That's just sad. Christianity is a mixed bag. As with most things you have some on the fringe. Religion is sometimes used as a tool. A tool of control and of persuasion.
Not all religion is bad. But as often is the case, religion has done more to bastardize Christianity than anything else. This is certainly the case here.

It's that way with most anything in the news. The bad gets the press.
We as a species are more apt to become emotionally involved in the negative stories rather than the positive.
There are many more churches and religious groups out there teaching love and acceptance.
My grandfather used to say, "There is a reason their is a complaint DEPARTMENT, and only a comment box."
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

I have another saying about faith in general.
The fact there's a stairway to heaven and a highway to hell tells you a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

So...you've got absolutely nothing. Just like with the drum beat of the consistent and constant use of the race card. It's BS.
Did you even read your own reply? Ridiculous. He's talking about ILLEGAL immigrants. Not simply immigrants...or migrants...and not even remotely or specifically targeting a 'brown' person. Frankly I'm very confused about his response to my post and how it ended going in that direction. He brought up de-institutionalizing which is a valid concern but then went COMPLETELY OFF THE RAILS in his next paragraph to rehearsed CNN rhetoric. This is very confusing to me. It certainly does not attempt to help solve the problem or bring many solutions, my post did that.

The left never talks about the black on black crime happening in Chicago because it doesn't fit their narrative. Haven't heard a SINGLE democrat candidate mention Chicago and I think that is a DISGRACE!

I think we also need to take time and understand how Chicago got into that mess in the first place, mostly entirely under Democrat rule for the past couple decades.Just saying. I know that's a sore subject for the Dems.

Per capita Chicago doesn't even rank in the top 10 by county. Actually, three of the top 10 are in Alabama. 10 U.S. counties with the highest murder rate Looking at the per capita data, these counties have the highest homicide rates in the country. https://www.policeone.com/ambush/articles/370416006-10-U-S-counties-with-the-highest-murder-rate/This was as of June 2017 when they were screaming about Chicago the loudest. It seems they have a problem comprehending that with a higher population the total number of murders make headlines. When in fact, if you look at it per capita, their BS falls short. Many of these counties are small, rural, southern counties where the opioid crisis and drugs in general have taken hold. I've told people over and over again that crime was just as bad in rural southern areas but they don't want to hear it because it doesn't fit their narrative.

Poor, desperate people with guns- and few options.
Urban, rural, east, west, melanin enriched/impoverished... people are the same everywhere. Place them under the same sorts of societal stressers and they will respond in the same way, every time. In every conceivable zip code.
Population density drives news headlines. Per capita figures tell the truth.

Well it IS Alabama. That place is terrible. Just living there will make you murderous. You dont even have to be a drug addict.

Are we still debating correlations between weapons and violence? Sounds similar to CO2 and climate.
Why don’t you guys pretend you aren’t egotistical Americans, and follow the global model? If you choose weapons, don’t be surprised to find yourself amongst blood. At least ankle deep

Why don’t you guys pretend you aren’t egotistical Americans, and follow the global model? If you choose weapons, don’t be surprised to find yourself amongst blood. At least ankle deep Because we're the United States of America. Not some other country with a globalist, socialist, communist rulership with anti-citizen policy. As far as I know we're the ONLY country in the known world with freedom of speech and the 2nd amendment. Now I know the left likes to kiss the ass of the government daily, but the real reason we have the 2nd amendment is to protect ourselves against the government. Democrats still don't seem to understand that basic tenant. Until they do there won't be an inch made unless its with mental illness reform. You think people are going to register, turn in guns, Ha! Never! This is the current plan of the Democratic party. The dems need to start talking about our culture and what's happened with that but I'm not hearing it. Their party doesn't even try to be moderate anymore, they are unhinged.

then you dont know crap.
first off, if you honestly think no other countries have freedom of speech, then you have zero credibility to even talk about this.
also, please, explain to the board why gun rights in other countries would be called the 2nd amendment?
people in switzerland can own guns. is it called the 2nd amendment over there? no.
AND, if you dont think the US has socialist policies since before you were even born, then that is just another reason why your credibility sinks like the titanic.

I tend to think the mass shooting problem goes way beyond guns.....its a pervasive feeling in the collective consciousness that we are trapped in an awful life.....and the desperation to get out of this miserable existence leads people towards a fiery exit taking out as many of the perceived perpetrators as possible.....
And we see it everyday....its the dems, the repubs, libs, conservatives, pro-life, pro-gun, politically-correct, the elite, the poor, the druggies, the blacks, the browns, the whites, the privileged.....
Just pick a grouping, move forward in your pitiful life without much hope for anything better, and as things get worse, instead of looking at yourself---just blame them---whoever "they" are, for your downward trajectory.....and pretty soon, as desperation grows into a seething rage....someone somewhere snaps and we all get to watch it..
mass shooting
It is our society that breeds all this rage and resentment, and we have no answers for this.....
So we make more laws, and further restrict people's rights, and turn more ppl into criminals...….its a sad state of affairs here in America...….
I tend to think that a nationwide campaign of acceptance is in order......grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference..
I wish to wash my Irish wristwatch......

If you honestly believe the semi automatic weapons we are allowed to own is enough fire power to, "protect ourselves against the government", you are sadly misinformed or just using it as an excuse to bolster your argument.
Armored Hum V's with automatic weapons would wipe out anything you could possibly have legally. Hand held rocket launchers anyone?
Surely you understand the weapons owned by the public could not possibly protect you from the government.

You know, I actually agree with you.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm for a comprehensive national background check. I haven't really heard of anything else that I think would even help the spread of the problem. And they key word is "spread".
The problem isn't going away or even slow down much as far as I can see. I mean even if we're talking about what people call assault rifles. Estimates I've seen range from five million to ten million currently in circulation. And the law permits people to sell guns from one private citizen to another with no background checks required.
So there are a vast amount of these weapons that nobody has a clue as to where they are and who owns them. And that doesn't even take into consideration large capacity semi automatic pistols.
The only reason I even support expanded background checks is not to even further compound the problem.
But the extremes people go to in order to act as though this will help answer the problem to any real degree either don't understand the mass amount of these weapons already in circulation or they are just using emotions to garner votes.
