Anyone have favorites? old standbys? I found one here at a shop I happened into 787. wow really like those a lot. The wife and I took a sip and looked at each other and both said this is really good coffee. Anyone got some favorite beans? We just splurged on a new espresso machine and are looking to try some new ones.

I've got nothing for you. I drink coffee. Folgers usually. Black, straight. 1 pot lasts 2 days, I just leave what I don't drink in the pot, and microwave it the next day.

I source my beans for a local roaster. For espresso you want beans that are mostly fresh, a week off the roast, but not too old though.

What machine did you get? What grinder? Some people would say the grinder is more important than the espresso machine.

One memorable favorite movie, not a favorite bean was called "the perfect cup" it was a short type movie, an independent movie

basically a person obsessed over coffee beans until they went mad, and then after they had tried everything
they ran out of all options but found one coffee bean in the bottom of every receptacle in their whole kitchen, and put them all together, one bean at a time and brewed it and finally satisfied their obsession with the one cup of coffee they got from those beans.

That looks like a fun machine.

One thing I have found interesting with espresso vs methods like drip is the difference in taste achieved from the exact same beans. There are some roasts I have gotten that I love drip/press but don't like in espresso and the other way around as well.

I have a Gaggia Classic Pro on the counter with a Baratza Sette 270Wi grinder.

It probably is. The act of brewing is pretty straight forward. They only brew what you put in.

The grinder regulates how fine a grind you want to achieve. If you keep grinding to different consistencies, you are going to get a different taste every time. Once you find the grind and beans you like, it stays the same each time, assuming you clean your equipment on a regular basis.

So we love love love our machine. We got a bag of some kind of Italian espresso at starbucks when we first got it, it was a bit bitter. Then we tried black cat from whole foods . It is really good but a bit pricey. All the good ones seem to be a bit pricey. Got a delivery from Lavazza, Gran Riserva Whole Bean. We love it and is reasonably priced. Lavazza has many kinds so I am sure we will be trying several before deciding on a favorite. Almost forgot we picked up a bag of 787 beans local coffee shop that grows their own. amazing coffee we love it. Stupid expensive I doubt we buy another bag. So Lavazza it is!

Best coffee I ever drank was in Costa Rica. Country of origin beans roasted locally. Cafe Milagro. Incredible. You can buy it online but it’s pricey.

Those seem to be typical prices for the popular good stuff. 787 was $34 a bag. I knew I would only be buying it once.

We had so many cups of great coffee in Costa Rica. Even my wife enjoyed it and she isn't a coffee drinker (she enjoyed a Peaberry). Toured a couple of fields where they were a one stop shop, from growing it to roasting it.
