Getting my first F-150... curious if any other owners out there? Any recommendations? Accessory recommendations?

I debated between various trucks, but ultimately the F-150 is the one my wife liked the best... and I gotta keep mama happy...

Frankly, the Ram 1500 was my choice... but my wife hated the look of them... so we're going with a F-150

I have owned many over the years.I'm currently on my 3rd truck with the ecoboost engine,the gen2 is basically a race engine adopted for everyday use.A tall order but Ford accomplished it.If you are not hung up on a V8 that would be my recommendation.
There are many trim levels,from the basic work truck,XL, to the extravagant.It would depend on what you want vs how much you're willing to pay.As with any vehicle there are trade offs.If you want the bigger cab you lose a foot of bed length,the more options the more money.

I have a F-250 XL 6.7L PowerStroke, Crew Cab and 8' bed, and I love that thing.
Unfortunately, the engine is hydrolocked right now because I was a dumbass and drove it too long while it was misfiring badly due to bad injectors, so now I get to pay that penalty.
Still, with over 200k miles on it, I'll gladly fix it and keep rolling with it.

Congrats! Can't help you with any recommendations though as I drive a 2019 Ram 2500.

I have a 2014 F-150 XLT. Rough Country lift 3.5 Ecoboost Twin Turbo.
I've owned 2 others with the Triton Engine.
Won't own any other truck.
Can't go wrong with the Eco or 5.0 Coyote Engine

If you have a Ford, particularly one of the trucks, and like to work on your own vehicles, you need to IMMEDIATELY go purchase a license for the FORScan software and a USB to OBDII interface connector. You want a wired one, not wireless. Pay the extra for the one that doesn't require you to hit a switch to read all the codes.

It will give you ALL of the same diagnostic code reading abilities as a dealership AND you can add/upgrade your vehicle with packages it didn't originally ship with. e.g. if your vehicle wasn't built with fog lamps or automatic headlights, you can turn them on in the computer, then just plug in the parts super cheap. Of note, all Ford trucks ship factory ready for Remote Start, but they don't all have the parts installed.... you just have to put in a new hood switch and an antenna under the dash and then turn it on in the computer. Voila.... instant remote start, and on the newer models it is a decent 2-way starter. With the upgrades I've done to my truck, I've essentially changed it from an XL to an XLT.

In addition to that sort of stuff, you can run maintenance routines, you can tweak all of the hidden settings, you can even do your own injector replacements and update the computer with the new injector's trim code. You can save a ton of money.
The software works on all Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln vehicles.
