I tried. Not sure I have ever been able to delete posts. I tried to delete it literally seconds after I posted when I saw.

I just 'edited' my post.
In the future, if you want to 'delete' a post, click the edit beneath your post. (where it says: reply, quote) etc.
There IS a time limit on being able to do that, although I don't know what the time limit is. But I see your original post was at 4:41, and your request to delete post was at 4:41 also. You should've been able to see an 'edit' link.

and no I tried exactly what was said. I've tried to delete posts before and I always get the same message regardless of how quickly I try to delete. "This message cannot be deleted".

That's because you can no longer delete posts. At one time you could for I believe 45 minutes. Now you have to edit your post and remove all the words and leave a period if you want it removed.
