Some good points are made in this interview. I think we sometimes lose sight of the human toll when our team's lose. This is a long, but very good read and it sheds light on the humanity behind Hue and his darkest days:

It's a good read. You gotta feel for the dude when you separate yourself from being a fan of the team. Not just the dark days of the losing, not just the dark days of the aftermath, but the dark future of forever being attached to 1-31. Dude has done a lot of good work in the league and has to feel like it will forever be overshadowed by a team that ripped things to the studs and expected magic from him with no real talent. He never points the finger at anyone but himself though, hate him or love him, that's the sign of a true leader.

I thought it was a good read ... it gave a good view of him at the moment and how much he wanted to succeed here. Of course, he didn’t and we were astonishingly bad record-wise ... but, maybe he’ll get another coordinating job somewhere

That would have been a useful trait to have had when he was supposed to be the Browns' leader.

It's a shame he didn't learn to hide his ego sooner.

Really appreciate you sharing this. Great article. Definitely speaks to Hue's passion for football. As a minority, I understand the weight of trying to be successful. It's not easy. And for some, it's a life sentence of trying to defeat the odds and finish 'on top.' Hue wears that. Its the gift and the curse.

Hope he gets another shot to join the NFL sidelines. I think he's a much better coach than what his record shows, and a much better coach that some other guys who have been granted second and third chances.

After reading the story and having some time to process it, it does kind of make me wonder if his health was a factor.

Extreme stress (losing and family crises), blackouts, his mother's dementia and the fact that he played football himself with all the links to CTE that entails- His "need" for control while he was here is understandable. A lot of things surely appear to have been out of his hands in his personal life.

I do hope he can find a measure of peace.

Well he certainly wasn’t living a healthy lifestyle and it seems like it spiraled out of control too ... sometimes it’s a sign that it’s not meant for you and the situation (and your own life) won’t improve
