...just got engaged a couple of hours ago. The young man asked for my permission and I enthusiastically gave my blessings. He is a real good man and they are a delightful couple. They never seem to argue and love the other's company.

My daughter closed on the selling of her house earlier today and the young man proposed a couple of hours later. They had opened up a business together back in December and both his family and ours have been hoping they would decide to tie the knot.

I'm extremely happy even though I have had some tears in my eyes. My little girl is moving on and it's a bit emotional, but I am so happy for her, because I truly think he is a good man and that she is very happy w/him.

I probably should not have made this thread because this kind of thing happens all the time. I'm sorry, but I was just so excited that I wanted to share. I texted a lot of our relatives and friends. She used to say she never wanted to get married, so this was pretty exciting for us. Also, he is a real solid dude.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but this news is not so good.

My daughter tested positive for Covid-19 today. She hasn't been able to smell things for about a week. Otherwise, she felt fine. She decided to get tested w/our encouragement and she was positive.

There is no way to know for sure, but she spoke to us this weekend about how the bar owner and also the building landlord informed her and her fiance that they both had the virus. As I mentioned in my original post, my daughter and her fiance own a small business and they had been in contact w/both men because of business reasons. She mentioned she couldn't smell anything and joked that it was great because slicing onions didn't make her cry anymore.

Her fiance is getting tested tomorrow.

The good news is that she is not hospitalized. She is a former athlete and still is an avid runner. She is in great shape, so we feel confident that she will recover. She is upset because she won't be able to put as much effort into the business as she would like. They just bought it in December and have been working hard to get it established. They have done very well, but this could be a set-back.

More good news. My wife was feeling very ill on Sunday. Had multiple symptoms. I took her to get tested. They called her today and said she did NOT test positive for the virus.

We'll get through this, but it's always something...

Hugs. I really do feel we will all get it at some point. Prayers for your daughter that she will heal fine.

Vers, I hope everything turns out O.K for your daughter. I'll keep her in my prayers( I've been saying a lot more of those lately). My daughter was tested a few weeks back and it was negative. My daughter in law gets tested weekly because of her job and my son every few weeks because of his. So far so good.

I'm sorry to hear your daughter has tested positive. You mentioned she's an athlete and of course the odds are in her favor for a full recovery in that respect. Chances seem better than not, she'll be fine.

Yes, we are very optimistic. She said she feels fine and they did not hospitalize her. So, that's a good sign.

Thoughts and prayers for your daughter, you, and your family. Her prognosis is most likely very positive as a young, healthy individual. A healthy person in her age group with CV has a death rate of well under 1%, but I'm sure its still a huge worry. Nevertheless, remember that odds are very high that she'll be fine. Hang in there.

Damn bro. Very sorry to hear that. Hopefully the symptoms have nearly reached their peak and the good health and taking care of her body pays off. That would be very scary for a father - I don't care how old your "baby" is.

Hopefully your wife gets better soon as well. I would be afraid of a faulty test if I didn't see her improving right away. Prayers for you and yours.
