Or my tale of how 1 dollar became 36
Well I got pulled over in a small town speed trap the other day. And the officer starts asking me odd questions. So after a few minutes he tells me there is a warrant for me and gives me a ticket. I go on about my day.
Turns out, in 3/03 I had a ticket that I somehow paid short by 1 dollar. And they mixed up 2 letters in my last name. Never got any notice, even though I was in that court in 05 for a traffic accident. But they never noticed at the time apparently. So my 1 dollar short payment (supposedly) got a 10 dollar late fee attached, and then a 25 dollar contempt fee along with a warrant. Just thought that was some fine work by our local Jersey government bereaus. Although the clerk was very nice about it and she did apologize and rescind my warrant immediately.

I just ponied up to make it go away. Im going to be looking for a deal from the prosectutor on my latest ticket. And Im sure he will want to know about the warrant. Since his township found it .
If it wasnt for the fact I lived in PA and have a Pa drivers license Jersey would have suspended my license for that 1 dollar.

I just have one question.

How in the hell did you ever pass drivers ed?

Damn speed racer speeding ticket in 03, crash dummy in 05, speeding in 07. There are signs on the side of the road that inform you of the posted speed limits.

Do yourself a favor now for the future. Make sure this thing is COMPLETELY wiped. You don't want an Pre-Employment background check coming back later and showing anything related to this mistake. Make sure it doesn't cost you a job in the future.

Last time I had a traffic warrant and a cop pulled me over...I went to jail.

What's the difference between me and you? I didn't back talk the cop, didn't put up a fuss...so why was I arrested and you were let go?

It won't, traffic violations don't count against you in a background check.

I know a couple of people who have had traffic warrants and were taken to jail when pulled over. I think he was lucky to get the particular cop that he did.

I guess they were all black right Jules.

I think what is being implied here is NDU goes to jail for a traffic warrant while the cracker is allowed to go free.

Maybe, he tried to break my wrist when they booking me...I was pulled over in (I can't remember the city, but it's up Mayfield, where St. Clair's is) and held there until Shaker (where my warrant was) came to get me. As (unremembered city) police were taking my information, granted I was cuffed, the A-hold cop, tries to twist my wrist, for what reason, not really sure...needless to say, I wasn't happy, and proceeded to insult him without using any profanity.

I have 3 cops in my family and come from an Irish background. So I am very comfortable with them. And in all honesty, of course that has gotten me some very large breaks over the years. Have a few PBA cards from local cops that Ive worked for over the years etc. Ive almost always gotten the good side of local officers because of my background.

Speeding in 03 and 07 were all on me. But the wreck in 05 I was rear ended by an old man in an 04 F350. He was issued a failure to maintain ticket, but he went and got a very high priced lawyer. Who issued me a ticket. Yes his lawyer issued me a ticket for wreckless driving. There was no chance of it sticking, but it got his ticket to be dropped. We both agreed not to testify and both charges were dropped. NJ is a no fault state anyway. Although it still ticks me off a little than any Joe Schmoe can issue anyone a ticket in this state.

Niiiiiice! Off subject but same vain...

About three years ago now...
My wife bought a $10 outfit at Children's Place with her Children's place credit card. Somehow the credit card company 'lost' our address. My wife, who had 20 different store credit cards - never noticed that that she didn't receive the $10 credit card bill.

Two years later, we started getting collection letters and phone calls. The bill stood at $250-ish.

Every month that the $10 balance went unpaid, the credit card company tacked on a $20 late fee.

So, that $10 outfit ended up costing us $250 and damaged credit.

Several Officers and I were looking for a suspect, who was from out of town. My LT started running plates and a woman came up on warrants. As the rookie, I had to arrest the mother of two. I knocked on the door and asked her to step outside. I told her she had a warrant and that I was going to arrest her, but didn't want to do it in front of the kids. I told her to tell her husband and then step outside. I arrested her for a $2-3 library fine.

Either way, I had a background check while having an active warrant, and it didn't show up

Well.... I can only say that whoever did the background check didn't do their work or they weren't asked to by the employer.

I work for a company that does these checks. Our clients include 6 of the top 10 accounting firms, Major League Baseball, top Law Firms and other large well known corps.

Active warrants get reported (as well as driving history).
