though I'm not as upset... if you want a list of Super Bowl era best coaches it is what it is... best coaches all time and Paul Brown is easily in top 10...

Why would they include Lombardi but not Brown? Paul Brown coached til '75 and Lombardi quit in '69 or are they just basing it off what they did from '66 til now?

Paul Brown should be on there, no doubt. But I know they’re gonna focus on Super Bowl Era.

The league existed 40+ years before the 1st Superbowl, and the list said "all time". There are coaches on it that haven't won as many championships
nor contributed anywhere near what Paul Brown has to the state of the game we see today. Just what were the criteria?

Can't believe Hubris and Freddie did not make the list.

Of all time? Are these winingest or just top? Because Top can be funniest, or most animated, or most completely overmatched as they'll lose by 40 every week.

#10 Jerry Glanville, honorable mention, Bill Cowher.
#19.3, Bruce Coslet and Dave Shula of the 1998- turn of the century bengals.

#8.975- Honorable mention to Buddy Ryan, but the spot goes to all of Buddy's children who did or did not become NFL "head coaches".

#5. point zero. Ravens Head Coach John harbaugh, (or is it Jim? ) All Time Winningest head coach in the Harbaugh family, (maybe, I don't know.)
Honorable mention to, Florida Gators former Head coach-who had a brief stint in the NFL,
For that note- Washington Owner- as a head coach- in 1999-2001.

#6, again. Don Shula, he's one of the greatest head coaches in NFL lore.

Which brings us to #6.58 or 5.9999999- take your pick, Casey Casum would with the countdowns, just add a song with a storyline. long distance dedication, Dom Irera, Dom Rivera of the Panthers, when I think of him, I think of Tom Coughlin, who should only get an honorable mentioin, because of Camp Coughlin.

#5 top coaches in the NFL, all time, the St Louis Cardinals of about the 1984 year, Not only were they one of the worst Franchises, but, like the Jets, they were not always the very worst, but just slighthy more likely to win.

Paul Brown, was a legendary, before my time, game changing head coach, and pioneer of football on the national scale.

Lists of all time are dumb.

I've got a problem with a greatest all time NFL coaches list that puts Tony Dungy ahead of Hank Stram, but does't put Marty Schotenheimer ahead of Tony Dungy.

Hank Stram did more to change the game of football but Tony Dungy probably did not coach in the right time frame to make the most changes.

Another reason why "all time" anythings are stupid.

If Tony Dungy had decided to be a rocket scientist and not coach football the game doesn't change much at all.

If Hank Stram had decided to be a rocket scientist and not coach football the game is at least slightly, well significantly changed, and the process of the merger may have gone differently? a more drawn out less equal transition between the leagues?

As far as Marty, either Division titles matter or they don't in the NFL.
And they do. NFL teams that win divisions still get in the playoffs over teams with better records and get home games over wild cards.
Since Division Titles matter Schottenheimer belongs on the list. The 1997 Super Bowl win Broncos did not win their division because Shotteheimers chiefs stopped them by getting a better record.

Schottenheimer was unstoppable against impossible odds in a divison game in his own division, on several occasions, against undefeated teams, what have you,
If you made a division- with the top 3 coaches anyone can think of, (or 4 for a 5 team division), and Marty also, and they played a season,
Schottenheimers' team would win that division! Full Stop!
and Division titles matter,
The Wild Card entrance into the playoffs, has not even been around my whole life, iirc.

If Schottenheimer had become a rocket scientist and not coached football, we would have missed so much. The game may not have changed a super amount, but, we would have missed so much.

The last Browns division title? Schottenheimer 1986 or 89, maybe 88? but none since he was coach.

I agree, but they did say in the Super Bowl era. And lets be honest here, we are talking about things our team did 60+ years ago. If it was some other team I doubt many on here would be upset. The reality is not many people are alive who actually remember any of that.

Just the way it goes. New things shine. Old things get dull.
