JC. I think this whole thing is just silly. OK they stole signals. No big secret. What if someone memorizes all the team's playbooks in the Madden video game? ( those are not those teams real playbooks? ) I want to sue EA for selling me an farse, an incomplete product. And everyone IS doing it. Hence ( college football having all the backup qb's sending in dummy plays) Why all the outrage? If all these players and coaches knew this was going on all they way back into his Browns days. Why was nothing said then? And why if it was semi-common knowledge was nothing done to be more protective of your playcalling when playing a Bill coached team? No body gave a crap when he was not winning. That is why. I wonder if "Tuna" had a hand in this? Why not investigate every superbowl winner since the video age? I demand to know why the Steelers had a superbowl handed to them on a silver platter! Seems most of it is the people who lost Superbowls or playoff games to the Pats ( sour grapes?) Pro sports is becoming more and more like "Professional wrestling... no Boxing every day. Ok enough topic jumping ,rambling from me. I think I made my point
Einstein could not even fathom the mathematical improbabilities of the Browns woes.

Salisbury is a complete idiot. By far, my least favorite guy on ESPN.
I saw him on the Budweiser Hot Seat, and thought to myself, "are you kidding me?!?!?!"

Yeah, this year they SHOULD dominate. Things might be a little different after this. You also have to remember that if Bill had been doing this for some time, then Mangini would know. They got busted by the Jets, so Mangini was probably looking for it.
Which, if true, brings up this question:
Why the hell would you video tape your opponent if their head coach knows you do it?

Might not be such a big deal.....if not for multiple teams over the last 5 or 6 years giving the same post game interview....where something like
"It was like they knew what we were going to do before we did it"
"They were one step ahead of us the hole game"
"They were calling out our schemes as we stepped to the line"
"They might as well have been in our huddle"
Everyone called them a smart team...and a smarter coach....because of all this....seems to me...that maybe there was a reason.

Dawg...I would guess the Mangini/Belichick relationship is not going to mend, any time soon....lol.
Belichick really got a bad case of "stupidity" thinking he could spy on a team that knows he's doing it.
Could be that many/most teams in the NFL play the spy game too, and those teams just accept the practice as the norm and don't make a big deal about it.
Stealing singles and spying may have been the "norm" when Paul Tagliabue was the NFL commissioner, BUT, there is a new sheriff in town and he seems to be determined to put his stamp on the NFL.
Roger Goodell made an example of the Patriots to send a message to the entire league, IMO.
Had Goodell given the Pats a slap on the wrist, he would have been seen as another Tagliabue.

I wonder if Romeo was in on it

He is pretty secretive.
Did you ever consider that's why he tries to keep a poker face on game day? I wondered about that as soon as I heard about this little scandal.

That is kinda true Hack,,, I mean for years every team they play has been amazed at how smart they are... Maybe they aren't really all that smart. Maybe they are just cheaters..
I liked Belichick the other day when he said that he's spoken to the league about his interpretation of the rules...LOL That cracked me up,
Sorry, but there is no way that Bob Kraft and Scott Paile (sp) didn't know this was going on... I think they surely did.

Uh, we should play better than we do if RAC knows what's coming.

Could be Romeo went with the program, making Romeo dirty as well.

LOL I was wondering when someone would draw that conclusion.. but truth be told, it could be fact... I don't think we will ever know however.. Nobody is gonna talk.
But if RAC was involved, you can bet Charlie Wiess was and so was Eric Mangini... If one is dirty, they probably all are. Wow, talk about tainting a legacy.,., Belichick was well on his way to being another Paul Brown in terms of how he would have been viewed historically speaking.

I'm just thinking if he worked in a corporate environment where such a thing was common then maybe he's adjusted himself to not giving too much away in the form of body language. As a DC he surely must have known about it if Bellichick has been doing it through the years. We still stink badly enough that opposing teams don't really need that edge, yet, but old work habits die hard.
Much of Crennell's demeanor is just that. He's not a screamer or a jumper. I would think he'd look ridiculous if he were. If this surveillance is a common as I suspect it is, then maybe his poker face is just that.
The rules of the game forbid this kind of video taping. I'm sure someone has figured out how to do it without the camera. Short of bugging the opposing team's head sets (Sweet!) I guess they would have to resort to spotters watching sideline personnel.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3022773If Pats don't comply with Goodell's order, more sanctions likely coming FL commissioner Roger Goodell has ordered the New England Patriots to turn over all videotape, files and notes relating to all their activity that resulted in the disciplinary action of coach Bill Belichick and the franchise, according to sources familiar with the details of Goodell's private communication with the team. If the Patriots are not compliant, the commissioner is prepared to impose even greater sanctions, the sources said. Goodell alluded to the league's position when he made his decision public to discipline the Patriots when he stated that the NFL would "review" and "monitor" the team's videotaping procedures, effective immediately. Privately, the commissioner was more specific in his demands and expectations with Patriots owner Robert Kraft when the two men spoke Thursday, sources said. The action is being taken because Belichick all but conceded to the commissioner that his interpretation of the rules allowed him to use videotape of opposing team hand signals for future games but not on game day, sources said. The commissioner rejected that interpretation and was aware that there had been other incidents involving the Patriots in recent years. If Goodell discovers that Belichick and the team has copied the files without disclosure to the NFL, the consequences will be significant, sources said. Chris Mortensen covers the NFL for ESPN.
