WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will move to reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug, The Associated Press has learned, a historic shift to generations of American drug policy that could have wide ripple effects across the country.
The proposal, which still must be reviewed by the White House Office of Management and Budget, would recognize the medical uses of cannabis and acknowledge it has less potential for abuse than some of the nation’s most dangerous drugs. However, it would not legalize marijuana outright for recreational use.

It will be a good day when I can hold a Medical MJ license for chronic kidney stones and legally own a firearm.
Not that any of that has anything to do with Biden.

Basically the same reason Hunter Biden was facing charges. He purchased a firearm while admittedly abusing drugs. Not that smoking crack is legal in any state. That's why proponents of marijuana law reform are in favor of declassification, it shouldn't be treated the same as crack, cocaine, heroin, etc... Why Do Federal Marijuana Laws Affect Ohio Gun Owners Who Have an Ohio Medical Marijuana Card? According to the 1968 Gun Control Act, anyone who uses or is in possession of a controlled substance cannot also own or be in possession of firearms. Some interpret this law to include all persons living in (or even visiting) the same household. The main interest when the controlled substance portion was added to this act, was to give law enforcement the freedom to build cases against major drug cartels famous for illegal drug and firearms trade and possession.
