions that brush against their agenda, which judges across the country and ideological spectrum are condemning as unconstitutional, discriminatory and illegal.
After a string of legal blows against his orders and policy maneuvers, Trump issued an executive order this week that calls on agency and department heads to press for monetary “security” payments from plaintiffs if an injunction against the administration is issued.
That would mean plaintiffs – which have included civil rights groups, pregnant immigrants, trans teenagers and aid workers — would be required to pay the government’s legal fees, upfront, if a judge issues an injunction.
The American Bar Association has warned against the “escalating governmental efforts to interfere with fair and impartial courts, the right to counsel and due process, and the freedoms of speech and association in our country.”
“We reject the notion that the government can punish lawyers who represent certain clients or punish judges who rule certain ways,” American Bar Association president Wiliam R. Bay said in a statement this week. “We cannot accept government actions that seek to tip the scales of justice in this manner.”

Trump calls Tesla boycott ‘illegal’ and says he’s buying one to support Elon Musk
Trump said “radical left lunatics” are “illegally and collusively” boycotting Tesla, which the president described as one of the best automakers in the world. This action, Trump said, was meant as an attack on Musk and what he stands for.
It is not illegal for consumers to boycott companies. The Supreme Court in 1982 ruled the First Amendment protects Americans’ rights to protest private businesses.
Trump calls for boycott of more companies over Georgia voting law
Trump on Friday urged a boycott of "woke companies" that have taken a stand and Major League Baseball for moving its All-Star Game out of Georgia, adding: "Are you listening Coke, Delta." In his new statement, he said: "Boycott Major League Baseball, Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, JPMorgan Chase, ViacomCBS, Citigroup, Cisco, UPS, and Merck."

Thanks for giving me so much power. Hmmmmm my one little vote determines the outcome of our whole country. Gee I never realized I was that powerful. Was it worth it..... NO, but neither was voting for the left, OR the right. Our only choices are between two large steaming piles of crap. Both taste and smell like crap. So if one tastes better to you go ahead and eat it. I'm not eating what either side is trying to shove down our throats.
Now as far as this part "you have risked Social Security, Medicare and every other benefit, which you yourself depend on with your choice"
We had this discussion ad nauseam back in 2016 as well. My conscience will not let me vote for people who are all for murdering babies. Sorry... I know you don't have a problem with it. As for me on the day I stand before the Lord I don't want to stand there saying I put money ahead of saving innocent children. Do you???
Now you'll get your social security murdered. Giving people a choice isn't them murdering anyone. Besides you have the court the way yo want it now. That's why you said you voted for trump to begin with. To overturn Roe v wade. At this point you're just punishing yourself and the rest of us to punish yourself and the rest of us. Good job.
I'll have no problem addressing the Lord. I'll tell him everyone had a choice and that choice was between those people and him. Their choice wasn't mine to make. Meanwhile I stood with the poor, the elderly and the sick.
