I debated whether to post about this sordid incident where Earl Thomas' wife finds evidence of adultery and pulls a gun on him. She got charged, not him.

The football part of this unfortunate incident is the Ravens went through his contract to see if there were any clauses violated. They were looking for ways to cut him. It's suspected that they were unhappy with his free-lancing last year.

I just like the inner turmoil it's causing for the Ravens. Maybe we can find a way to exploit it. On the field, of course.

That explains your "yuck" post. It's indefensible. I don't often make unsubstantiated claims. But I don't think this is the first time Earl and his brother have "teamed up". The decision making here was of the lowest quality. The damage he's done to his family seems severe.

Ok, enough moralizing. The Raven's organization may have a problem they would like to solve. Their secondary was the weakest part of their defense last year. Apparently there is some dissatisfaction with Earl's play. It sounds like it could extend to teammates. If it's spilled on to the field it might affect their play.

I think it depends on which versions of the various players show up for them. Earl, Peters, and Jimmy Smith all have some volatility and their best days might be behind them (less Peters than the other two at 27). They could still be great, but they could also blow up spectacularly. We'll see.

I couldn't access most of the data in your first link. I did read the other two articles. I'll have to reconsider my opinion. Aside from that is the information suggesting that pass coverage was more impactful to winning than pass rush.

All of it does make me wonder how can you attack the Ravens D? Probably by running the ball effectively.

Yeah, a good running game, and flood the flats and short/intermediate zones that are vacated when they blitz.
