Every pro roster has some injuries. Guys play hurt in this league. All rosters have a mixture of experience. How can you jusitfy the yardage given up over last year and now this year. How about a playing personality? How about doing something well. Stop the run for an example, or not giving up big plays, or maybe getting turnovers.

Why is RAC getting a free pass. What improvement? We rank last in the league in defense. How can you watch the product on the field and not question the head coach. Results count. We have not won 2 games in a row in 4 years. We have won 3 division games in 3 years. I'm not expecting a superbowl. I expect progress and a consistent effort. I do not see either one. And the buck stops at the door of the head coach.

...and the GM.

But since this perticular thread is about RAC, no, he's not getting a free pass.

It's too easy to fall back to lack of talent as an excuse. People still do it with Couch and Frye, even though they'd proven they weren't up to the task. Here, people are still doing it with RAC.

Lack of talent isn't a factor when it comes to preparing the players to play. The offense looked sloppy and unorganized to start the game, and the defense looked unprepared for all of it. Was there a person alive who didn't scream out that on 3rd and 18 the Raiders would run a draw or a screen? Yet we were unprepared for it. That's on the coaches, as even the worst talents in the NFL could have prepared for that.

No, RAC isn't getting a free pass. What he's getting are excuses made on his behalf, and even those are wearing thin. Sure, even after he's gone people will still make excuses for him, but that doesn't change the fact that he's the one coach on the hotest of hotseats right now, and rightfully so.

Frye's time came and went. RAC is next.........

Every team has injuries, but NO TEAM has had more injuries than the Browns have over the years. NOT ONE.

What improvement? Oh, that's right, you're basing it on THREE GAMES this year. Never mind, I'll wait for you to levitate back to the official board and then talk to those that understand the game and don't overreact after THREE GAMES.

Damon, it really comes back to turnover.
From year 1 we changed 22 players.
From year 2 to now we changed another 15
By my count, and this is a rough count, based on who was here in year 1 and who is here now.
On the defensive side of the ball we have 10 players that were here in year 1.
Actually we have 7, but McGinnest and Washington have played in this system before, so I'm counting them even though they came in year 2.
Mc Cutcheon was here but never played and I think we cut him this year anyway. So that means we have 9 players that have played this Defense for 2 years.
The rest have 1 year or this is their 1st year in it .

Now tell me ,does it really take a rocket scienctist to figure out why the defense isn't very good ?

If the offense used 27 spots on the roster and the defense used 26 spots , than that means what ? 66% of our defense has played 1 or fewer years in this defense and togeather.

Hardly enough time to learn it and jell.

But you know, RAC hasn't intercepted a pass, or had a sack in 35 games so I don't think he's gonna make it .

This is not three games. It's 35 games. I'm not overreacting. I'm a realist. I've been watching this team since 1960. All you have to do is watch the game. We were playing a team that had lost 11 games in a row. Playing with a new coach and a qb with his third team in three years. Have you seen a consistant effort? Did you see a team preparred to win two games in a row?
Did they make adjustments to stop the run? Go ahead and accept excuses, lack of preparation, and motivation. And keep waiting for Romeo to deliver.

Sometimes there is a reason why a coordinator waits for 20 years to be a head coach and gets passed over. Some guys are good coordinators and not head coaches. People like Bud Carson, Buddy Ryan, Norv Turner and Romeo Crennel. In the end it is about results. You can not hide from that.

The defense has been fine before this year. You can say it's all about the total RAC era, but then you refer to ONE GAME. Whatever.

yeah, I know,,, but try to explain that to some others that think that if they get a hangnail, RAC should be fired.....

by the way, there are only 6 players left on this team that RAC and Savage inherited...

Some on here think it's perfectly ok to fire a head coach even if he dosen't have enough talent to win with.. They think it's perfectly ok to give a expect him to make crap into crisco,,,,,

Oh, and when you say that, the first thing that do is Deny that the team lacks talent...... I guess if they want to fool themselves into believing that,, it's ok with me,,,,,,,,

On the offense, I think we have the talent to win a lot of games.. Against a pretty good Defense yesterday, we scored 24 points...

but on D, I"m pretty convinced we are at least a Decent Dline away from respectable,, No way a sorry O like the Raiders should score 26 points on a decent D.

It's funny, isn't it? We have a plan in place that is being followed.

3 OC's since the beginning of last year was "the plan"?

Trying to install a new O scheme while playing musical chairs at the QB position was "the plan"?

Giving up an average of 34 points a game over the first three weeks of this season was "the plan"?

Naming our starting QB only to pull him before the end of the first half of the first game, then trading him two days later was "the plan"?

If that's what you call "the plan"? Yes,yes that is pretty damned funny. And of course losing in a nail biter to one of the,if not the WORSE damned team in the NFL in week three was part of this brilliant "plan" too no doubt?

Some damned PLAN!

I really hope that the Front office in Berea aren't as bad as some fans...

Me too. I hope they hold the coach accountable and run this club like a real business. Rather than wear there hearts on their sleeves and make excuses for failure.

That would be much more refreshing and realistic than a lot of the tripe I've seen here lately.

I guess if you call being ranked 28th overall in the NFL on D last year as "fine"? We have a much different perception as to what the word "fine" means.

It's not what I'm typing that's the problem.
I notice you aren't harping on Toad about it? Of course not. He has a pretty firm grasp of the obvious as well. And the list is growing.
It is what it is Coach. Minus all of the excuses of course.

That's because B and I are keeping our peace

He thinks I'm full of it and vice-versa, but this way we can keep at least some of the white of our jackets free of the mud *L*

No, you and I can debate things. Pit has constantly been screaming for things and when they are posted ignores them and continues to rant. It's one thing to disagree with a point of view, as you and I do, but Pit wants to win an arguement and will change stances, ignore posts, or dismiss anything that doesn't say he's right. It's old, tired, and laughable if not so sad. This thread alone shows him doing it repeatedly. That's the "tripe" I'm referring to.

Ah! He picks and chooses who to sling mud at!

I can't say I blame him. It's much easier to do when you keep the mud slinging oposition to a minimum and a group attempts to focus the mud to a select few.

If there's a grain of truth to this post Coach, why is it you are seemingly reluctant to debate Toad on this subject? It seems he shares at least a tad bit of my same viewpoint.

At least to when it comes to RAC's ability to be a good NFL head coach? Rather odd. I actually believe you feel you would be outclassed in the debate.

At least you believe I'm a great projectionist!

Which is pretty much what a person does when they look at obvious signs and indications, then realisticly and objectively uses those factors to project the most likely outcome of said factors.

Thanks Coach!
