Ricky Williams' 2007 season reportedly lasted just six carries.

Ricky Williams

Williams
The Miami Dolphins running back, who was reinstated last month after a one-year suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, suffered a torn chest muscle in the Dolphins' 3-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night, the Palm Beach Post reported, citing an unnamed source.

The injury apparently happened when Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons, pursuing a Williams fumble, stepped on Williams' right shoulder blade.

"It's just sad," Williams' agent, Leigh Steinberg, told the Post. "As hard as he's worked. He worked so hard physically to get back into shape and in therapy. He worked so hard for that moment and to have it end this way is sad."

The Post reported the Dolphins were not available for comment Tuesday afternoon.

Holy Cow!!! Get 6 carries, and out for the season. I hope for his sake, he can heal for next season. It sounded like he was going to be serious this time. I would like to see him be productive.

Ouch. Things just keep getting worse for the 'fins. Any news on how bad Chapmans' injury is?

He got STOMPED on by some huge dude. Any player would be out after that. Just bad luck for Ricky.

Funny thing is I believe that counts as a whole season for his contract.

And to me, that stomp looked intentional. They were talking about that on Steve Czaban this morning.

My fantasy team began with Ronnie Brown, then Chatman, then Williams...

No more Miami backs for me.

Yeah, that was BS... If Ricky played the whole game, we would be tied for first place right now.

Last week I dropped Kolby Smith for that punk Ricky Williams.

Worst fantasy move in history.

It sure did. He stomped on the shoulder and then made a cut for the loose ball, which never was in the direction of the stomp.

We didn't even get one practice out of Bentley. I hate to see this kind of stuff happen, even if it is to a bonehead like Ricky.

I was only commenting on the stomp looking intentional not RW's conditioning or lack thereof and certainly not the commish's decisions.

Reminds me of Juan Gonzalez a couple seasons back for us.
One at bat, then done.

Yeah that stepping on the player was pretty bush...it could have been avoided - his step went pretty wide there to land squarely on his back.

Of course it was the only dry spot on the field and gave enough traction for him to pursue to the ball without slipping.

Wonder if that would have happened if he was in training camp and built up more physically?

That's funny. I heard the injury was from "blunt" trauma...

That "at-bat" promoted a guy named Sizemore up to the majors. Greatest hamstring tear in Indians history.

well he didn't "hit" any joints, so I think Ricky is safe there.

Is it me, or does it seem like anytime he gets hit, he just goes "puff"?

Okay, that was lame, but it's all I had right now.

That's somewhat of a shame.

Sure, he's gotten in trouble multiple times for lighting up, but it sounds like he went through a lot to get rehab and get back into the NFL. And to get put on IR that quick would suck.

It almost looked like he got stepped on purposely. I doubt it was, but the guy seemed to really go out of the way when he did step on him.
