To fellow dawgs in SW Ohio, there recently was a tornado that passed thru central Miami County. Just passed I-75 between Troy and Tipp City.
There was a Meijer store in Miami County that sustained damage.
I just got home-will post more as I hear

I was at work when this happened and the Distribution Center is only 3 miles away from us as the crow flies yet our Management didn't even have us take shelter.

Seriously? That's a pretty obscene decision by management.

Seriously? That's a pretty obscene decision by management. Yep! I talked to one of the shift supervisors and he said they were using company protocol and monitoring the situation the whole time and that they didn't feel like we were ever in danger. While he was telling me this I was thinking that if the tornado had shifted course and swung north while traveling between 30 to 35 miles per hour it would have hit us in less than 6 minutes and it probably would have taken Management at least a minute or two to realize that the tornado had changed course then another minute or two for people to hear the company's warning and realize what was going on so we probably would of had 2 or 3 minutes at best to get every one to shelter (About 250-300 people on 2nd shift).

We actually had the opposite problem.
Everyone took shelter but then couldn't hear the 'all clear' signal from said shelter area and so it took us forever to be able to come back out. :-p
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Oh, so the shift supervisors can supercede the NWS guidelines when "they don't feel" that you're in danger. I'll bet you the local news channels down there would love that story right about now.

Hello, Dawgs. We are fine, but shaken. This tornado did damage near us, inside two miles multiple directions. Trees have been uprooted, flattened, lots of debris. A golf course / country club got pounded, saying it might be a hundred trees or more. HEAVY rain! We couldn't see across the road or beyond the back of the property. Scary part was looking across a field facing the front of our property, in the distance, roughly half a mile away, I think I saw the start of one of these (there were multiple confirmed in the area). Strange cloud was rotating as it rose maybe 50 yards above the ground. The rain was heavy and circling the same way as the cone which backlit the rain. That tornado toe up some residential about half mile away and also tore roof off of a meat butchering plant.
We are fine. Prayers for all who need them.

Bard, glad to hear that you are OK. Prayers for all of those who were hit by this storm.

Thanks for the good words. They are appreciated and welcome. In college I helped for about two weeks cleaning up after the Xenia tornado. Ours was nowhere near that cataclysm. But ours was plenty. Still have roads and neighborhoods here that are blocked off. I think we may have had touchdowns in about seven areas if I understood the weather news. Adding my prayers swell: First for my wife and I dodging the bullet; second, for those who stand in need. Thanks again.
