Sooga, my daughter, graduated h.s. in May of 2019. She will be 'walking' this Sat at the U of Toledo. I say 'walking', because she still has the summer semester left to finish, so she won't be done with school until August, God willing and the creek don't rise, and she continues to study hard. B.S. in Nursing - in basically 3 1/4 years.
I AM looking forward to it, and I am NOT looking forward to it. Great for her, no doubt. I couldn't be much prouder I guess.
Well, she's done great in her first 7 semesters, so I hope and pray she'll continue that in the last semester.
Just an update on Sooga.

Thanks, but we'll just say "to my daughter". She's the one that's done the work.

Congratulations to her for one heck of an accomplishment, and to you for doing a fine job raising her.

Thanks, to you, and to all. All I did was love her and raise her like a dad/parent should. That's not deserving of kudo's. Those go to her.....

Congrats to her. A nursing degree has a lot of flexibility to it. I wish her well.

Congrats to your daughter.
Mine will graduate HS next year, two classes short of her Associates degree.

Congratulations to her!
Those B.S. Nursing programs can be pretty tough. An old friend and roommate of mine was part of the last class that went through Cleveland Metro's old nursing school, and I know how hard she had to work at that, not to mention racking up 30-50 hours a week waitressing to pay for the schooling. It can be a real grinder, and for her to make it through like that speaks volumes about the character of the young lady you raised. Well done, all around!

No doubt it's been stressful, for her especially, but for mom and dad. Sad thing is, mom and dad can't do anything but support her.
Clinicals at different hospitals throughout, plus working (during school) nights at Toledo Hospital - missing family stuff due to that. (working as a nurses aid - not even an STNA, pays very well for a college student. Or anyone, really.)
What I disliked the most was where she lived, and her drive for work. And when she worked at the mental hospital for clinical. But, the staff made sure she (and all) were safe.
2 weeks ago we moved her into a new apartment. Much better area, but a longer drive to school, clinicals, and work. Oh well, 3 minute drive vs. 20 minutes.
She's got her finances figured out. And yes, she has loans, and so do I for her, but it's not like she went into basket weaving as a major. Graduate, pass the nclex, live like your poor, and you'll be wonderful.
She's already been offered a job at Toledo Hospital - provided, of course, she graduates and gets certified. She'll probably start off making more than I do.
To all, I appreciate all the replies, and congrats on her behalf. I don't talk about my kids on here much anymore cause some haters gotta hate. I don't need that.

Congratulations to Sooga. You and your wife must be extremely proud of her.
Nursing is a great field. She will always be employed. It's also a demanding and tough job. I remember the vigils I spent when my mother was slowly dying and I was amazed by just how hard the nurses worked. I have a ton of respect for what nurses do. They are "givers" rather than "takers," and when it is all said and done, you can rest easy that you made the world a better place. While the work is demanding and rough and many people will not fully appreciate her efforts, Sooga will always have the inner peace and security of knowing that she has dedicated her life to making the world a better place. And the pay is nice, too.

It was nice. Some 950 grads, from 4 "schools". School of engineering, school of nursing, school of education, and school of business at this ceremony. And, the u of t got it done in under 2 hours.
U.T. had a grad ceremony Friday evening, 1 Sat at 9, the one we went to at 1, then another one scheduled for Sat. at 6. Might even have 1 scheduled for Sunday. (each day, and each time, are/were for different "schools", if that makes sense).
I'm glad it's over, though.
Next up, finish the last semester, then the pinning ceremony in Aug. Then Nclex, then work.
