Once again republicans are all in on sabotaging the current administration for storm relief. How despicable.

Mike Johnson won't commit to bringing House back before the election for more hurricane relief
In a letter to congressional leaders, Biden urged Congress to restore funding to the Small Business Administration’s disaster loan program as it faces potential funding shortfalls.

It really isn't a one sided thing. It is how they stay in power. One day you will realize it should be us against them, instead of letting them pit us against each other.

At some point there is a stark contrast. Sadly it has gotten to the point that contrast is now here.

Also a good time to point out since this is in the political forum, Project 2025 would abolish the NOAA, a vital resource that we use heavily down here. Have you seen the videos of them flying into the storm to get readings? It is some crazy stuff and gets us information that we rely on to stay safe.

Trump surrogates helped author project 2025, trump's name is mentioned over 300 times in project 2025 but he and his followers swear he knows nothing about project 2025 and will do nothing mentioned in project 2025. Some people simply believe everything he tells them even after he has lied to them over and over again since he came down that escalator in June of 2015.

FACT SHEET: 80% of House Republicans Release Plan Targeting Medicare, Social Security, and the Affordable Care Act, Raising Costs, and Cutting Taxes for the Wealthy

MARCH 21, 2024
link

In his State of the Union Less than two weeks ago, President Biden laid out his vision for an economy that gives the middle class a fair shot. He also warned that congressional Republicans “will cut Social Security and give more tax cuts to the wealthy,” that they continue to oppose the Affordable Care Act, and that they are siding with Big Pharma over hardworking families.

On Wednesday, the Republican Study Committee – which represents 100% of House Republican leadership and nearly 80% of their members – just proposed yet another budget that would cut Medicare, Social Security, and the Affordable Care Act , as well as increase prescription drug, energy, and housing costs – all while forcing tax giveaways for the very rich onto the country. Their plan would even raise the Social Security retirement age.

Like President Biden promised in the Capitol, “If anyone here tries to cut Social Security or Medicare or raise the retirement age I will stop them.”

He’s keeping that promise by standing against this new House Republican budget. He knows the last thing we should do is raid Medicare and Social Security while giving more giant tax cuts to the wealthy and big corporations.

What’s more, House Republicans’ plan would raise energy costs and send our new manufacturing jobs back overseas by gutting other crucial elements of the Inflation Reduction Act, raise housing costs, and allow big companies to rip off consumers with junk fees.

President Biden has a different vison for how we move into the future: make the wealthy, big corporations, and special interests pay their fair share while protecting and strengthening Medicare and Social Security. Extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits he delivered to lower health care costs and cover more Americans than any time in history. Making the economy work for the middle class by investing in America and the industries of the future, while lowering key costs that working families face. And expanding Medicare’s ability to negotiate lower drug costs.

80% of House Republicans released a Budget that:

Cuts Medicare and Social Security while putting health care at risk for millions

Calls for over $1.5 trillion in cuts to Social Security, including an increase in the retirement age to 69 and cutting disability benefits.

Raises Medicare costs for seniors by taking away Medicare’s authority to negotiate prescription drug costs, repealing $35 insulin, and the $2,000 out-of-pocket cap in the Inflation Reduction Act
Transitions Medicare to a premium support system that CBO has found would raise premiums for many seniors.
Cuts Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program by $4.5 trillion over ten years, taking coverage away from millions of people, eroding care for seniors, children, and people with disabilities, and taking us back to the days where people could be denied care for pre-existing conditions and charged more for health insurance simply for being a woman.

Rigs the economy for the wealthy and large corporations against middle class families

Passes $5.5 trillion in tax cuts skewed to the wealthy and large corporations, including permanently extending tax cuts in the Trump tax law, repealing the minimum tax on billion-dollar corporations the President signed into law, eliminating the estate tax for the wealthiest Americans, providing a massive tax cut for billionaire investors, and making it easier for the wealthy and large corporations to get away with cheating on their taxes.

Kills jobs and investment in communities throughout the country – including Red States – by eliminating the clean energy tax credits in the Inflation Reduction Act.

Makes it easier for companies and banks to rip consumers off with unfair and hidden junk fees by eliminating the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Raises housing costs by cutting funding for rental assistance, cutting funding for programs that help build housing, and raising mortgage costs for first-time homebuyers.

We'll either have someone in The White House with the power to veto legislation like this or we won't. And we know who will and who won't.

And that is just the tip of the iceberg. They want to gut FEMA also and change the national flood insurance program.

Unsurprisingly, Project 2025 has another vision for the future of American disaster preparedness. Under the Heritage Foundation’s blueprint for the next conservative administration, FEMA would be gutted.

On page 135, its authors suggest, “Privatizing … the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Flood Insurance Program, reforming FEMA emergency spending to shift the majority of preparedness and response costs to states and localities instead of the federal government, eliminating most of DHS’s grant programs.”

It also recommends that Congress change the cost-sharing agreement so the federal government only covers 25% of costs for small disasters, with the cost-sharing reaching a maximum of 75% for “truly catastrophic disasters.” That would likely leave poorer states and communities out to dry, unable to fully recover from disasters.

Additionally, Project 2025 recommends raising the per-capita threshold, a threshold used by FEMA to determine whether a disaster has caused enough damage to qualify for federal assistance. Along with knee-capping FEMA’s assistance programs, the blueprint suggests eliminating the Small Business Association Disaster Loans completely.

It's sad that a Republican congressman feels compelled to come out with fact checking all the lies being spread on social media about FEMA and the government response to hurricane Helene. We know who started all of this. We know the root cause of this. And sadly we know this man will pay a huge rice for telling the truth....................

Debunking Helene Response Myths
October 8, 2024
Press Release

Dear Friend,

Over the past 10 days, I have been proud of how our mountain communities have come together to help one another. We have seen a level of support that is unmatched by most any other disaster nationwide; but amidst all of the support, we have also seen an uptick in untrustworthy sources trying to spark chaos by sharing hoaxes, conspiracy theories, and hearsay about hurricane response efforts across our mountains.

While it is true, the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s response to Hurricane Helene has had its shortfalls, I’m here to dispel the outrageous rumors that have been circulated online:

Hurricane Helene was NOT geoengineered by the government to seize and access lithium deposits in Chimney Rock.

Nobody can control the weather.

Charles Konrad, director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Southeast Regional Climate Center, has confirmed that no one has the technology or ability to geoengineer a hurricane.

Current geoengineering technology can serve as a large-scale intervention to mitigate the negative consequences of naturally occurring weather phenomena, but it cannot be used to create or manipulate hurricanes.

Local officials have confirmed the government is NOT seizing Chimney Rock.

There was no “special meeting” held in Chimney Rock between federal, state or local governments about seizing the town.

Local officials are NOT abandoning search and rescue efforts to bulldoze over Chimney Rock.

Chimney Rock is NOT being bulldozed over.

Rutherford County emergency services personnel are going to extensive lengths to search for missing people, including in debris by using cadaver dogs to locate any remains of individuals trapped in the debris.

Just as every other community in Western North Carolina, Chimney Rock officials are focused first and foremost on recovery efforts, followed by plans to rebuild in the future.

FEMA is NOT stopping trucks or vehicles with donations, confiscating or seizing supplies, or otherwise turning away donations.

FEMA does not conduct vehicle stops or handle road closures with armed guards - all road closures are managed by local law enforcement who are prioritizing getting resources to their fellow community members.

FEMA has NOT diverted disaster response funding to the border or foreign aid.

Disaster response efforts and individual assistance are funded through the Disaster Relief Fund, which is a dedicated fund for disaster efforts.

FEMA’s non-disaster related presence at the border has always been of major concern to me, even before Hurricane Helene, and I will continue to condemn their deployment of personnel to the southern border, but we must separate the two issues
.
FEMA is NOT going to run out of money.

FEMA officials have repeatedly affirmed that the agency has enough money for immediate response and recovery needs over the next few months.

Secretary Mayorkas’ statement indicating otherwise was an irresponsible attempt to politicize a tragedy for personal gain
.
In the coming months, Western North Carolina is going to need more disaster relief funding than is currently available to assist with recovery efforts.

I’m confident that supplemental disaster relief funding, which I am already involved in the process of creating, will be considered in the House once we return to session in mid-November.
FEMA cannot seize your property or land.

Applying for disaster assistance does not grant FEMA or the federal government authority or ownership of your property or land.

The FAA is NOT restricting access to airspace for Helene rescue and recovery operations.

Nobody seeking to fly resources into Western North Carolina will be prohibited from doing so by the FAA or North Carolina Emergency Management so long as they coordinate their efforts with NC Aviation.

If you are looking to conduct an airdrop of resources but don’t know who to contact for approval, please reach out to my office and we will share that information with you.

FEMA is NOT only providing $750 to disaster survivors to support their recovery.

The initial $750 provided to disaster survivors is an immediate type of assistance called Serious Needs Assistance that may be made to individuals in need as soon as they apply for FEMA assistance.

The $750 is an upfront, flexible payment to help cover essential items like food, water, baby formula and medication while FEMA assesses the applicant’s eligibility for additional funds.

This award is just the first step of a longer process to provide financial assistance to disaster survivors in need of federal support.

As an application moves through the review process, individuals are eligible to receive additional forms of assistance for other needs such as temporary housing, personal property and home repair costs, etc.

I encourage you to remember that everything you see on Facebook, X, or any other social media platform is not always fact. Please make sure you are fact checking what you read online with a reputable source.

With my warmest regards,

Chuck Edwards
Member of Congress

These crazy conspiracy theories are what people are claiming is a free speech right. That sowing lies and chaos should be left unchecked. That social media has no right to control outright lies from being spread on their platforms.

The actions of Trump and Vance, LYING about Government Agencies doing their job in Florida and other areas hit, could get people killed. Hope they are held accountable.

There is a lack of Trust for Government agencies. NOAA, FEMA etc. so when they say, get out, there are those that don't trust them Then they stay... Hopefully they survive, but if not, who is responsible for telling them those lies?

And MTG, Gees, what the hell is wrong with her. Weather Machines? Really... She is NUTZ

Florida Republican suggests Greene have ‘head examined’ over hurricane claims

Florida Republican Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez suggested Wednesday that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) should have her “head examined” after she claimed humans can control the weather.

“Humans cannot create or control hurricanes,” Gimenez posted on the social platform X, as Hurricane Milton bore down on his home state. “Anyone who thinks they can, needs to have their head examined.”

Last week, as a number of Southern states began dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Greene wrote on X that “yes they can control the weather.”

“It’s ridiculous for anyone to lie and say it can’t be done,” her post said.

Greene posted a number of other claims over the past several days about the storm being manufactured.

Greene’s post is not the first time the Georgia lawmaker has posted about the weather. In April, she defended her claim online that an eclipse and an earthquake were signs from God telling people to repent.

Hurricane Milton is barreling toward Florida’s west coast. It is expected to make landfall late Wednesday and bring a life-threatening storm surge.

It’s the second large storm to hit in recent weeks, with much of the Southeast still recovering from Helene. The aftermath of that storm sparked a flood of misinformation online, and leaders are sounding the alarm that it’s complicating an already difficult recovery and response process.

Republicans, including former President Trump, have baselessly claimed the government is withholding aid from GOP hurricane victims and redirecting aid to migrants. These claims have been refuted.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency started a “Hurricane Rumor Response” page, where users can see debunked rumors about the agency’s response efforts to both Helene and Milton.

The White House launched a Reddit page with official updates for Hurricane Milton and the Biden administration’s ongoing response and recovery efforts.

The Hill has reached out to Greene for comment.

Meteorologists Get Death Threats as Hurricane Milton Conspiracy Theories Thrive
Lorena O'Neil
Wed, October 9, 2024 at 5:40 PM EDT·10 min read
2.4k

As Hurricane Milton approaches Florida, meteorologists are staying awake for days at a time trying to get vital, life-saving information out to the folks who will be affected. That’s their job. But this year, several of them tell Rolling Stone, they’re increasingly having to take time out to quell the nonstop flow of misinformation during a particularly traumatic hurricane season. And some of them are doing it while being personally threatened.

“People are just so far gone, it’s honestly making me lose all faith in humanity,” says Washington D.C.-based meteorologist Matthew Cappucci, in a phone interview conducted while he was traveling down to Florida for the storm. “There’s so much bad information floating around out there that the good information has become obscured.”

Cappucci says that he’s noticed an enormous change on social media in the last three months: “Seemingly overnight, ideas that once would have been ridiculed as very fringe, outlandish viewpoints are suddenly becoming mainstream and it’s making my job much more difficult.”

He says meteorologists and disaster relief experts have to strike a balance between putting out helpful, high-quality information while also squashing misinformation. “Nowadays, there’s so much bad information out there that if we spent our time getting rid of it, we’d have no more time.”

This hurricane season, Cappucci and the other meteorologists I spoke with say, conspiracy theories have been flooding their inboxes. The main one that people have seemed to latch onto is the accusation that the government can control the weather. This theory seems to be amplified with climate change creating worsening storms combined with a tense election year, and the vitriol is being directed at meteorologists. “I’ve been doing this for 46 years and it’s never been like this,” says Alabama meteorologist James Spann. He says he’s been “inundated” with misinformation and threatening messages like “Stop lying about the government controlling the weather or else.”

“For me to post a hurricane forecast and for people to accuse me of creating the hurricane by working for some secret Illuminati entity is disappointing and distressing, and it’s resulting in a decrease in public trust,” says Cappucci. He says he hasn’t slept in multiple days and is exhausted. This last week he received hundreds of messages from people accusing him of modifying the weather and creating hurricanes from space lasers.

“Ignorance is becoming socially acceptable. Forty or 50 years ago, if I told you I thought the moon was pretend, people would have laughed at me. Now, people are bonding over these incredibly fringe viewpoints.”

“An average hurricane’s life cycle burns through the energy of roughly 10,000 nuclear bombs,” says Cappucci, “The idea that we can even influence something like that, never mind direct it, is just so outlandish that it’s almost, sadly, funny.”

‘Murdering meteorologists won’t stop hurricanes’

Meteorologist Katie Nickolaou went viral after correcting a male commenter who tried to claim a category five hurricane can turn into a category six, at which point it becomes a tornado.

“Those are different storms with different processes,” clarified Nickolaou. “Though hurricanes can produce tornadoes, it doesn’t affect the overall categorical rating.”

Undeterred, he pushed back, insisting that “anything above a category five would be a tornado,” which is untrue. “I’m going to go scream into an abyss now,” Nickolaou tweeted in response. She tells me her tweet “struck a chord” with meteorologists and people tired of the misinformation.

There is no category six designation for hurricanes, she explains. Designations are based on wind speed, so there has been conversation amongst scientists that now that hurricanes are getting stronger, we need an additional category. But there are meteorologists that say adding a designation is unnecessary because a Category 5 already means nearly total destruction. They worry that adding a category six would decrease the significance of a four of five and impact people’s decision to evacuate.

“I put on armor every day to try to go online and make sure people aren’t saying things that could harm responses,” says Nickolau. She’s had to fend off rumors that meteorologists should just use giant fans to blow the hurricane away or try nuking it. “You get a person arguing that a hurricane turns into a tornado at a category six and your brain short circuits.”

“Stopping misinformation is becoming an exhausting part of the job which is taking away from spending time forecasting or sending out other information that could be helpful,” says Nickolau. She says her heart sinks when she sees a false post get millions of views because it’s virtually impossible to go back and fact-check it for everyone that’s seen it.

After our phone call, Nickolau received an even more troubling message on her page: “Stop the breathing of those that made them and their affiliates.” She responded that she would not allow people to advocate for murder. “Murdering meteorologists won’t stop hurricanes,” she tweeted. “I can’t believe I just had to type that.”

‘It beats you down’

Spann, the meteorologist in Alabama, has been doing this work for decades and says he can’t believe what he’s seeing unfold.

“Something has clearly changed within the last year,” says Spann. “We know some of it is bots but I do believe that some of it is coming from people that honestly believe the moon disappeared because the government nuked it to control the hurricanes, or that the government used chemtrails to spray our skies with chemicals to steer Helene into the mountains of North Carolina.”

He says the misinformation has gotten so out of control it’s distracting meteorologists from doing their jobs, which involves keeping people safe ahead of, during, and after a devastating hurricane. Spann posted a public service announcement on Facebook that went viral, asking people to stop flooding his page with conspiracy theories.

“We’re trying to push critical information to people that need it and people who are looking for a credible source,” says Spann. He sounds weary as he tells me that if people are going to push conspiracy theories, he wishes they would wait until after the danger has passed. As we’re talking he receives an email from a colleague telling him about an angry caller who demanded to be connected to the folks responsible for stopping the hurricane.

“It affects our mental health,” he adds, saying he’s spoken to the Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore and other meteorologists about it a lot this week. After Spann posted a FEMA website about rumor control, he got multiple private messages telling him to retire or personally threatening him. “You’re working with two to three hours of sleep for multiple weeks under a high stress situation and then you deal with these threats that come in, it’ll beat you down.”

‘It costs lives’

South Florida meteorologist John Morales made headlines this week when he cried on air while warning Floridians about how strong Hurricane Milton will be. For his part, he’s been getting overwhelmingly supportive messages on social media from people who share his angst and anxiety about the climate crisis. He’s been using the increased attention to spread awareness about global warming, climate action, as well as the dangers of misinformation.

“I’ve seen the reactions of climate dismissives for many, many years, and it’s become particularly vitriolic in the last year or two, especially on X,” says Morales, referring to the former Twitter. He’s Puerto Rican, and said that in Latin countries he’s heard the conspiracy theory that Americans control the weather, but now the belief has exploded.

“This is the post-truth era and these types of crazy beliefs aren’t just confined to your crazy Uncle Joe,” says Morales. “It seems to spread with greater ease and I am particularly alarmed that after Hurricane Helene it’s really spread and truly impacted the work of the emergency management agencies that are trying to help people recover and have to dedicate resources to dispel rumors and trample down on the type of stuff that sadly, even some politicians are spreading. It costs lives and dishonors first responders and civil servants.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene has doubled down on claims Democrats control the weather, prompting fellow GOP congressperson Carlos Gimenez to tweet she should “have her head examined.” Meanwhile, the White House is launching a Reddit account to keep the public informed on Helene/Milton response and recovery.

“Science is one of the few things that doesn’t care about politics,” says Cappucci. “If a tornado is coming down the road at you, it doesn’t check your voter registration.”

He says every October the bird migration causes fuzzy images on weather radars, but this year conspiracy theorists are convinced that these fuzzy images are actually caused by lasers heating up the atmosphere to create hurricanes. Some experts I spoke with think that misinformation is exceptionally bad this year because we are leading up to a presidential election. Some of the conspiracy theories accuse Democrats of intentionally steering hurricanes to red-leaning swing states, in order to hurt Donald Trump’s chances of winning.

“The 2024 misinformation is being fueled to a certain extent by political polarization,” says Sarah DeYoung, a professor at the Disaster Research Center at the University of Delaware. “I think that’s corresponding with there being a presidential election this year.”

DeYoung says there are certain myths that pop up for every disaster. Some of them are well-intentioned, like telling people that hotels have to accept pets in an emergency event, which is not true. Others are misconceptions, like saying looting goes up after natural disasters when in fact, the crime rate often goes down and people are just trying to locate basic essentials like food and water to survive. But in 2024, they are often politically motivated.

“It becomes particularly dangerous because it starts to rile up additional feelings of division and then the false information about FEMA funneling money towards immigrants, that makes people who are immigrants more vulnerable to potential acts of violence and backlash from those kinds of rumors.”

DeYoung says this harms both the people that need help and the people trying to help, by adding confusion, slowing down the recovery process and fomenting mistrust.

‘Platforms are not prepared’

Misinformation and climate change researcher Abbie Richards says she likes to look at the core emotions that drive conspiracy theories.

“When people feel really anxious, really powerless, really uncertain, those are the times where we expect misinformation to thrive,” says Richards. She says this is exacerbated with a big moment in the news cycle, and then even further inflamed by something as emotionally overwhelming as climate change.

“It’s a problem that by its very nature, makes people feel a wide range of pretty negative emotions — scared, anxious, uncertain — maybe guilty or conflicted if it’s something they’ve been denying,” says Richards. “We are mixing these giant events that are catastrophic and devastating with these big emotions and it’s really easy for people to fall into scapegoating and blaming conspiracy theories that provide really simple explanations for these super complicated problems.”

Richards explains that in order to regain a sense of control, people drink in whatever information they can get their hands on, even when it’s false. “Sometimes it’s the moon was nuked, but sometimes it’s also just people wanting to help and that can get us into bad situations, too — I’ve seen a lot of hoaxes spread in the name of awareness.”

She says she doesn’t criticize consuming news on TikTok because it is an excellent source for firsthand accounts of events that can fill a different emotional need for people. For example, Richards says TikTok has helped people understand the nuanced challenges of evacuating.

But, she says, social media change is needed.

“The platforms are just not prepared,” says Richards. “They are seemingly very unequipped to handle widespread misinformation that arises in the wake of these events. And if we’re going to learn anything from this experience, it’s that the platforms need to seriously invest in climate-related content moderation, because this is causing harm and it’s impeding relief efforts, and it could hurt people.”

It's the Trump affect.

. “There’s so much bad information floating around out there that the good information has become obscured.”

Noone works harder to put more disinformation and crap out there than Trump. I believe it's actually a strategy. Aided and more fuel added by the Likes of MTG, Alex Jones and posters on this very board.

Experts in complex fields are the enemy and everyone with an opinion and SM account thinks they know better. And label some one with an catchy derogatory name and never have to be held accountable for the nonsense they spew.

Yes I'm certain 'both sides' do.... But there is no comparison to Trump .

Experts in complex fields are the enemy and everyone with an opinion and SM account thinks they know better. And label some one with an catchy derogatory name and never have to be held accountable for the nonsense they spew.

Yes I'm certain 'both sides' do.... But there is no comparison to Trump .

Lots of folks push back on me for saying this, but I would like them all to go back and look for themselves, It is a strategy, it was one employed by Adolf Hitler in the 1930's. Now it's being employed by Donald J. Trump to take over America.

These freaks are so close to getting it. Yes, the storms ARE ‘man made’. Years and years of man’s dumping of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere has cranked up these storms into the massively destructive beasts they’ve become.
Instead these academic losers think man made space lasers and chem trails are to blame.
So close. Yet so so far.

I've learned not to think things couldn't get any crazier. Just about the time you start thinking that, they do.

Kind of like masks, they went so far right and extreme that they started to think they needed to wear one because the vaccine could be spread.

Supposedly my house is fine other than tree debris. Lost power at 2:07 am and the cameras came back online at 1:45 pm.

I see Harris inserting herself in to Florida business.

Plus, what's new here? When Covid hit the left went apecrap over everyting the republicans did for political gain.

Maybe some need to pay attention to the bimbo you see as a leader.

Also, I haven't seen anything, but maybe I haven't seen it yet about CBS and 60 Minutes editing an answer the VP gave. Just typical crap you people pull.

[1] Except it hasn't been Harris that's done that - it has been the Trumpites. We have the quotes and social media posts to prove it. So instead of speculating on what you think you might see - maybe comment on the Bullcrap that's been said by the Trumpies. Even |Republican politicians have felt the need to highlight the fake narrative and lies. C'mon dude.

[2] The reaction to covid wasn't political. It was based on a the crackpot response to a global health crisis and Trump deliberately downplaying the danger initially (although we only found out he lied about how bad he knew it was going to be until later) - it was about Trump not listening to the overwhelming opinion of those from the field and instead talking about it disappearing in the Spring, Using bleach and horse tranquilizers. Only those thinking they needed to defend the idiot in charge did people think it was "political".

I would just like to add one thing. There has been a developing pattern now from people on the Right that those of us are not paying attention, or that we see Harris as a "queen" or a "leader." The majority of posters I have seen on this board who will be voting for Harris have both lobbed criticism at her and/or have called out her weak points. The majority of us are voting for "bad" over "much, much worse" for reasons that have been enumerated constantly.

Harris indicated that DeSantis is selfish, which I think is what Peen is alluding to. That was stupid on her part. Is she likely doing it for political gain, hell yes. But DeSantis, who claims he doesn't have any time to talk to her, has time to go on Fox News to talk about it? Politics has been integrated into everything, including these hurricanes, and it's beyond shameful. Harris should not have gone on the attack whatsoever, though. That was awful. If she had done something like Biden did and just say "He's not picking up the phone. This is a problem" then fine, but she didn't do that.

I'm going to go a little harder in the paint now. Unfortunately what I think we are seeing is a projection. When it was called out that Trump was LYING about FEMA and lying about Helene, to the point where several REPUBLICAN governors had to counter his misinformation, we heard crickets on this board from the Right. And we will hear more crickets after I post this. We stop hearing crickets the moment Harris does anything and then she is referred to as a "bimbo." How can we be that adamant about calling one person out and not the other?? How do people not see this is the vicious cycle that created the horrid political situation we currently find ourselves in??

Well, I think it's because - especially among the older generations - there has been a reinforcement that we will find justification in the "R" or the "D" after a candidates name, regardless of who the person is, or how blatantly horrible they are. It's permeating to the younger generations, too, so I don't know how to get off the merry-go-round of misery.

And on top of all that, while they lob insults and names at her, she is the first candidate that I can recall that has experience in all three branches of government. She was a prosecutor. Not only a prosecutor but as the AG in one of our largest states as part of the judicial branch.

Secondly she served in the U.S. senate. Part of the legislative branch of government.

Then thirdly as vice president in the executive branch of government.

People can think what they like but that's a pretty rare and complete combination of experience by anyone running for the highest office in the land.

Maybe that's why Peen thinks she's a bimbo? So many men are fearful of powerful, qualified women.

No felony convictions. No jury has ever found she committed sexual assault. She has never tried to overturn our presidential election. Maybe those are the qualifications he is looking for in a candidate he feels she lacks. But then again that could be said for a lot of people.

By sending Covid testing machines? Ok....you need to remember we had a serious shortage of respirators, and Russia shipped up many, so I don't see a problem except the government controlled media...or maybe it's the media controlled government...at any rate, getting the whole story is important.

I am curious to see where this 60 Minutes story goes. Probably file 13 where everything they don't like ends up.

It will go nowhere. Just like everything else.

The cake has been baked, the frosting added.

I thought Jan 6 would be the end of Trump. Nope.

I seriously question those who would look the other way and vote for the sideshow.

These ventilators?...............

The U.S. Has Thrown Out Faulty Ventilators Russia Sent As Pandemic Aid

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has “disposed” of faulty ventilators donated by Russia that were manufactured by a company under U.S. sanctions as part of a lopsided exchange of medical supplies during the height of the pandemic.

In March, as coronavirus cases in the U.S. began to soar and states struggled with shortages of personal protective equipment and ventilators, President Donald Trump reached out to Russian President Vladimir Putin for help, who said he would send a military transport plane filled with medical equipment to the U.S.

The plane landed at New York’s John F. Kennedy airport in April, and the equipment, including 45 ventilators, was distributed to warehouses in New York and New Jersey.

But the Aventa-M ventilators were never used – they required an electrical voltage not compatible in the U.S., which means they couldn’t be used in the hospitals without an adapter that wasn’t readily available, Buzzfeed News reported, and just a few weeks later, the same model ventilator burst into flames in Russia, killing six people.

Due to the flattening curve the ventilators were not needed nor were they ever deployed to hospitals – they were later “disposed of following strict hazardous waste guidelines,” a FEMA spokesperson told Forbes.

The ventilators were manufactured by the Ural Instrument Engineering Plant, also known as KRET, which has been under U.S. sanctions since 2014.

In exchange for the April shipment, the U.S. sent $5.6 million in medical supplies to Russia over the following two months, including 200 ventilators – the shipment Russia sent the U.S. was worth around $1 million.

The ventilator's delivery was surrounded in a cloud of confusion. At first Russia said the shipment labeled “humanitarian aid” was “billed as free assistance,” but later Russia said it was charging the U.S. $660,000. The payment was scratched when the U.S. said it would reciprocate the gesture once its own manufacturing was up to speed. A few months later, the U.S sent $5.6 million in medical equipment to Moscow, with the U.S. Embassy in Moscow tweeting a video of a plane carrying some of the aid taxiing on the tarmac in Russia. Congressional Democrats railed against the lopsided trade, the fact that the donated ventilators came from a sanctioned company, and that the U.S. donated such a high number of ventilators to Russia when they could have been used in the United States.

Now that you actually know "the whole story", what do you call the part of the media that's controlling you?

Then do you have a problem with trump calling putin at least 7 times after he left office. Remember, trump was pressuring the republicans to stop sending money to Ukraine and also remember that trump had a crapload of classified documents that he took with him

Thank you Daman and others. She is doing ok-out of the hospital. My cousin drove down Sat morning to get her. They took a drive thru the development and posted the video yesterday. Lucky only 5 passed away-it was pretty bad damage.

I believe for the short term she is going to stay with my cousins family in southern West Virginia.

I don't know how long she will be able to stay there though-She has been in southern Florida for probably 30+ years and I don't know how she will be able to handle the change between southern Florida and Southern West Virginia.

I honestly think that there is a bigger issue here-It is the way that the fringe media outlets and especially social media is molding the young, the inept and the unread. Sure, trump is part of it, but I think it is much bigger than that.

EXCLUSIVEAdolf Hitler had 'some good ideas', a fifth of Gen Z Americans believe according to Daily Mail poll
Check out of the state of the 2024 race with DailyMail.com's poll of polls
By Wills Robinson For Dailymail.com

Published: 10:01 EDT, 12 October 2024 | Updated: 12:17 EDT, 12 October 2024

Adolf Hitler's reign of terror led to the murder of six million Jews in the Holocaust and the darkest moments in history.

There is little debate the Nazi dictator is one of the most evil men to have ever lived, with unprecedented depravity against people he didn't think worthy of living under the Third Reich.

Around 85 million people were killed during the Second World War, a devastating and bloody conflict sparked by his relentless pursuit of a global empire.

Yet, 79 years after he killed himself in a Berlin bunker, more than one in 10 (11 percent) of Americans believe the barbaric German tyrant leader had some 'good ideas'.

A DailyMail.com/J.L. Partners poll found that more than one in five (21 percent) of both Gen Z and black voters and 19 percent of Hispanic voters agreed with the statement.

A DailyMail.com/J.L. Partners poll can reveal that one in 10 Americans believe Adolf Hitler had some 'good ideas'

The survey asked 1,000 likely voters whether they think Hitler had some 'good ideas' or if he was 'evil and had no redeeming features.'

77 percent said he was 'evil', 12 said they were 'unsure' and a surprising 11 percent believe he had some redeeming qualities.

When broken down by age group, 21 percent of those under the age of 29 said Hitler had good ideas, compared with 16 percent of those between the ages of 30 and 49, seven percent for voters between 50 and 64 and just five percent for those over 65.

Fourteen percent of Donald Trump supporters said Hitler had some positive aspects, compared to nine percent of Kamala Harris.

'If you need an example of the corrosive impact that social media can have on younger Americans' view of the world, this is it,' James Johnson, founder of J.L. Partners, told DailyMail.com of the startling results.

The poll results seem part of a startling trend with Gen Z being more sympathetic towards some of history's most evil individuals.

Earlier this month, TikTok was forced to remove AI-generated and translated videos of Hitler's speeches that had racked up more than one million views.

In one heavily-edited clip, Hitler suggested he didn't want to the Second World War and essentially attacked when he had no choice.

While the cause of the conflict has been a focus of discussion for decades, it was Hitler's invasion of Poland in 1939 that prompted Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany.

The TikTok clip is also translated in a way to suggest the Fuhrer wanted to protect the lives of women and children.

In reality 1.5 million Jewish children were killed in the Holocaust. Tens of thousands of Romani (Gypsy) children and up to 7,000 German youngsters with physical and mental disabilities were also among the murdered.

A comment on one video that racked up 270,000 views read: 'AH was a good and kind man... this changed my views on him.'

One account with 20,000 followers found by Media Matters had four million views of 12 videos of Hitler speeches.

'Growing up is realizing Who the villain Really was,' text around an outline of Hitler reads on one of the posts.

The poll also raises the question of whether children and younger Americans are being taught the full extent of Hitler's systematic bid to annihilate the Jewish population.

A Pew Research poll in 2020 found that while half of U.S. adults knew what the Holocaust was and when it happened, but less than 50 percent could answer how many Jews were killed and when Hitler came to power.

In December, a DailyMail.com found that one in five young Americans had a positive view of 9/11 mastermind and Al Qaeda founder Osama Bin Laden.

The alarming survey also found three in 10 Gen Z voters believe the views of the anti-Semitic terrorist leader who slaughtered thousands of innocent people were a ‘force for good'.

Family members of 9/11 victims said at the time the findings were 'horrifying'.

A month earlier, anti-Israel TikTok users sent Bin Laden's 2002 'Letter to America' with his justification for 9/11 viral.

Some users said their 'eyes had been opened' and backed his claim that the attacks were a retaliation for the U.S. supporting Israel.

In the letter he also accused the American government of spreading AIDS throughout the world and described homosexuality as 'immoral'.

Another DailyMail.com poll from October 2023 found one in 10 voters under the age of 30 had a positive view of Hamas, despite the group's murderous attack on Israel that killed more than 1,300 men, women and children.
