Burger That Made Officer Sick Sent To Crime Lab
McDonald's Worker Spent Night In Jail After Officer Complained

POSTED: 6:01 pm EDT September 9, 2007
UPDATED: 6:33 am EDT September 11, 2007

UNION CITY, Ga. -- Samples of a burger that a Union City police officer said made him sick have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for analysis.

Kendra Bull, 20, a McDonald’s employee, spent a night in jail Friday and faces criminal charges after Officer Wendell Adams complained the burger she prepared with too much salt made him sick.

Bull was charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct and arrested at 1:30 a.m. Friday. After a court hearing later that morning, she was released on $1,000 bond.

Bull said she accidentally spilled too much salt on the hamburger meat, but told her supervisor and another co-worker, who she said tried to thump the salt off. Bull took a break and said she ate a burger made from the salty meat.

Adams ordered a Big N' Tasty at the drive-through window and also got a burger made from the oversalted meat. A short time later, Adams returned to the restaurant and told the manager he got sick from eating it.

Bull admitted to spilling the salt on the burger, and the officer asked her to step outside, where she says Adams questioned her further.

Bull, who has worked at the restaurant for five months, said she did not know a police officer had ordered the burger because she could not see the drive-through window from her work area.

Bull said Adams insisted the burger must have had something worse than salt on it. Adams did not eat the entire burger.

Union City public information officer George Louth said Bull was charged with reckless conduct because she served the burger "without regards to the well-being of anyone who might consume it."

Did they he eat the whole burger? What did he send to the lab, a stool sample?

This is lame, it was wrong for the employee to use the burger anyway, but to arrest her?

or spent the money to have the crime lab analyze it?... I think not. What will be funny is when the crime lab report comes out and actually proves that there is real meat in there...

Not a chance. If you or I called a PD and asked to have a burger analyzed cuz it made us slightly ill, they'd laugh at us.

One bad apple spoils the bunch. Just because you can charge someone doesn't mean you should. This erodes respect. I've felt for a while that more and more officers are on a power trip, not serving the common good. Arrested for spilling salt? Does that really improve the common good?

No crap, Sherlock. He sent it to the crime lab, remember?

Now, if someone called the cops and said a burger made them sick, I highly doubt an officer would pull up to Mickey D's and arrest the employee. But when it happens to a cop, he arrests her. I'd make a complaint, but send the girl to jail overnight? Come on.

I'm just wondering, Bull told her supervisor who then still allowed the burger to be served,,, I would think the supervisor should be arrested not Bull...

Wow, another police officer abusing his power. This is truly a ridiculous story---this guy shouldn't have a badge.
