The wife and I took a quick overnight trip from Tampa to Savannah, Ga., and met some old friends up there.
The 5 hour drive was an easy one yesterday and we met up with them at 2PM. We went to downtown Savannah and made reservations to eat at Paula Dean's rest., Lady and Sons, after standing in a line 50 yards long and with a 60 minute wait.
The tour of "old town" Savannah at the riverside was great with some businesses housed in buildings dating to the early 1800s. The afternoon and evening sight seeing was well worth the time and effort as just the architecture satisfied our curiousity. The horse drawn carriage tour was really interesting and informative.

We'll return for the St. Patrick's Day celebration which is the second largest in the country after the New York City Parade.

BTW...The Paula Dean Restaurant experience was a one of a kind and one time only happening.....I was suprised at the commonplace variety and quality.

I won't go in to detail, but Savannah Georgia sucks in my opinion.16 years ago, coming back from florida - a semi ran us off the road, I was in the backseat and the semi trailer wheels were on the trunk of our car..........sad thing is, we were on an overpass, so there was no where for us to go......we got crushed into the cement on the side, the trailer was literally on top of the car (the wheels were right behind my head), when we made it past the over pass we swerved into the ditch, due to the flat tires......we finally came to a stop........I couldn't get out of either of the back doors because the were screwed up from the semi and the wall, had to climb into the front to get out.

Oh yeah, I said no details. So, when the cop finally shows up he says "well, since you moved your car from the point of impact, I have no choice. I can't cite anyone. If you want to contest this, you'll have to appear in court next week."

We were 3 college students on our way back from spring break Classes started the next day. So, we rented a car, went back to indiana (northern indiana - about 10 miles from michigan) went to class for a week, took off on sunday, went to court on monday, got the semi driver cited, and went back the same day.

All because we were driving the speed limit, 65, got run over by a semi, and we didn't stop at the point of impact. Idiot cop.

Wow! Quite an experience and an unhelpful cop...can happen anywhere though.

I do love those Spanish Mossy Oak trees...
