Well, it's Tuesday. New release day. Been a whole lot of Tuesdays since Joni put one out.

I luv Joni's stuff. My dentist lovED her stuff. He says she can no longer sing ('cuz of all the smoking, he says). He's right to an extent. She no longer sings like she used to. 'Course she's a lot older than she used to be (the mirror tells me the same).

This one doesn't come out and hit ya with greats like Turbulent Indigo or Herija. It'll take a few listens.

A booklet is included in the packaging with song lyrics (few incositancies). She plays many of the instruments and all of the vocals...she even plays the accordion in Big Yellow Taxi (2007) - brings back memories of my youth and accordion playing days...finished 3rd & 2nd in the state for my age group in successive years I did.

I like reading the lyrics along with listenning the first time. The title song Shine has at least one line/verse that one person or another will disagree with. She smacks both ideology and science

Bad Dreams is a good song...slow, but good. "Bad dreams are good in the great plan" is a great theme. Gotta have a sence of consequence.

Big Yellow Taxi (2007) is cute, somewhat different, and fits with the theme of the album. I like it muchly.

It'll take a few listenings...but God I love Joni's stuff.
I wish she'd tour...... I've never seen her......

Hope you don't mind if I horn in with having just heard the new Eagles single "How Long" while driving home today. Glenn Frey and Don Henley sound as good as they ever did, the signature Eagles' harmony was just like I remember it, and the guitar work was great (don't know if it was Joe Walsh, Don Felder, or whoever). For a couple minutes I felt like I was 21 again, listening to "Already Gone". It was a nice feeling. Funny thing is, I heard it on a Country station - go figure. I guess the album comes out in October ... I'm looking forward to it.

I hope the Joe Walsh tune One Day At a Time is on it. I copied it from a Farewell Tour performance on TV.

Isn't this the folk singer who tortured us for years with her version of
"Looked at love from both sides, now"?????

That song plus "Send in the Clowns" were played hour after hour on a music loop at various locations I worked at for more than 20 years. I never, never want to hear that voice again because of it. Irrational? maybe...true?...yes!

Go away...far away!

Yes, she did Both Sides Now, Woodstock, Free Man in Paris, Sex Kills, Help Me, Raised on Robery, You Turn Me On - I'm A Radio, Furry Sings The Blues, etc. but not Send in the Clowns.

Thanks for posting Ralphie.

Steven Stills would disagree with you and Jules ... I think he wrote "Suite Judy Blue Eyes" for Judy Collins. She did have this one song that I liked called "Someday Soon", but mostly I hated her too. But I don't mean that in a bad way ...
