The problem is that Hue has no idea what he's doing. And he's been hired by owners who had no idea what they were doing-- the Haslams, Al Davis after he went completely insane.

So when he comes across someone who actually does know what they are doing, such as Todd Haley or John Dorsey, inevitably they are going to clash and/or get frustrated at what Hue is doing. Same thing happened in Oakland and that's probably why Mark Davis/Reggie McKenzie canned him despite a respectable 8-8 record.

Lets also not forget that the Raiders were 7-4 at one point in that season sitting on a playoff spot, and then they finished 1-5.

Let's also not forget the panicked trade that sent a first and second round pick for Carson Palmer.

It's similar to the almost panicked trade that would have sent a second and third round pick for AJ McCarron (Thank you Sashi. You weren't perfect but you had the team's best interest at heart.)

Make those trades, and we have to "trust you" on Cody Kessler, you "fall in love with" RG3, start a clearly not ready DeShone Kizer and yank him in and out of the starting lineup, but won't even consider starting Baker Mayfield or give him any first team reps... maybe you're not a quarterback whisperer after all.

I believe it was the Playmaker on Thursday night that said "Idk what these coaches are thinking - because you cannot say to me that TT should have been starting over BM"

fun fact...

Cleveland's line has won its pass blocks by 2.5 seconds 62 percent of the time, the second-best rate in the NFL.

so... the question...

Baker slowing down too much?

Or it could be WR not getting open and he has nowhere to throw the ball. . . .

So, does that make Hue 4-40-1 in his last 45 games as HC?

He cheats his drop and holds it too long. Let us roll him or bootleg him some. We keep doing the same dumb stuff. Watch a Packers game. We are slow and our WRs are a problem.

Our WR are as bad or worse than they've been the past 2 seasons.

People like Jarvis, but he is what he is. At least in 2016 we had Pryor to throw to... you could throw it in his vicinity and he went and got it. We don't have anyone on our roster that imposing. I'm not advocating signing Pryor, but he did some good things in 2016 that earned him a contract he didn't want. And I mean we could use Devalve in such a role, or at least try, but I guess he's not that good based on his usage... So here we are...

Hue now seems to be having a power struggle as well. I know this because he keeps having to remind everyone hes the HEAD COACH 8 times during a 9 min press conference.

This is now what they call a "track record" of Hue Jackson. Hue plays the victim, leaks to the media, throws people under the bus, and runs to Jimmy when he disagreed with Sashi. Maybe it wasn't Sashi that was willing to work with Jackson, maybe it was Jackson that wasn't willing to work with Sashi. . . .that we will never know, but the argument is there. I think as soon as push comes to shove, Jackson will then try to discredit Dorsey. Which will be hilarious.

That is easily my biggest concern with Hue.

Pryor wanted to play for the Browns and was close to Hue...but the Browns management did not feel any love for Pryor, even though he "performed" on the field.

Pryor would be a good fit to help the Browns current WR situation...depending on his injury situation.

Last post of the day: Hue throwing his players under the bus in OAK.

"I'm pissed at my team. At some point in time as a group of men you go in the game and you can say whatever you want about coaches, you win the game. Here's your time. Here's your time to make some plays," Jackson said in initially unloading on his players. "We didn't get them stopped and we didn't make enough plays. Yeah, I'm pissed at the team. Like I tell them, I always put it on me, but I am pissed at my team because when you have those kind of opportunities, you've got to do it and we didn't do it."

I didn't read this thread because Hue never said anything about calling the plays. This was an assumption of the media. He has since come out and made it clear. MKC and the rest of the media love to put words in peoples mouths.

Pat Shurmur, Vance Joseph and Jon Gruden. I kind of lump them all in the same category though as Hue, a hard pass.

Call me crazy, but that's not throwing anyone under the bus. That's sending them a clear and concise message that they need to step up and do their jobs.

I have no love (or hate) for Hue Jackson. Is he the right guy for the job right now and in the future? I don't know...

I'm leaning toward keeping him for at least the rest of the season to see how it plays out... the only bright spot if they do decide to make a change, is that my confidence in Dorsey to make the right decision grows every week.

I can understand Shurmur and Joseph, but Gruden?

He has a career 96-84 regular season record, 5-4 in the post-season including a Super Bowl win. He's had the Raiders (the first time) and Bucs in the playoffs multiple times. He coached Rich Gannon to an MVP award and won a Super Bowl with Brad Johnson.

That's a pretty good resume. Granted, he was out of the league for a long time and his second run with the Raiders has been a debacle so far. Even still, he's had one win in his first six games whereas Hue Jackson had one in his first thirty-four.

I guess we'll see how it goes... to be honest, I'm a little skeptical of Gruden myself but to put him in that category seems off.

If Hue Jackson even considers taking playcalling duties off Haley he should be fired on the spot.

Haley is the best OC we have had since Arians.

in 2016 Jackson's play calling had us ranked 28th in the NFL, 19th rushing, and 28th passing.

in 2017 Huey Jackson's play calling had us ranked 24th in the NFL, 22nd passing, and 18th Rushing.

in 2018 Haley has us ranked 17th in total offense, we are ranked 4th in the NFL in rushing yards, and 20th in passing yards.

its not even a contest, Haley is way way way better an OC then Hue ever cna be. Haley has a 4th ranked rushing attack with a rookie QB, rookie WR, and a rookie RB. Furthermore, Haley's passing numbers are slightly lower because Taylor didn't have 250+ passing yard games. If Mayfeild played sooner he seems to throw more, so Haley would be ranked somewhere around 15th in the NFL passing.

If Jackson even gets the hint to take over play calling Dorsey and Haslam need to can him right their on the spot. You took away Hyde and Gordon and yet Haley still has this team taking games to OT and we ar enot winning because we are screwing up with bad coaching from our HC.

If we had Hyde Sunday, he gets that 1 yard on 4th and 1 and we win. ont he flipside had Jackson just kicked the field goal we win, both of those outcomes are out of Haley's hands, he put us in position to win but doofus Jackson blew it.

You don't want Jackson calling plays...Haley has the 4th most rushing plays called in the NFL...he is leaning on the running game to protect his rookie QB from being hung out to dry, Haley is actually handling Mayfield perfectly thus far. He isn't ruining the kids confidence...you don't want Jackson calling plays...he will pass the ball 60 times per game and get Mayfield ruined just like he did Kizer.

Jackson needs to go, like yesterday...I hope the Steelers crush us by 50, I'll take that loss just so Dorsey and Haslam are forced to get this moron off our sidelines...we won't win poo as long as Jackson is our coach...the guy even trashes his coordinators in the press, the guy has no class at all, a complete tool

This is an example of why I preferred when this site did not allow "rumors" to be posted.

Too many posters read stuff like the original article and accept it as fact.

There have been some pretty darn good coaches who have ripped their own teams to pieces after losses, because they needed it.

It is 10/23/18 and Hue Jackson is still the coach of the Cleveland Browns. What on earth is going on in Berea.

It's the current version of Gruden that I would want no part of. I feel he's in unmitigated disaster in Oakland.

Overall, is he a better coach than Hue? I'd say so. I just would want no part of him.

Stay tuned, next week we'll hear a candid interview from one of his college roommates. Allegations surfacing that he touched a college playbook inappropriately at Cal State Fullerton thirty years ago.

the idea that it is the playcalling and not the talent on the field that leads to results is well.....nonsensical. bill walsh could have called the plays those two years and our offense would have still stunk because we had rookie quarterbacks who were not ready to play. Our overall talent was just not there. it is amazing how having a qb who can make plays makes a coach a lot smarter.

This is an open reply. The first paragraph is my reply directly to you the rest is just an open ended reply in general to what I am seeing. On this board any of this could have gone in many threads but while I am here I will address it now.

What part of that quote didn't you like? The fact that he was probably answering a direct question with a direct answer? The fact that coaches can coach all week from minicamp til the regular season but it is in fact those players that have to do the winning? Coaches can only do so much it is in fact up to the players to come together and make it happen and yes sometimes they should be held accountable when they are not performing up to their potential.

Those expecting miracles the last couple seasons are fooling themselves I would bet good money even hall of fame coaches wouldn't have taken the last 2 years of this team to no more than 4 wins and with this group of posters 4 wins is no better than 1 win. Then you totally change the team with 60% overhaul and throw in a rookie in most every fundemental cornerstone to a football team and you see growing pains? What do you want? What did you expect? I see people even getting down on Harrison's play against JPP.....are you people serious JPP is and was a top tier DE and we are still talking about what a divison 2/3 kid who went undrafted and people wanna get down on him?...Please.

For how long have posters been griping about how the team sucks every year and yet you are willing to start all over again? Because we know new coach generally means new staff which means again new systems which means again new players which means again new growing pains etc etc etc. I will be patient with a whole new team all getting on the same page with so many rookies cus these games have not been that bad.

I argue Sashi was not here to field a winning team he was here to assemble draft picks and cap space for the eventual rebuild but each season with inferior talent and no chance qb's this team never quit on this coach and he has taken the insults and all the rest of the negativity like a champ for the most part. This season is still the same on the record but if you can not see that this team just doesn't give up with all the new faces and so many rookies playing in important roles then that is on you to figure out. I am actually enjoying my Sundays again because now I feel like we are close, we are giving a damn. Sure it isn't perfect it never was going to be but this team is night and day to last seasons. When we get to the 4th quarter I know this team will at the very least get us an extra chance to win (we havent done so but they fight back to get us there) we just need to sustain that spark they ride to get to OT. It is like they get an adreneline shot and use it all up to get to even then kinda get burned out. They need to learn how to extend that emotion. Haley so far has really tried to outsmart himself in the first halfs of games. Almost like he picks the plays he wants but not the plays the team is currently playing to. BUT he sure does an excellent job at halftime it seems in adjusting too bad we have to wait a half for those adjustments.

We are seeing the fruits of a defense in the 2nd year of its coach and they have delivered and improved. Do they give up a ton of yards? Sure they do but in all honesty if you are watching the games with all the turnovers they are getting the yards would be more than meaningless IF the offense was actually putting up points from those turnovers when they get the chance.

The offense is in its first season with a rookie LT, rookie QB, rookies all over the WR corps and now a rookie RB. Yet they play hard and have been fun to watch when it is all clicking and we are just in what game 4 with this current lineup minus the starting RB? Comeon now!!! This team is fighting this team is still young but this team is also fighting for not just their coaches but each other they are building on each other and as the season goes on it will be a huge step taken for them heading into next season together.

Do I want more wins? Yes! Am I ready to try over? No! I want this team to head into a 3rd year with same defense with an offense that has grown together heading into year 2 and for the coach these players are fighting for each and every minute of every game. I don't know what many of you are looking for but I feel like I am being logical and patient besides we have tried 20 years of the same old crap and getting the same records what is there to lose exactly at least I am watching exciting football again. Holding players accountable privately and whining to the press are two different things. Hue Jackson continually passes blame onto others via the media. It's his MO.

No miracles. Just sound coaching decisions and accountability.

John Dorsey would still be in charge of the roster. That is what matters. His players wouldn't be getting cut. As others have pointed out, a coaching change isn't that big of a deal if the new coach is the right hire (see: Sean McVay follwing Jeff Fisher, Doug Pederson following Chip Kelly, Doug Marrone following Gus Bradley, Dan Quinn following Mike Smith, Andy Reid following Romeo Crennel, Mike Zimmer following Leslie Frazier, Pete Carroll following Jim Mora, etc.).

Competent leadership and sound decision making.

These are all just our own opinions. None of this actually matters. We all feel we are being logical.

Exciting football and good football are not the same thing. Rams fans are excited that their team is blowing everyone out by twenty points every week.

In the end I come back to my same point from the off-season -- how often do forced marriages between GMs and coaches workout? Almost never. If Hue Jackson somehow manages to survive this season, what happens if we win only four games the next season? He's fired. I'd rather rip the band aid off now and get the fresh start as soon as possible. The fact that I perceive the head coach as incompetent only furthers that belief.

I don't know. If you have a player like Duke and an OC like Haley who refuses to use him even though he catches everything thrown his way just about then I would think about taking over playcalling too.

I mean what is so hard about getting Duke the Ball when he does nothing but produce with it. Because random guys we pulled off the street can catch better? It's just insane.

You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.

You forgot to tell us what makes Hue so special, and that's the big question here. What are you expecting of him, what you see in him that is so special.

For most of us, he has clearly showed that he is one of the worst coaches in NFL history, and for sure the worst we had here.

I don't think we need any explanation, his record speaks for itself, but for the most and for me its the lack of any identity on Hue's teams.

I have a long list of stuff I dislike about him, the first is because he is spineless and is always looking for someone to take the fall for him, but I can go on.

What is a HUE's team, what makes you like them so much?
