Central Ohio

A Snow Advisory has been issued for this evening and through tomorrow beginning at 7PM. Today will be overcast and chilly with snow developing overnight tonight and through tomorrow. 1-3" of snow is possible around the advisory area. Highs tomorrow may not reach 30 degrees. Temperatures will moderate at the end of the week.

Looking forward a bit, wonder what the weather will be like for the Bills game?

I'm planning to dig the shovel out of the garage today and head to the grocery store (not because of the snow, but because we need some stuff).

When did they start issuing snow advisories for 1"-3" of snow?

I laughed at the same.. My theory is we have so many Somalian / Muslim / African immigrants that have trouble driving in the best of conditions. I suppose it's for them maybe..

A advisory just means that conditions could get bad for driving and such which 1-3" of snow could do. When a watch/warning is issued it means to expect alot of snow. Thats our meteorology lesson for today.

This is you're first snow of the season? We've been getting snow on and off since mid-November.

But you live in Erie, correct? So that's not surprising.

We've only had very light flurries until now. I woke up to 3 inches this morning here in the burgh.

There's been a lot of flooding in the valley. Last week we got over three feet of snow in the mountains. Now the warmer temps and rain is causing major melt off.

Oh well. I skiied on Saturday in about a foot and a half of fresh powder. Fun while it lasted.

Yes, thanks Mr. Weather Channel. I know all that stuff...it just seems like 10 years ago they didn't issue advisories for such a piddly amount.

Other than flurries, yes. It's about normal for us, though.

I'll second that... All I have to say is that it would be a great day to go to the beach.

<< When did they start issuing snow advisories for 1"-3" of snow? >>

When the morons on the TV stations treat any snowfall as a local disaster.
These idiots sound like complete fools. And I loved the interviews the stations did with local Clevelanders yesterday concerning the weather; every
single one started with "it's Cleveland". Really?? I thought it was Palm Beach. Hey folks, get a life. It's Chicago, it's Detroit, it's Green Bay, it's the Twin Cities, it's Pittsburgh, it's New York, it's Boston. Shut up and quit your whining - it's December and it's winter.

We've had snow since about the week before Thanksgiving. A lot of it melted yesterday though .

It was 44 degrees last night and a lot melted and turned into some pretty slick ice. It was not fun driving this morning at all.

We had snow too, but once I finished scraping the frost off the ice-maker, it was gone.

Cold front coming through, I think it's all the way down to 70 today.

i couldn't watch my favorite show one time this summer b/c the local weatherJack took over the airwaves to track a thunderstorm in Chilicothe!...

I would say that winter In Columbus is 100% the worst season of the year. It never snows in the Bus. Last year we dint get our first accumulating snow until Mid January. I wen back home for t- giving and there was 4 inches of snow the first 24 hours I was home.

The worst part about Central Ohio is, the temperature. Whenever a storm rolls around the temperatures fluctuate around freezing. So it doesnt snow, we get ice rain and sleet. Obviously the worst weather god created. Huge difference between 38 and rain and 30 and snow.

Im used to the Lake Effect but, this 1-3, some say 2-4" event is huge for Columbus standards, especially consider central Ohio has had some crap winters recently.

If its gonna be cold, it might as well snow.

Hooray for Snow

I visit a couple of places a week during my work/job routine,...I think their entrie countries work at this one place. Never realized how many of them there are here.

Anyway, I'm looking for Columbus to be shut down tomorrow if we get 3"

DawgMichelle you don't live in Columbus do you? Here a inch of rain causes multiple accidents and delays in traffic, 1 - 3 inches of snow is enough to cripple the city because every year no one drives like they know what their doing or they've ever seen the stuff before.

No, I live in Dayton. I'm guessing it's even worse down here. The grocery store was packed today with people thinking they might get snowed in for two weeks.

I'm outside most of the time anyway so it really dosent matter, actually cold dosent bother me, last Feb when it was below zero I went bow hunting, what gets me is the wind chill, if it's cold & windy I'm in side, Our house is set around 60 most of the time, unless it's lower when were not thier or while were sleeping, cold snow no big deal and your right seasons fly bye the older we get.

The winter heating bills still make winter seem forever though .......
