I got off the turnpike in Streetsboro and stopped
At Burger King. Pulling in the drive thru I saw a young guy and his dog.
Knowing he was homeless I asked if he needed help. He said sure.
So I raced home grabbed 4 pairs of jeans
Cargo shorts, dog biscuits, body spray, basketball shoes, bed sheets , pillow, hand sanitizer, water dish,beef jerky in 2 duffle bags

After small talk, I found hes trying to get back to Vegas.
But he asked me a question I could not answer.
He asked " why are you helping me"

I didnt know what to respond with.
What should have I said?

Because you care.

We help because genuinely care and we want to rather than being told to do so.

I was curious how many people passed by him before I arrived. As I was talking to.him
After I.gave him 20.00 this guy eating at a round table gave him some money too.

Good job.

Now just consistently wear a facemask.

My reply would have been:

Because you needed it.
Someday you will come across a person who needs your help. The price of my help is when that day arrives, you help them.

We’re all we got.

"Someone needed help today.
Today, I chose to help."

I have had that question asked. My answer is sometimes God puts a angel before us as a test. I don't want to fail the test. I don't know if it is or isn't, but I don't want to take chances.

Anytime I stop at some exit and the guy with the sign is right next to ME is my test. I don't just sit there acting like I am fussing with my radio or looking at some bird in the other direction.. I always hand the person at lest $5-$10. If I don't have that and only have 20's I always have some $1 bills I share.

I usually just keep a $5 out so I can hand it to him quickly.

Do what you can, when you can.

Sometimes you see the same people in the same places...I forget them. About 15 years ago a young lady needed mony to get home to Dayton. I gave her $10. Dayton, Tn. is about 30 miles from where we were. That was enough to get her home.

The next week I was sitting in the same McDonalds and the same girl came up to me asking for gas money....she was stuck, bla, bla. I reminded her I gave her $10 last week and that she needed to plan a little better. She gasped, turned and walked away quickly.

It's better to give than to receive.

I heard this a while ago, and figure this is a good place to share:

A man and his young son are walking along the street, and on the other side of the road is a blind man asking for money. The man gives his son some money, and tells his son to go give the man the money. The bot comes back, and his father asks him why he didn't tip his cap to the man.

The boy says: "Because he's blind."

To which his father said: "Yes, but what if he isn't."

There is a spot in front of the Boardman Wal-Mart where people come to panhandle. Usually it's a family, and their car has broken down. Is it legitimate? Are they just trying to get "easy money"? Who knows? However, I believe that God would prefer for me to give to 9 people who don't need it, than to pass by 1 who does.

Because you simply felt it was the right thing to do. Helping someone else is often a selfish act depending on who you are. By walking away you feel worse and always look back and think you should have helped. By helping you feel better. Who wants to look back over their shoulder and wish they would have done the right thing when they know they didn't?

Whenever I see a homeless person asking for money I always offer to buy them food.

The sad thing is around 80% of them turn me down and get angry.

It's the only way I can ensure that they aren't going to use that money for drugs.

You're just trying to fatten him & the dog up for Thanksgivin.... err, because "Why not?".

Good things happen when people take it upon themselves to help people.

I used to walk down across that bridge going to the Browns games and and you would see guys holding a cup out and never fail Id reach in my pocket and give 70 cents 5 dollars 10 dollars
One time on route to the Browns Cards game throwback jerseys game I had a bag of Mr.Chippys
From Tower City.
I gave it up for a empty stomach.

I'm similar... I prefer not to give cash... I've given clothes, shoes, and food...
