YER DAWG-GONE RIGHT IT’S GONNA BE COLD! Northcoast football in December and I’m not questioning whether our boys have the intestinal fortitude to gut it out. Give me blood and guts and veins hangin’ from my teeth! This is the perfect opportunity to continue establishing an identity as a young hard-nosed team who battles adversity and brings the ruckus no matter the odds. Carolina’s reeling and we aren’t the lovable losers who help teams get back on track anymore. The Dawgs dictate the tempo.

The slim to none playoff pretense is out of the way, but this team can still accomplish what it needs to do in order to show it’s making strides. Win at home and win in the division, win at home and win within the division… Win at home and win within the division. A positive record in both aspects is there for the taking.

I won’t be buying a ticket to the isle of optimism though. I’ve no desire for crowds, beaches, and drinks with umbrellas. I’ll open up an outpost instead. You’ll have to fly in on a float plane, but we’ve got running water and Sunday Ticket on satellite (one of the old school dishes that’s like 8 foot across). There’s a V-bottom boat with an old 15 horse Johnson at the ready and plenty of cold water streams to wade. There’s so many stars, we’ll make up our own constellations. When you come up you can only bring beans, potatoes, beer, and a bottle of rye. You don’t bring meat back, you’ll be stuck soaking up your glass of rye with nothin’ but beans and taters in your belly. I guar-on-tee we’ll eat like kings though. Sounds like heaven... heaven is where I’ll be as we move into an offseason with tangible results to build upon.

but i love how all the experts always say stuff like "When the wind is whipping around and there's snow everywhere, you gotta be able to run the ball!!!"

we MAYBE get one bad weather game per season. It's very overstated that we must have a certain type of team to fit our stadium/city

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I agree. Every team has to play, and execute, in the cold at some point in time. How many guys on our team right now will be playing in the cold for the first time? (Williams was saying something about that the other day.) They may not like it. It may not be fun. But they'll go out and do it. And frankly, my hat is off to them. I'll be watching from my reclining sofa, next to my wife, in my cozy home, with the hot or cold beverage of my choice.

The wind is the only weather factor that impacts games, with heavy rain possibly a factor. You see the supposed experts talk about the cold but their clueless IMO.

Millions of dollars a year salary can change ones perspective. Doesn't mean they like it but that's the job. Ive been watching guys build a building all day every day for much less.

Actually, SC is supposed to get worse weather than us today!

The word cold is a relative term. Adrenaline and physical activity help to neutralize the cold. They have heaters on the sideline and can wrap up.

Now I'm not saying that the cold won't have a great impact in extreme conditions. But anything above 20 degrees and without a brisk wind won't cause players to "feel" all that cold.

We had the Storm of Doom come to ATL yesterday for the AU Game. And the fans tailgated in cold rain all day. Upper 30s. It was miserable.

If the fans can do it then so can the football players.

I understand this may be extreme for Atlanta, but I've tailgated in the Muni Lot from 6:00 A.M. with wind chills at minus zero. Cold is a relative term based largely in where you live. I now live close to Nashville. Last year it was in the teens and we went out to dinner. The place was basically closed with a skeleton staff.

It's crazy how geography plays into our perception of hot and cold.

It wasn't that it was cold. We could handle cold. It was cold rain. Everybody was getting soaked.

It didn't bring down anyones attitude. It just made for a better story. wink

We're doing ok, thanks for asking! I went to bed about 11:00 last night, not a drop or snowflake.. got up for work around 4:30... 6 inches and the radar showed us in the middle of the system. Right now it's turning back to rain and everything is starting to melt.
