Down visiting some friends at a lake. Guy I've known for 12-14 years.......missing a leg. I never felt the need to ask him what he lost his leg from. (just below the knee)
In casual talking, he volunteered "I got it caught in an auger when I was 16."
He's now 70 and retired. Kudo's to him. He didn't sit back and say "woe is me", he adapted and overcame.
And then he told me about a friend of his. Dude lost both his arms, but he adapted and overcame. You can see him on youtube if you care: Harmless farmer.
He died recently. Cancer. As my friend said "He got the double F'd card, but you'd never know. He used his feet as hands."
And yes, if you watch any of his videos, he could drive/steer a tractor or combine. He could remove parts - nuts and bolts - with his feet. He could replace nuts and bolts, with his feet.
Dude was not helpless in the least. Adapt and overcome.
You can choose to go to youtube and type in "harmless farmer" and watch as much as you care, or you can choose not to do that.
