No... as long as Watson isn't suspended for the entire season this is in no way a rebuild...

As long as you mean that our injury situation will be better than last year, then yes, we'll have rebuilt.

Not even close. The move to upgrade the QB position indicates that they think they have a Super Bowl roster. I thought they had the best roster in the entire NFL two years ago and were a qb away from winning it all.

2022 is an upgrading the engine from something off of a lawnmower to an engine from a performance sports car kind of year (Watson for Baker). We've swapped out some of the tires (Cooper for Landry), but the bulk of the vehicle hasn't changed a whole lot otherwise (4/5 OL, 2/3 TEs and all the RBs are back).

Replacing Tretter with Nick Harris could be like recharging our transmission fluid. Losing Hooper may have streamlined things. Cooper for Landry figuratively gains us some max speed at the cost of a little bit of handling.

Baker was a fancy looking lawnmower, but he left a lot of uncut grass behind.

Our team is mostly built and it's not changing (much). If Watson gets suspended then it might be a throwaway season. Not a rebuilding one.

Especially if you start with a highly talented team, as most would agree the beginning of the 2021 season had, people will not seem to see/ or want to admit, that players who leave hurt a team twice as much as players who get added help a team, and I think this has been observable over time.

Coach is the same, 2021 yes, 2022, yes.
Coordinators the same, 2021 yes? 2022 yes.

Quarterback is the same, 2021 yes, 2022 no.
All 3 tight ends are coming back. 2021, a rare yes, 2022- no.

The Running backs, 2021 they were coming back, 2022 they are still here.

The wide receivers, 2021, returning, 2022--- at least 3 are gone

The offensive line, 2021, top 8 of the top 13 were all returning, 2022, about 2 out of 5 of the top 9 or 10 are questionable to return or not returning.

The defensive line, in 2021 there were a ton of new faces, in 2022, at least 2 starters, McDowell, and Clowney are at least questionable to return at this point. The Edge rushers/ linebacker edge rushers. At least Mack Wilson has been swapped out, maybe Tony Fields will step in, and the new faces.
The Safeties, 3 +1 were available last year, plus MJ Stewart, in 2022, Javonte Moffatt may take over for MJ Stewart, one of the 3 from last year is at least questionable to return..
The cornerbacks may be returning.

Bottom line, A team just can't change their starting quarterback, backup quarterback from the previous group, and 3 of their top 5 wide receivers, not bring back all of their tight ends, and it not be a rebuilding year.

As with any season there is some re-tooling or changing of a few parts in the form of maintenance, but it isn't a rebuild by any stretch of the word.

It is a change at starting quarterback, The number 2 tight end, and 3 of the top 4 Wr's, and they haven't even held the draft yet.
The Starting Center is not returning on the OL, and who knows how many more changes will happen between now and September.
I don't know how this can not be labeled a rebuilding year.

The NFL has a constant player turnover rate on all 32 teams. Rosters will change from season to season on every NFL team. According to your logic every NFL team would be in a rebuild year.

That fact only reinforces my belief, if the numbers were reversed, 24-1 instead of 1-24, then! then I'd be questioning. But as it is, I've spelled it out. Whether or not people believe they have "gotten better" there is no doubt they have made the changes. The changes equal the rebuild not the perception of the quality. And 2021 wasn't as much of a rebuild as 2022.

If Watson is suspended we might as well just tank. If he’s here for at least 13-14 games, then we should be a contender

This team is not tanking. Not even close. We have a very good roster.

Yeah we definitely do. But without Watson we can’t win the division or the title, so it’s tantamount to a lost year

I'll say no. I think we can make the playoffs barely with this roster minus Watson for the year or years.

every year is a "rebuilding" year.
FA's come and go, players retire, the roster is never the same, year-to-year.


I think a more important point is that we have the same coaching staff, FO, and O&D schemes. So this "rebuild" is more like a re-tooling. The machine is in place. With new parts.

Agree, every year is rebuild/ and lady luck is a HUGE factor- injuries/ugh!! If Ratbirds can win a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer as QB- I personally think JB and DW eventually will quite possibly get the job done. GO BROWNS!!!

I should not have mentioned injuries, Browns luck- Grant lost for season probably- here we go again. Go Browns!!!
