Probably need a Free Agency thread.

Darnold is a key player because where he goes will have other ramifications.

The Titans from what I read have a legitimate interest in Darnold.

If they were to sign Darnold. A trade with the Browns would guarantee that the Titans could draft the highest ranked player in the draft. Rather than trade with the Giants where they could lose out on the player they want say Hunter or Carter.

It sounds like Rodgers will play for someone as well.

I am of the mindset that the Browns should be aggressive and trade up to one to secure Ward.

Obviously the Titans hold the power. If they love Ward not much can be done. I have no clue what their intentions are. Darnold would give them another option on how to build their team. I don't know their team and the holes they feel must be filled. Or, how their new management wants to build their team.

Darnold will only be 28 in June. His contract value will probably come out like two or three years at around $40 per year.

Darnold played really well during the year. Eyes of the beholder type thing has to what teams think of him.

The Browns don't have the money. I doubt he is a consideration.

If we don't get Ward at one or two. IMO we should trade out of the pick and try for Dart where it looks like we can get him.

I think we should put all effort into landing Ward and adjust from there if we cannot get him.

I read somewhere the Titans were only interested in Darnold on a cheaper one year deal. I'll see if I can track it back down.

Edit:

We'll see what happens when free agency opens. I'm not sure if any of the QBs in FA have as big of an impact on the draft as I had been thinking.

Darnold is the big chip because he is still young and coming off a 14 win season.

There are all kinds of "reports."

Just like all the other bs that comes out at this time of year.

Titans hold the first pick and we should at least try an pry it away from them if the Browns are all in on Ward.

I would mention Myles to them and see how they would react.

I want to come out of this draft with Ward.

I'd rather take Darnold on a 1 year rental than draft Ward or Sanders.

I believe that Ward has a 1% chance of making the transition into the NFL. His 3 step and release is slower than maple syrup during a Montana blizzard.

Blocking those who argue to argue, eliminates the argument.

Unfortunately, I don't think they are all in on any QB. I think they like several of them to varying degrees, but not any one enough to push all the chips in the middle. I can't say they are wrong in that evaluation. Or I could be wrong in their thinking.

I agree we don't know what's real this time of year. What happens with Darnold in FA should clear things up.

I was with you in thinking Darnold was the big get, but I'm not sure whether the league sees that way or not. The last impression was pretty brutal. At 28, having seen the years leading up to the good year, they may have decided the good was the aberration, and he is what he was in the playoffs and past years. Ghost prone.

Not really feeling Darnold. Smells of DW to me. I’m too worried that last year was his flash in the pan moment and his next team will go down sucking like his other years. Unless he can be had on a super team friendly contract with OUTS, I’m not interested in him at all. If he’s all that, why aren’t they keeping him? I mean, 14 games? Why would you let that walk if he was MOST of it? I get the browns with JOE because of his age… Not Darnold after 14 wins.

Darnold does not fit because we cannot afford him.

How he plays going forward is up for debate. There is good Darnold and bad Darnold.

He could be a good fit for a number of teams.

Titans, Giants, Raiders, Seattle.

Raiders might be the fit. ...If he doesn't end up back in Minnesota. Pete Carroll USC ties and just general optimism, Chip Kelly's sort of play fast offensive style would seem to fit, Vegas is close to where Darnold grew up in SoCal.

I didn't really think Darnold was an option here, but where he signs and for how much could say a lot about the other QB needy teams plans at QB/in the draft which in turn could have some bearing on our approach to the draft. If he doesn't sign the big contract some expect, that could mean the draft class is better thought of than perhaps portrayed in the media. If he does sign a big contract, it could indicate the draft class doesn't seem to have many/any answers in team's perspectives. Or it could just mean that's where a team saw his value, and they wanted to make sure they didn't miss out. We'll see.

Someone is going to hitch their wagon to Darnold and overpay for a long time.

I hope that it isn't us.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Exactly how much do you think 12 million dollars in cap space will buy you?

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
