My mother passed away yesterday. She had been in Hospice care for about 6 months. Up until a couple of years ago she would come spend the winter with me in Texas. She wasn't able to travel the last 2 years or so and I really missed her visits. We really bonded with her spending the winters with me. We would try and guess what color Vanna's dress would be on Wheel of Fortune. She won more that I. I would call her every Sunday at 3pm CST because that is when the Browns game would be over. I was able to come up and spend two weeks with her in April and be there for her 90th birthday. Glad I did. The one thing she always stressed that was once she was gone that my brothers, sister and I would stay close. I hope to do so. I still plan on coming up in November for Thanksgiving and deer season as long as I can. My Sunday's won't be the same. There is an empty place that cannot be filled. I am heading up to Ohio on Sunday to say goodbye.

My sincerest condolences. There is a special relationship between a man and his mom. I pray that God will comfort you and your family. I am glad that you have such good memories of her.

Damn South, really sorry to hear this news. It's never easy to lose a parent. That's great that you were able to share winters together in her later years. A lot of parents hit 80+ and their kids avoid them because they're "high maintenance". I recently overheard a conversation with an elderly lady and her daughter: "I took care of six of you, but the six of you can't take care of one of me". She laughed, it was a joke (for the most part, I assume), but it is a rather crazy notion because we all know how true it can be.
Keep the memories close to your heart. Keep in touch with the siblings, it's just a matter of immediately knowing when you're making a silly excuse. And every Sunday that the Browns game ends, look up and give her a wink and a smile.
RIP "Mom"

My mother passed away at 96.
Even when the end is near you are never ready for it. How you mourn the passing of a loved one is an individual matter.
When your parents pass you feel a aloneness that is final.
My deepest condolences.

Having lost both of my parents I understand what you're going through. It leaves a void that no one else can fill. While I'm fully aware that it's hard to imagine at the moment, there will come a time that the found memories of the past will overcome the pain of the end. My hope is that time will come to you sooner than later. My sincerest condolences.

My brothers and I really relied on each other to get through the grief of losing our parents. It would have been much more difficult without us supporting each other.

Sorry to hear that. It's a tough time, but your mom will always be with you. Every now and then you will see a sign and know she is there.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss.
And as another poster stated, there is something about the relationship between man and mother.
My dad passed last October, and it's still sort of starting to sink in.
Like you, I've been blessed to be able to spend time with my mom, help her with a few things around the house and watch the cooking shows (which she loves) with her.
I have an older sister, and I know my dad - and eventually my mom - would want us to be closer.
As Ballpeen said, "Every now and then you will see a sign and know she is there." At least that's how it's been with my dad.
I sincerely believe (and many posters might disagree with me) that we will see them again when we pass on.
Again, my condolences.

Sorry for your loss, Southwest. Did this earlier this year. Mom was a bit more precious after she left us. Prayers for her, for you, and all who loved you all. Seek peace and remember the best. Be strong, pal.

Sorry to you and the others who’ve lost parents, especially ones recent. 90 years is a long life, so if she had a good one, take comfort in that. My mom turns 80 next month (I have more gray hair than she), and I sometimes think about the inevitable. Again, sorry for your loss.
