I was out at the mall buying Christmas presents for assorted family members, in my Winslow jersey and Browns santa hat. I figured I might stand out a little but I had to show my Browns pride.

Turns out, I blended right in. SO many people had some form of Browns gear on today! And in the stores Browns merch was flying off the shelves. Especially at this one place that sells cheap shirts (3 for $20, I got a "Fear the Elf!", "Winslow's Warriors" and my personal favorite "Beer we go Brownies, beer we go!" today.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that it's pretty awesome to finally see the Brownsmania that I've only seen in history videos and from stories.

Kinda funny that you noticed this phenomenom. I think it's called Bandwagonitis Brownicus. It happens every so often and then just cures itself.

Kidding aside, I have noticed over the past month that more folks are creeping out of the woodwork and donning Browns gear. I have always worn something with the Browns on it. Now more folks are starting to bring theirs out of the mothballs. (they aren't so embarrassed anymore )

It will continue until some of the folks that were wearing Pats gear one year, Indy gear the next, Steeler gear the next year. Then the Browns have an excellent season and they will add Browns gear to their NFL closet.

Like you said, it is so nice to see more folks flying our colors but how many of them are True Browns fans and how many will you find with an NFL closet?

Does it truly matter? I just like to see the sea of Brown and Orange.

Besides, we're Browns fans, we're not bandwagoners, we're just a little more vocal now that we have something to cheer about.

I saw a Browns shirt the other day that read "Cleveland- a drinking town with a football problem."

I know, I'm sorry I busted your bubble. I wasn't trying to but did want to keep that reality check there.

It is awesome to see folks back in the colors.

The guys that come into the gas station are a riot. They are all excited and I just look at them and say "I told you it was gonna be an exciting year!"

Before the season, I told all the guys to expect surprises out of the Browns this year and that they would make people notice them. Now they are all getting a kick out of Sundays. Everyone of them are very excited for the last 2 games. I heard "Go Browns!" MORE in the last 3 days than I have heard in the last 3 years. It's a wonderful time to be a Browns Fan!

I love those shirts!!! I have 2 of them from when I went to the races last June. I wear them to work and all the guys get a big chuckle out of them.

Yeah, they are out in droves all of a sudden... It's a good feeling.

The other thing I'm noticing is less and less Steeler stuff.

One of the guys that comes into the station and ALWAYS busts my chops about the Browns hasn't said jacksheet in almost 2 months.

Was talking to his wife today and told her that he may be crying the blues next Sunday when they get knocked out of the playoffs by the Ravens and she started laughing.

Another thing about this season, it has been so easy to hold your head high come Monday morning and you are off to work. Makes the week start a little easier, makes you smile a little more and puts a little bounce in your step.

There's this one "friend" at school who is from Chillacothe, OH.....(a bungle fan), needless to say, he's been quiet when we talk about football at lunch on Monday.

Funny how all that smack talk is coming back to bite them in the rump isn't it? It's awesome when I know that I won't be hassled because the Browns are better than anyone expected.

Any chance you can post a pic of the Beer We Go Brownies shirt? I haven't seen one and imagine it has to be interesting.

I'm seeing more people in Browns clothing than usual in Dayton. Could be that I've been out more than usual shopping, but it's been nice. We all grin and nod at each other. Of course, the Bengal fans give us all dirty looks, which makes it even better.

I agree. The bar we go to has been overrun with "new" fans. We're glad to have them, don't get me wrong, but they always act shocked when they find out we've been there every Sunday for the past six seasons.

Yep, the wagon is getting full.
I don't like the "new" fans. You should have been here when we stunk it up in the past. I wear my stuff every day just about. Blowout loss, 3-13 season etc. Love 'em win or lose.

I always say to my wife when people see me out on the town wearing my Browns stuff, I bet some people think I jumped on the wagon. If they only knew.

I have to find a t-shirt that those little set-ups at intersections sold when the Indians were making thier run this past season. One of them said Indians fan before 2007. I need one of those with the Browns on it.

I always like to look at bumper stickers and license plate frames. They better look weathered, not brand new and white etc. Tell tale sign of a wagon jumper most of the time. I know some true fans have bought new stuff.

I shouldn't say I don't like the new fans, but it bothers me.

This is a problem and I really don't like the hatred toward "new" Browns fans. If they're just as quick to jump off the bandwagon, I'm with you, they frustrate me. But keep in mind a whole generation has grown up with crap football combined with no football for awhile. Much of you guys witnessed the 80's...the Drive happened a week before I was born. You guys watched Kosar (so did I but I only remember so much, most of the time Testaverde played), Mack, Byner...I got to watch Travis Prentice, Tim Couch, Keith McKenzie, and Gerrard Warren.

Do ya think some of us wondered what's so great about this team when we see that? Fortunately this site taught me a metric ton I otherwise would not have known.

I know that if I didn't find this site, I'd still love the Browns, but not anywhere near the unhealthy obsession I have currently.

Personally, I have a bunch of new Browns stuff from when they changed the facemask. The white facemask logo just doesn't look right to me anymore so I had to replace a lot of stuff.

But I still have my 1980's Browns winter hat and such, but I like shiny new things. I would flip if my Browns fandom was judged by my new to old merchandise ratio, especially because in my group of friends, my stereotype is "Oh, he's the crazy Browns fan." So don't get angry when you see new bumper stickers and merchandise. Not all of us can have an Eric Turner jersey because we were in elementary school when he played.

I know no one likes bandwagon jumpers, but my god, give the new people a chance to learn to appreciate this team like you do. Keep in mind the vast majority of any fanbase is bandwagon. But it just so happens that our diehard to bandwagon ratio is higher than most teams.

Besides, I wouldn't mind having some bandwagon jumpers filling opposing teams stadiums like the Steelers do.

I completely understand that some fans have bought new stuff. I am not saying that if you have new stuff you're a wagon jumper. Not at all.

A good percentage are. I didn't see all of these Browns winter coats and hats last year at this time. Why now? They are winning. Why wear it only if we win. True fans wear it no matter.

I'm with you about fans coming along. You have to stay, don't jump off when we play bad. Before the season started this year, I was in line at a store next to a guy I had on a Browns hat. He started talking to the cashier and was saying so I could hear, that he doesn't support the Browns because they suck so bad. He only wants to support a winner.

I bet this guy today is pimping a Browns hat or coat.
These are the people that bother me.

I see alot of Browns helmet magnets on cars also, I could count on one hand last year how many I saw.

The Cavs last season, I wanted them to win it all, but I always made a point to say, if they do win a championship, I will not be wearing or buying any kind of Cavs merch. They are a Cleveland team and I wish them well, but since I'm not a "true" Cavs fan or Indians fan for that matter, I just won't up and buy their stuff all of a sudden because they won something. It wouldn't feel right to me. I never really followed them, but I do pay attention to them.

I will not jump on their wagon because I'm not really a true cavs or Indians fan.
Do well, but no buying and wearing their stuff because they are doing good all of a sudden.
