You want steady progress/consistency from a team that in very young, has a streaky QB, an offensive line just learning one another! Well you might get it this year but I bet this will be another rollercoaster ride.
Probably... people want the team to get better in a linear fashion... better each week than the previous week... it's not going to happen like that. There are going to be extreme highs and extreme lows (and we experienced both in the first two weeks ) Hopefully by the end of the year we will start to see some consistency setting in where we have identified our strengths and are able to use them consistently and begin to improve on our weaknesses... until then, buckle up folks..

Pout? Hah...I don't pout..I grab a limb and I bite it until I break it off. I never have had a problem with anyone disagreeing with me. Debated Pit before..nothing personal against him.. You're free to interpet whatever it is however you like... I 'm not here to coddle anyone. You'll find I'm not mean..but just sarcastic and you have to take my comments with a grain of salt..

DC and Others, You know what Pit and the other fire RAC crowd forgets about the last 3 years. If you think about it, this is the FIRST YEAR( so far, knock on wood, kiss a cross..etc) that we have not had major injuries coming out of pre-season!! Now add that to a roster that was constantly in flux, young talent..etc. Of course the fire RAC crowd forgets that important issue!! And over the last 2 years, the Browns have a one of the longer IR lists at the end of each year!

I thought that was name calling as well, and don't see it as being sarcastic, but I haven't read enough of his posts to make an accurate determination I guess, so far though, it's not looking good for him.

Man I feel that pain also,, But it's still ONLY ONE GAME...
This is a different team than last season,. it's not the same. Heck, it's not even the same now as it was a week ago... Way more focused or so it would seem,,
I'd say that no matter how you slice the pie, someone somewhere, be it the players or the coaches or the HC saying to a couple of player to take charge of the squad,,,, Don't know how it came down,, but something happened,,
Maybe they just wanted to show the world that they aren't as bad as the Pittsburgh game said they are.. maybe they did it for themselves, maybe they did it for the HC,,
Who knows, but something was a heck of a lot different between the two weeks,, Which one is real, well, that's yet to be determined, and that TAKES TIME... MORE TIME

It is still a process.
The hole was dug over a few years.
Last week was a good week....a few shovels full of dirt were put back in the hole.
The hole is still there, but we made a good move towards filling it...without question better than digging it any deeper.

Well, kinda my point Peen,, That was quite a hole he was in.. and yeah,, some dirt went back in.. But would you agree that it is not as simple as a WIN means dirt goes in and a loss means dirt comes out? A Loss like the one against the Steelers,, oh yeah,, that's digging deeper,, But at least Pittsburgh is perceived as a solid team,,, A contender in fact. But would a loss to the Bengals,, say on that last Cinci drive, had we not intercepted it and Johnson goes in for a TD and we lose by 1 point in a shoot out,, does that mean that the hole gets a WHOLE bunch deeper? Is there NO wiggle room when playing a powerful offense like Cinci's? On the other hand, pick a team that has a problem scoring on anyone and if they Drop 52 on you,, then YEAH,, That's digging the hole way deeper.. That I would concede.. This week we are playing the Raiders,, I caught some highlights of thier game against Denver and to be honest, that Defense of Oakland isn't the worse I've seen in recent years... But thier offense wasn't anything at all to brag about. If they Drop 30 or more on us and we lose, I may be jumping to your side of the fence next Sunday... If that happens and we win, I still won't be too happy but as you say, it's a win. But it won't put a lot of dirt back in the hole for me either... Crap,, am I making any sense at all here?

Michelle, to some degree, that's probably true,,
Being a diehard Browns fan, I want to win and if someone isn't helping, then they are hurting our chances of winning.. that's pretty simple right?
If only this game and all that goes with it were that simple, then everything would be easy and no problem,,,
If only Player Talent wasn't part of the equation then it would be simple. If Injuries weren't a part of it, then it would be simple. If the talent of the opposition didn't play into it, then it would be simple,,
But,, it doesn't work that way,,
So yeah, I can see both sides of the argument.. I've taken a side for now, but I reserve the right to change my mind if it comes to that...

I have said it a hundred times and guess I will have to keep saying it.....it isn't so much about the record...sure, some of it has to....but it is more about how we play......We can lose and still fill in the hole...and we can win and still dig deeper....though that is a bit harder...wins cover much.
Even this win has it's negatives...the outcome shouldn't be in question late in the game when you score 51 points......but based on all that happened last week...this game was huge for our team and am not too worried about that right now.
We sorted some things out and managed to put away the dirty laundry .

Maybe you should dig a little deeper and look at the circumstances behind each season. For example the starting QB, strength of schedule etc.
They came in here blind with NO talent to match their scheme and pulled of six wins.

There has been no consistency in our roster over the past few years so how can you expect consistency in gameplay?
I expect players to be "coached up to their ability". And in case you missed it,this "huge player turnover" was to bring guys in that COULD play their system. So why don't you look at that? You replace guys who CAN'T play your system with guys who FIT your system. And go BACKWARDS?
The player turnover thing is a two edged sword. Yes we have a lot of turnover. According to the fans on this board,it's a built in excuse to lose. But according to the FO it's building a team to fit their system and improvement every year. Seems like THEY hold themselves more accountable than you do. Or even MOST of the people around here.

Once the roster stabilizes we will start to see the consistency we are all looking for, especially once Quinn takes over.
"Roster stabalization". A mythical term that simply does not exist in the day of the FA system. We have what? Two more years on Braylon and KW2's contract? Tell me just how "stable" ANY roster EVER is in this day and age with trades and FA's. Of course the Texans could use your excuse. IF they were losing!

We'll learn a lot about RAC over the next two weeks as we play one of the worst teams in the NFL and one of the better teams. And then do the same the following two weeks. I hope RAC gets it done. Oakland and Miami are "must win" games as Baltimore and New England are still out of our weight class.
I just thought this was one of the better thoughts in this thread and that it whould be broght back out....Thanks Gift
I gotta admit I am on the Fence here right next to Daman. After that first week I was ready to step on the Fire Romeo wagon, the ONLY things holding me back at that time were:
1- It WAS only one game, albeit, a horrible one game, but only one game. 2- I REALLY do not want to go through ANOTHER coaching change and the excuses that will fly if we continue to lose.
Those are the ONLY two reasons I was still riding the fence.
And to be honest (since it seems so many of us are trying to do ), last week was also ONLY ONE GAME.
Gift summed it up pretty well for me. These next couple of weeks will prove it all for me. Can we beat or at least be VERY competitive with Oakland, Miami and even Baltimore, (who I think is overrated this yr.), and can we at least be respectable with New England?
That's two games we should have every chance to win (Miami, Oakland), one game, that I feel we can win, (Baltimore), and one that I don't give us much of a chance (New England). Then the Bye week..............How we play those games will tell me which side of the fence I am going to come down on.
Please believe me when I say that I hope I come down on Romeo's side.
I just don't know that I will right now

The ONLY argument you have is that he won fewer games in year two vs year one... PIT,, Stuff happens even to the best of coaches.. Look at Cowhers last year with the Steelers,,, 8-8 after winning the Superbowl.. Look at what's happened to Gibbs in Washington and Parcells in Dallas.. Look at Jimmy Johnson when he left Dallas and went to Miami,,
You're trying to compare head coaches with some "proven success" to a guy who hasn't proven SQUAT!??? Apples and oranges. IF RAC had success in the past as a head coach, sure, not everybody bats 1000. But you're looking at guy who's pretty much batted zero so far and trying to use THAT as a comparison? Pulease..............
You obviously haven't been reading my posts for the past couple of weeks Damon. Of course you have.
The "two win less" was "part of the equasion" Why did we lose two more games? In large part?
Because RAC stuck with Mo. A VERY poor coaching decision. And you know as well as I do that Phil finaly had to step in and throw down the axe. See,that's what GM's do when people under them can't do their jobs.
And again this year,RAC has painted us as the fools. Once again, from everything we've heard,it was RAC who named Frye the starter after going through "coin gate" and some stupid competition. While Chud and others in the organisation knew Frye simply didn't fit the system.
Our team OFTEN comes out flat and unprepared. Half time adjustments have been non existant.
I could go on and on and you know it. I've listed a myriad of reasons over the past nine days or so and you've read them all. So I don't know WHY in the hell you're going with this "the only reason" crap Damon. You know that's not true.
Quote:
Stuff happens to even great coaches. But nope, you and lots of others want to look at one stat,.., we lost 2 more games in the second year. And that's the answer.
I've already covered this line of tripe.
Quote:
I don't believe that's the case at all. I think he can turn this ship around with the talent we NOW have.. Yet, and perhaps not so much you, some still want him fired RIGHT NOW... How moronic is that really.,.... VERY!
Firstly, there is NOTHING in his "head coaching resume" to lead you to believe he can "turn this around". NOTHING! And many indications in what he has,or should I say "hasn't" done here to indicate he won't turn it around.
So if you want to fly by the seat of the pants using "blind faith" in some type of "hope" that he can, fine. But NOTHING has been shown on his part that he can or will.
You live in the land of hope that he will magicly be able to........
Get this team "game ready" on a weekly basis. That every time we fall behind early,he can pull his head out of his ass and rally the troops to actually WORK HARD trying to come from behind instead of rolling over and playing dead. Suddenly learn how to make proper half time adjustments. Learn to be decisive. You know, like NAME A QB! Like when he SHOULD HAVE gotten rid of Mo?
I could go on,but that will do for starters. So you can keep your "blind faith" because that's all it is. A mythical hope that a frog will turn into a prince.
Think about it for a minute. The BEST THINGT to happen to this team so far this year was a players only meeting
They did a better job of getting THEMSELVES motivated and game ready in ONE meeting WITHOUT RAC than RAC has been able to do in two plus years!
That doesn't tell you ANYTHING?????

You go through injuries EVERY year. All teams do it. It's not an excuse. It's a very real part of the NFL. We've been VERY lucky "so far" but the law of averages still exist. But while every other coach deals with injuries and carries on,it'll be yet another excuse for the "RAC rationaisers" if we do have many injuries. So I certainly hope we don't go through them. The fewer excuses you guys will be able to use,the better I will like it.

In the FA age of the NFL ALL rosters are in flux EVERY year. Hell, look at NE during this past off season. If you're waiting for "roster stability" you're a generation late. Once again, that's nothing but an excuse.

And what does that have to do with NOT having the players you DO have ready to play? What does that have to do with ZERO half time adjustments? What does that have to do with him not firing Mo and Savage having to FINALY step in and FORCE him to do it?
You act like it's all about the W/L column and it never has been. It's about poor coaching skills overall.

Nothing in history shows that a coach, with a winning history or not, can come to a team devoid of talent, and turn it around in 2 years, any more than a coach with no history shows he can't.
I;m willing to give him this year to show advancement. year 3 of a 5 year plan.....we are 2.125 years into the plan, not even half way.
Now if by the end of the year, I don't see significant improvement, I'll be concerned.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

Really,, Cowher came in and started winning pretty quickly, but he had a reasonably sound foundation to build on. Jimmy Johnson had Crap in Dallas and built it up ,, went to Miami and didn't. Proven coach,, didn't win after he left dallas.
Joe Gibbs left as a winner,,, got in the HOF even.. Came back to Washington and is just now after what 3 or is it 4 years, getting things back together.. not only that, but look at his coaching staff.. a who's who of former HC's and top Coordinators.
Parcells was a winner with the Giants,, Takes the Pats to the Superbowl and can't do much with Dallas, and it could be that during his tenure in Dallas, QB withstanding, he had more talent than RAC inherited here.
Point being, it's NO guarantee that getting a Parcells, or Gibbs or Johnson or in this case Fisher in here will mean instant success... Cowher and Marty as well.
So if you want to say it's apples and oranges,, be my guest, but it isn't!

Do you even bother reading the posts? Nobody said ANYTHING about "turning it around". Although it's happenned for many other teams. It's about his methodology and what he's "shown" in his coaching qualities. See below..............

It's not about "turning things at a 180". It's about sound coaching. Which would have put us further than we are now. No,not a SB or playoff team, but "competative and respectable on a weekly basis".

And the points I have made show just cause why "we shouldn't expect it". Having hope is a great thing. But as I've pointed out, there's not been much shown by RAC to base that hope upon.

I will say it's apples and oranges. Look at Parcells. I mean we can go tat for tat all day on this. The difference is,quality coaches make sound coaching decisions. RAC doesn't. Quality coaches make sound half time adjustments. RAC doesn't. Quality coaches have their teams prepared on game day. Generaly speaking,RAC doesn't. Bottom line,a quality coach gives you "the best chance for success" because of HOW they coach. RAC doesn't. Now you go on with that "Mensa style" stat thingy if you want to. But good coaches make good decisions. They put their team in the best possible position to win. They may not always "produce champions" every year, but they're competative. RAC isn't. You see it and you understand it. You just won't admit it.

Another point to throw out there...
After RAC stuck with Mo, that meant Dilfer wanted out. Threatened retirement if he wasn't traded.
Therefore, RAC hitched his wagon to Frye. We all know how that turned out.
Now, before CoachB comes in and blasts me for blaming the QB for last year...Are we a good team with Dilfer under center and a different OC? HEAVENS NO. But are we the bumbling, stumbling mess we were last year with him under center? Do we give up nearly as many sacks and therefore lose first down chances and field position? After watching DA the past couple weeks, I honestly wonder...(for the record, yes I know our line improved this past offseason...but if you saw the first quarter and a half of week one you wouldn't have thunk it!)

Great... you hope we don't have injuries... not so we might win games... but to make it easier for you to blame the coaches if we lose.... that's good logic Pit, shows total devotion to your team... Not really...
Quote:
Hell, look at NE during this past off season. If you're waiting for "roster stability" you're a generation late.
LMAO.. Pit, perhaps you need a lesson in what "roster stability" means... yes, all teams try to upgrade so there is SOME turnover... but let's look at the Patriots as an example of roster instability... 9 of their 11 offensive starters from last year are starting again this year, including...
a seasoned veteran proven QB... the entire offensive line the RB, FB, and TE
I believe all but Mulroney the RB have been there 3 years, many like 5 or 6 years.... so they upgraded both WR spots with pro-bowl caliber WRs.. you call that instability?
Oh, maybe the turnover is on the defense... both corners 3+ years.. both safeties 3+ years.. the entire DL 4+ years... all but one LB 5+ years... They added Adalius Thomas...
So let's recap the Patriots instability... the turnover they experienced was exactly 2 wide receivers and a linebacker... all of which were upgrades over what they had before...
Pit... find another example.

Bringing up valid points like this will fall on deaf ears. RACs mistakes are more than obvious to those willing to objectively look at it. Plus hitching his wagon to Mo,cost us another year of development on O. Instead of starting over last year,we had to do it this year.
When are people going to wake up and realise how much RACs decisions have cost us to this point? And how long untill they are honest enough with themselves yo see that even now,on a weekly basis he does not measure up to coaches around the league?
I mean let's face it,when we finaly DO look good on O anyway,it took a "team ONLY meeting" to fire these guys up to play this way! And who WASN'T there to interfere? RAC!

I don't really need "another example" DC. Even you know that in the age of FA talent leaves, rookies start and there is no "team stability" over the course of a few years. This isn't the 70's anymore and everyone knows that. Look at our team. How much longer is Tuckers contract? How about KW2's? Braylons? That's why you make the most of what you've got WHILE you've got it. Since you seem hung up on the Patriots, look at the player and coaching turnover there in the last three years. After all, that IS the timetable you've all been using with RAC,is it not?

We've been VERY lucky "so far" but the law of averages still exist. But while every other coach deals with injuries and carries on,it'll be yet another excuse for the "RAC rationaisers" if we do have many injuries. So I certainly hope we don't go through them. The fewer excuses you guys will be able to use,the better I will like it.
You mean to tell me that the long list of injuries we had over the last 2 years, coupled with the thin amount of NFL talent we had on those teams did not have an effect on wins/losses, consistency, LEARNING..etc!! Please! I ask in a earlier post, how many players do we have that could start or be second string on the teams in our division. Merth was the only one who answered - 10, of which 2 where on special teams, 5 were picked up just 2 years and 5 have been injured at one point in time. Plus with the backups that we had to use, many of which are not even playing as of TODAY in the NFL, what are yout alking about!

In the FA age of the NFL ALL rosters are in flux EVERY year. Hell, look at NE during this past off season. If you're waiting for "roster stability" you're a generation late. Once again, that's nothing but an excuse.
Your trying to compare the stability of NE to Cleveland, are you kidding me!!! LMAO.. you should be ashamed to even use that example.
As far as poor coaching skills, everytime we ask the players or get quotes from players, even the ones from NE, they say he taught them alot!!!!

To weigh in on the Mo and Frye talk. Thats, essentially 1.5 mistakes. Looking all in all at Romeo's tenure, those are the only really HUGE mistakes hes made. He's been bad with the challenge flag, but thats not all him either. Theres people in the booth who are telling him when and when not to challenge too.
By sticking with Mo, he wanted to maintain that continuity that we'd been so desperately seeking. Ok it didn't work out. Ya live and learn.
Frye, young guy with some promise and a lot of heart. Give him a shot. It didnt work out. Ok, mistake we move on. and now we're at Derek. With Charlie Frye, it didnt matter. Brady was and still is perceived to be THE GUY, and if you go with Frye and he does bad, or Anderson and he does bad, youre in hot water either way.
Granted Romeo hasnt been perfect. But the guy is learning. He's growing as a coach just like our team is growing as a team.
You can bet that if we fire Romeo and he ever did get another head coaching job. He'd do well. Remember, Belichek was run out of town because of a bad decision. Not completely, but that didnt help. When he left, he had learned and was ready. But he didnt have his own hole to dig out of.
Right now Romeo is digging out of his own hole (I got your analogy daman). Thats a little tougher than going to someone else's flat ground and building a hill with it. He's filling in his own hole. Let him try. Why not right?
Sound coaching or not, its improving, and if thats what we want from the team, then we should allow the coach that same luxury. Improvement is the name of the game. Romeo isnt regressing, he is progressing too
"It has to start somewhere It has to start somehow What better place than here? What better time than now?"

You should be ashamed of trying to avoid all the points I've made that show RAC is not head coaching material. Why don't you go back and address them instead of spouting drivel?
EVERY team has a lot of player turnover in a three year period in the NFL. N.Eng. included. AND coaching changes such as OC,DC and position coaches. It's the FA system. Get a clue.

Sure! As a DC! He was NEVER the head coach at NE was he? That's the entire point. Being a good DC doesn't make you a good head coach.
You should be ashamed for trying to use that comparison!

Great... you hope we don't have injuries... not so we might win games... but to make it easier for you to blame the coaches if we lose.... that's good logic Pit, shows total devotion to your team... Not really...
You can stop with the "devotion" leading towards "you're not a REAL fan" crap DC. It's old, tired and nothing but a desperate move. Plus, questioning a real Browns fans loyalty just because you're on opposite sides of a debate doesn't speak all that well of your character IMO
I'm the one advocating we QUIT getting our asses handed to us on a plate every year here.
Not the one who advocates sticking with a guy who's more likely to break his own neck before the Browns ever break playing .500 ball.
I'd say advocating bringing a winner to Cleveland rather than sticking with what's BROKE around here makes me devoted enough.
Not sure about those who would rather make excuses than expect accountability from our head coach. BLIND loyalty can be an ugly thing. Especially when you're putting ONE MAN in front of the "better good of the team as a whole". So you might want to consider that. I'm devoted to the Browns, not RAC. Some can't seem to see that, but there's quite a difference there..
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. When it is broke,it's time to man up,take charge and do something about it.
I have faith that Savage will.

Come on, with the talent he's had prior to this, I'm surprised the man hasn't gone out back and just shot himself.. But you don't want to take that into account.,.,

Not to but in, well thats a lie, how do you know what Savage is thinking? I'll answer that, you don't so making statements such as you did don't bold well, we can all only speculate.
Then don't butt in ! If you are going to then try doing some homework first, before you call someone a lier.

Savage, There is no hot seat.... During his 40 minute state-of-the-Browns speech... Savage said Romeo Crennel's job is not in jeopardy in any way, shape,or form. "I've said it 10 times that he is the right man for the job" "There is no hot seat, this, that,or the other. Yeah if we get beat 50-0 in the first six games, that is a diffrent story, but I don't think that is going to happen."
Seems pretty clear what Savage is thinking, doesn't it.

More years like Mo ? LMAO Mo got one more year, the same as what I think RAC will get.
Mo got one entire season and half of another one. This will be RAC's third and you're proposing giveing him a fourth? Why should he get over twice as much time as Mo did? He either does well in year three,or pack his bags. By the end of this year,he will have had TWICE as long as Mo did as it is. That's quite enough to see if he "has what it takes" or not. Why in the hell would Phil put his ass on the line to support a coach who's failing miserably and risk throwing his career down the crapper in the process? Phil's smarter than that.
Quote:
Changing a OC really isn't comparable to changing HCs When you change HCs your entire system changes. Are you ready to go through two more years of losing while the new guy intalls his prefrences.
Not so fast Grasshopper. If we can get Marty,Chud and Marty have worked together. He's pretty much running Martys O scheme now. No real "adjustment there" will be needed. So your point is moot. It's just another Myth perpetuated that holds very little merrit. He also runs the three/four. We have the LB core already in place. It's a perfect fit for Marty "as is". Well, with Granthom giving up about 40 points a game he may be replaced. But hey, could a new guy do worse than that?
Besides,if Romeo can't coach the talent he has? You're just promoting us wasting yet another year before starting over with a new coach. And guess what? Your way just puts us yet ANOTHER year behind. How is that any "improvement"?
Quote:
With RAC nothing changes and we continue growing. Inspite of what you believe, we haven't completed the talent turnover, yes the talent is better, but we aren't even middle tier let alone top tier.
That's a pretty big leap there. What has RAC shown you that makes you think we'll continue to grow? Hell, for that matter what to this point has shown you we've "grown" at all since he's been here? In case you forgot,we went BACKWARDS last year, not forward. 6-2=4
Quote:
You seem to be the one that figured out RAC isn't going to work out, problem is Savage doesn't share your opinion right now.
You have NO CLUE what Phils opinion of RAC is accept what he's "told the media". No clue at all. Just remember,Phil didn't hire RAC in the first place. He inherrited him. He wasn't Phils first choice then, and after the way he's worked out so far,I doubt if he's Phils first choice now.
You made a lot of statements there that are in no way based in fact. Purely conjecture and guesswork on your part.
As I stated, Mo got one more season, I stand corrected, he got 1/2 of a season.
Marty's scheme, LMAO Marty not known as an offensive wizzard, has a scheme. No , Chud is running a scheme he ran in Miami, the scheme also is what was run in SD, it was installed by their current coach Norv Turner.
The talent appears to be progressing fine. To state otherwise is one mans opinion vs anothers
Your only argument is we went backward ? pleeese.
I have no clue ? All I have is what he told the media ? Do you have a hotline to Phil, that disputes what he has stated ? I tend to take a man at his word.
Savage, there is no hot seat. (Browns archive 9/1/07) Romeo Crennel's job is not in Jeopardy in any way shape or form. " I've said it 10 times that he is the right man for the job. Phil didn't hire RAC ? Now thats a reach.
Savage flies through first week. (Browns archive 1/18/05 ) The day after accepting the job Savage spent Fri morning Jan. 7 interviewing defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel.
Crennel discusses interview. ( Browns archive 2/1/05 ) Crennel's interview took place in New England Jan 7. Present were Crennel, team president John Collins, owner Randy Savage, and new genral manager Phil Savage.
You doubt he was Phils first choice ? Are you guessing ?
So there you go grasshopper, those ARE the facts, as stated by Phil.
Wouldn't it just be easier to state you don't like RAC, you loved Marty, and now that he's availiable you think we should change ?
Forget the fact that you try to twist the truth to fit you agenda. You make statements with nothing to back them up, except we went backward last year.

I take it into account. You just don't see it. And don't feed me this BS that you can't make half time adjustments because of your talent. That's just lame. And you know it.
Yes,you judge a coach on his "body of work". You don't go "oops! Well,we'll just forget about his failures with Mo and not having the team prepared for games, poor half time adjustments,etc....for two years"
It ain't a damned tax write off.

You have no idea what could have been done by a "real coach" with the talent we had. NONE! Neither do I. But I can say they would have been properly coached, motivated and stood a better chance of winning on a weekly basis. Wheather they won or not. And you YOURSELF said he had better talent in year two,but yet he won TWO LESS games? Yeah, that's "fuzzy math" all-right. Oh yeah, that's right, that's the year he stuck with a bumb of an OC too long. Think RAC will make the same mistake THIS time!??
Now? We HAVE enough talent to win and or be competative on a weekly basis. Excuse time is over!

Well I read about the first 5 or so posts...I stopped cause nobody is going to change from one game. But I'll throw my opinion in here.
First off RAC has been very open and honest and has taken a lot of hits but has stayed true to his convictions.
He has stated from the get go that he is not doing any quick fixes - he is taking the long hard road. But when things get done its not going to be a One Season blow em up get em in the playoff team. It will be a dynasty of multi playoff years and upgrades.
What we saw last week was the emergence of the OL. We have not had one here since 99. We saw the value of a cornerstone left tackle. Long runs to the left with big holes and a clean QB who did not have to worry about his backside.
DA did not have a great game due his performance...actually DA was DA he had his Hot streaks and his cold streaks like we have seen every game that he has played. The cold streaks didn't hurt us...and we actually had some guys make some great plays on those not so good throws.
On D we played the run well and stuffed them when we needed to. This was with 7 in the box as we played a pass oriented defense ala basic Cover two and had our nickel backs in a lot.
We never matched up well against the Bengals offense...never. This time two things hurt us.
1. Peeks injury...he hardly got any pass rush off and was sorely missed - I hope he's 100% in our next meeting.
2. We were caught short again with Corners and against a team that lives on 3/4 WR sets. Our #1 has a reocurring ankle and thursday pulled a groin. Our #2 is a rookie who for the most part I thought he played well.
Our #3 was out injured our #4 was in there as well as our #5 Kenny Wright n McDonald. Perry was cut. Baxter was out.
Holley was important for this game and a healthy Bodden against the Bengals more than any team was missed. Combined with the lack of Peek on the pass rush.
And because we were scoring so much - they were going with a lot of Spread offense.
Anyways what RAC has been preaching is continuity and us getting better. Our Impact talent is young. We btw didn't just win on Sunday and this goes away...we set NFL Records...well at least one NFL Record...Never in the history of the NFL did they have a team throw 5 TD passes and also have a 200 yd rusher. We didn't just show up on Offense we did something no other team in the NFL ever did.
Fire RAC? Continuity we are just turning the corner.
I know, I know he doesn't win challenges. Well actually we should all send letters to Perrera on the last challenge he did not win...send in the mock look of Momma as he got away with a touchdown.
JMHO
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

In case you missed it? Chud came from San Diego while working under Marty.not Norv. So it is the SAME system that was ran "under Marty" in San Diegao. Jeesh kid, semantics are for rookies. Get a clue kid. He and Marty worked well together JUST LAST YEAR! Yeah,it has nothing to do with Marty!

The talent has been progressing since year one. But the wins only got fewer, not better.

Get a clue. I've stated LOTS of reasons! Sorry you aren't reading my posts.
Quote:
I have no clue ? All I have is what he told the media ? Do you have a hotline to Phil, that disputes what he has stated ? I tend to take a man at his word.
You tend to take "PR statements" over common sense. You have every right to do that. But I won't be joining you. Do you actually EXPECT Phil to tell the media that RAC is on a short leash? That RAC's "on the hot seat"? Do you?
Quote:
Savage, there is no hot seat. (Browns archive 9/1/07) Romeo Crennel's job is not in Jeopardy in any way shape or form. " I've said it 10 times that he is the right man for the job. Yes,you really do,don't you? You honestly believe that Phil would openly state to the media that RAC IS on the hot seat! We're back to the "clueless" part again.
Quote:
Phil didn't hire RAC ? Now thats a reach.
Not really. Most on here know that was a Lerner/Collins call. And RAC wasn't Phils first choice.
Quote:
You doubt he was Phils first choice ? Are you guessing ?
Yep. I doubt the hell out of it. From everything I've seen,he would have prefered Kubiac.
Quote:
So there you go grasshopper, those ARE the facts, as stated by Phil.
Phil doesn't tell the media "the facts". He tells them what he wants them to here, period. If you take what he tells the media as "fact" you're in for a LOT of disapoiintments.
Quote:
Wouldn't it just be easier to state you don't like RAC, you loved Marty, and now that he's availiable you think we should change ?
Why would I say I don't "like" RAC? He's a HELLUVA nice guy! But he's shown NO SIGNS of being a good head coach. You're good at making excuses. Now list the qualities YOU'VE SEEN SINCE RAC has been a HEAD COACH that lead you to believe he'll be successfull.
Go ahead. Cut the crap and list them. It shouldn't take long.
Quote:

Great half time adjustments? Team properly prepared on a weekly basis? Fight hard and play every down of every game?
How about RAC stating HIMSELF that they're not good enough to come from behind when they get behind early? Good coaching there?
You go ahead and list all of those "great coaching qualities" you've seen in RAC since he's been here. Because attacking me isn't proving a damned thing accept you basicly don't have anything to show he CAN be a good head coach.
Make your list. I'll be waiting.....................

Yes,and this time a team that "looked to be bad" had one. Once they depended on "themselves" they looked better.
You are right about other teams having team meetings. But with good coaching,it hasn't taken a "team meeting" for them to be competative after over two years has it?
RAC had all of training camp and the pre season to prepare this team for the Steelers. Results?
Then, the team WITHOUT RAC have a "team only" meeting. Results?
Now you may wish to brush that off if you will. But I look at results achieved by different methods. RAC had a couple of months and laid an egg. This team got together and hashed things out WITHOUT him and provided a win.
Write that off if you want to. But it's a pretty obvious thing just to "write off".
