My hotel is the last street uptown that was affected. Everything uptown is working.Must be 10 million people in uptown Manhattan! Sat and drank expensive drinks uptown. Climbed 15 flights of stairs up, power still out and room warming up. I didn't really want to come here and I see no reason to return. Just NOT my thing...IIIIIII hate New Yoooooork. (Remember that old tune)?

We looked out the window down to the streets. Probably more emergency vehicles flying around since 9/11. These people just WILL NOT move! They block fire trucks and cut off cop cars!

It was indeed bizarre looking into the blackness down Broadway and 7th Avenue towards central park. End of times feel to it. Oh well, adventure over.

I really didn't take many photos out and about.

I did just go to the 9/11 museum and memorial and now heading home. I highly recommend that place. Strange...it brought memories of that day back, kicked me in the guts and made me kinda angry...

I love NYC. I remember visiting for the first time in the late 80s and it was still pretty seedy. Times Sq. wasn't "Disneyfied" like it is today. In fact, it was the red light district. Harlem wasn't gentrified and the Lower East Side was gritty, grungy, rock and roll and Avenues A-D were heroin central and a bit rough and tumble due to large housing projects.

Over the years I have been back many, many times and I feel very at home there as I know it well. But, it's also changed a lot. I guess every city has though. But, I saw a big screen showing of the classic 70s NYC gang film, 'The Warriors' and I couldn't help but think that it was a time capsule as the city captured on film is definitely long gone.

I heard about it but haven't looked into it. One thing I found weird was they said they had it fixed but were looking into what caused it... generally with electrical problems you have to know what caused it in order to fix it... seemed odd.
