Colorado Clerk of the Court-- she is perfect example of a person lost to Trump loyalty and blinded by conspiracy theories.

The verdict capped a trial that started July 30 with jury selection and spanned eight days of testimony. Attorneys for Peters argued she was only following her duties as clerk. Her defense made frequent references to unproven election conspiracies that drove Peters and her accomplices.

The allegations turned Peters into an icon among election conspiracy theorists, embraced by national figures including MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, who told The Colorado Sun in April 2022 that he contributed up to $800,000 of his personal wealth toward her legal defense.

Jurors were forced to choose between clashing portraits of Peters, with prosecutors portraying her as a conniving, law-breaking, publicity-seeking conspiracy monger who jeopardized Colorado’s voting system. To the defense, she was a dedicated public servant who was only trying to protect sensitive election information for her constituents — until she was steamrolled by a vindictive big government juggernaut.

Found guilty on five of seven felony counts-- she was completely unrepentant and was sentenced to NINE years in prison. She found not ONE illegal vote cast and cost the county more than a million dollars investigating, recounting, and judging. A huge waste of taxpayer money.

She claimed the Democrats and "Deep State" were after her. JMHO, she deserves every day and more that she will serve.

I posted this in another thread but since you started a thread on this particular topic I thought I would re-post it here. It gives more details about the story...............

Election denying ex-county clerk sentenced to 9 years for tampering with election equipment

Prosecutors have said former Mesa County, Colorado Clerk Tina Peters was "a fox guarding the henhouse."

A former Colorado county clerk who promoted 2020 election conspiracy theories was sentenced Thursday to 9 years behind bars for charges including official misconduct in connection with a security breach of Mesa County’s voting system.

“Your lies are well-documented and these convictions are serious,” Judge Matthew Barrett told Tina Peters before he handed down his sentence for the 2021 security breach, calling her a “charlatan” who used her time in office “to peddle snake oil.”

Peters was convicted of four felony and three misdemeanor charges in August for using another person's security badge to allow someone associated with MyPillow founder Mike Lindell, a prominent election denier and ally of former President Donald Trump, access to county election equipment.

The county's machines had to be replaced afterwards when data, including passwords for the machines, were posted online.

Peters was "a fox guarding the henhouse," prosecutor Jessica Drake said in her closing argument in August. "It was her job to protect the election equipment, and she turned on it and used her power for her own advantage."

Peters maintains she did nothing wrong.

"It is with a heavy heart that I hear the vile accusations and anger levied against me for what I did to protect the people of Mesa County," she told the judge before he handed down his sentence. She said she was simply trying to preserve information to make sure the election was secure, and asked the judge to sentence her to probation.

Matt Crane, executive director of the Colorado County Clerks Association, told the judge there were legal avenues she could have used to preserve the information she wanted without engaging in a "treacherous" scheme. He said her actions cost the county over $1 million.

District Attorney Daniel Rubinstein asked the judge to sentence Peters to maximum sentence, citing her lack of remorse. He also noted that despite her claims of widespread fraud, she never identified a single bogus vote.

County officials said her continued fraudulent election claims also led to a slew of death threats against election workers while she traveled around the country promoting her claims and ignored her actual duties. Peters denied the claims and said she called in to the office when she was not in the state.

Peters ran for secretary of state in 2022 after she was indicted, and was defeated in the Republican primary. She alleged fraud in that election as well, and demanded a recount after losing by 85,000 votes. The recount resulted in her getting an additional 13 votes — as did the overall primary winner, Pam Anderson.

Saying "win out" makes it seem like there was a struggle that happened between the two. It doesn't sound like common sense put up much of a fight in this person's brain.

Bro these people don’t realize that what they tried to do is worthy of treason. They try to overthrow an election, and continue to think there was nothing wrong with what they did.

Let somebody like me try that, and conservatives are lynching me in public square with a smile on their face, telling those “let him serve as an example to those who try to overturn democracy”

This slice of our citizenry erected a gallows on the steps of the Capitol and chanted how they wanted to hang the VP that was executing his Constitutional duty.

According to multiple (credible) news sources covering the events of that day, this slice of citizenry came within 40 feet (and a handful of seconds/minutes) of VP Pence, while he (and his family) were being evacuated from the Capitol building. There is video verifying just how close that slice came to snatching him up, and hauling him to that makeshift gallows positioned on the steps of our US Capitol.

The passage of time will never diminish my memory of that awful day.
America citizens attacked and laid violence upon the seat of our nation's governance.

It was every bit as egregious and repugnant as 9/11.
IMHO, it was worse... because "the call was coming from within our house."

...and there is no doubt who originated that call.

Historically, the gallows was deemed appropriate for citizens who practiced/proposed/incited acts such as these. And yet, the #1 person responsible for that day's events didn't swing from Justice's rope. In fact, he's still in position to resume the post he held when he orchestrated this abomination the first time.

WT(a)F is wrong with our country?
My Mom and Dad wouldn't recognize the country their son and daughter currently inhabit. The nation they worked so hard to build.

How will I explain this to members of The Greatest Generation when we see each other again? How will I describe how/why we let them down?

Amen, if we can hold a clerk of the court responsible--- we sure as hell need to hold Donald Trump responsible to the American people for trying to steal an election.

Fake electors, schemes to throw out votes, doing nothing as our Capital was attacked by his mob-- JMHO, I always honored our Presidency- he or she is the representative of our nation. Most of our Presidents have acted as gentlemen and honorable men-- even as we now know more than several were deeply flawed men

Former President Trump is the perfect pied-piper. He sings his chants and his people do his bidding. Buying his hats, shirts, action figures, coins, sneakers, on and on- the billionaire suckers his multitudes. He is the opposite of Presidential.

After his defeat this election- we must try him for his actions before and after Jan 6-- money and power can prevent justice- but he surely should/ must be held accountable. Defeat Trump and bring him to justice.

And according to the Dawgtalker poll, if posters on this board had their way, he would be re-elected. Let that sink in for a minute.

Of course, because they probably excuse this BS too:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/4-voters-charged-intentionally-voting-171708707.html

The state stepped in after Pete Lucido, the Republican local prosecutor in Macomb County, said there was “no malicious or criminal intent” and declined to file charges.

________

Which means we can probably guess which party these 4 voted for.

Put, I’ve noticed that 9/10, the people doing the most crying about election fraud happen to be associated with the party committed the fraud.
