Shoot me if this has been a known fact for a while but im totaly oblivious then. This really isnt huge news but surprising and interesting if you are a buckeye fan and love your former buckeyes. Quote:
David Boston is making the most of his latest bid to revive a once-promising NFL career. The 29-year-old was one of the league's best young receivers, but two knee operations and suspensions derailed the emerging star during subsequent stops in San Diego and Miami. Now, he's in training camp with the Buccaneers for the second straight summer and has a good chance to not only make the team, but wind up as the starting flanker. "He might be our best receiver at times out here," coach Jon Gruden said. "The son of a gun is 235 pounds, and when he catches that ball going north and south, he's going to be a force to be reckoned with. He's doing a heck of a job." (Updated 08/23/2007).
Quote:
Boston has reached the top of the Bucs' depth chart and is in the driver's seat to start over Michael Clayton, Ike Hilliard and Maurice Stovall. He's now officially worth a late-round pick in all Fantasy leagues. Definitely keep an eye on him throughout the preseason.

That guy always was in crazy good shape. I remember reading some report saying he was cramping up because his body fat % was too low.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him win comeback player of the year.

Hopefully the couple of years off, has brought some humility to Boston.
He was a disaster in san diego from a personell perspective. The dumped him in a year.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

Hopefully he has his head on straight and realizes bodybuilding and steroids do not make a good WR.
He could have been one of the great ones...

Bucs Receiver Passes Breath Test, Is Charged With DUI By Stephen Thompson of The Tampa Tribune http://www2.tbo.com/content/2007/aug/24/bucs-player-passes-breath-test-charged-dui/?news-breakingPublished: August 24, 2007 PINELLAS PARK - Tampa Bay Buccaneer David Boston was arrested Thursday night on charges of driving under the influence. David Boston Boston, 29, a wide receiver who lives in Cooper City, was found passed out at the wheel of a dark red Range Rover at 49th Street and Park Boulevard, Pinellas Park police Capt. Sanfield Forseth said. The vehicle was in a travel lane, and the engine was running. "We're assuming he stopped at the red light and passed out," Forseth said. "He didn't know where he was." The jail affidavit said that Boston had poor balance. It also said he has a tattoo of "Chucky" on the right side of his chest. "He seemed disoriented and confused," said officer J. McNeil in the arrest affidavit. "He had mood swings and seemed evasive." At 8:30 p.m., Boston was taken to the Pinellas County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of driving under the influence. He was released on his own recognizance. A drunkenness-recognition expert was called to the scene and conducted a field sobriety test, then escorted Boston to jail. A so-called DRE exam goes beyond the field sobriety test and includes a check of a driver's muscle tone and pupils, Forseth said. Breath tests indicated there was no alcohol in Boston's system, and the results of a urine test are pending, Forseth said. Boston told a Pinellas Park police officer he had left Orlando's Celebration area and was heading to Tampa International Airport, Forseth said. ------------------------ So much for that.. Unless he is truly sick.

Which could mean one of three things... either the test was wrong and the urine test will prove that... or there was something WORSE in his system... or he's legitimately sick... I hate to hope for the 3rd one because I don't want the guy to be sick... but as long as it's not real serious, that's his best option.

I can tell you from personal experience that something like this can happen. I have had many problems in the past due to severe sleep apnea where I have fallen asleep at the wheel, not only while sitting at a light but while driving. I wrecked my car once, woke up to call my wife and fell back asleep. I wasn't allowed to drive for nearly a year until I got it under control. I also know what happens to me when I have to take pain pills and muscle relaxers. It is very possible that he could have had a bad reaction to something like that.
Or he was just doped up.

i think i may have jinxed the guy with this post wow....hopfully he wasnt doped. But im sure the last thing any team wants is their WR to be sleeping or passed out on the bench when hes watching the Defense lol.

Bucs receiver David Boston arrested for DUI August 24, 2007
PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (AP) -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver David Boston was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after police found him passed out behind the wheel of a sport utility vehicle.
The 29-year-old was found slumped over the steering wheel of a red Range Rover on Thursday evening, police said.
ADVERTISEMENT The SUV was running and in drive. An officer woke up Boston, who said he was headed to Tampa International Airport.
Boston was arrested after a field sobriety test. Initial breath tests did not indicate alcohol but other test results are still pending, police said.
Boston was transported to the Pinellas County jail and later released.
Knee injuries have sidelined Boston for most of the past three seasons. He signed with Tampa Bay in May after spending the previous two years with the Miami Dolphins, but was released before the start of the 2006 season.
Boston was the eighth pick in the 1999 draft and has 315 receptions for 4,699 yards and 25 touchdowns in 75 career games with Arizona, San Diego and Miami. He was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2001, when he was with the Cardinals.
A telephone message left by with Boston's agent, Mitchell Frankel, was not immediately returned Friday afternoon.
Just saw this on Yahoo Sports. Quick live come back.

I have three friends that have fallen asleep at the wheel at red lights, and none of them were drunk. They were just tired.

http://tbo.com/video/xml/MGBMLUB3R5F.htmlSorry but I just don't see it. He was obviously pissed off but at one point the deputy even stated that he did not smell like anything as well as the fact that he did complete all of the tasks and even caught the officers small mistake that could have been damaging to him (graduated from college question at the end). The Bucs made a statement saying they are supporting him and don't believe he did anything wrong and at least from that video, I'd have to agree. The cops still followed through with the arrest even though he did everything. He shouldn't have complained as much and just done everything since he did do well in the tests.

After watching the video I'd have to say that while Mr. Boston may not be the brightest bulb in the chandelier he wasn't drunk either. Possibly a case of DWB? Guess we'll see. At least he didn't go "Mel Gibson" on the cop.........

If I were willing to have a breathaliser and urine test administered,I would have refused the field sobriety test in the very beginning.
It's used as more of a "double jepordy" thing than anything else. Twice the evidence to try to establish guilt in court. One on camera and one through the scientific evidence.
Just refuse the field test in the first place.
As was fairly obvious,he passed the field test anyway. Did he follow the instructions 100%? No,but he did everything they asked of him satisfactorily.
If you're going to pass the field test and STILL be given a breathaliser and urine test anyway? Which I know has also happenned to others, why bother with it in the first place?

after watching the video he might have been a smart ass a couple of times but I don't think he was on anything. I believe there might be another reason for him falling asleep.

So much for that.. Unless he is truly sick.
OMG, it sounds like a diabetic seizure like my one employers son used to have. Totally out of it, looks and sounds drunk but no alcohol on breath or in system. When something like that happens it is so easily confused with being drunk. Unless a police department is made aware as part of their training that a diabetic incident can appear as a drunken episode then they have got to make sure they run plenty of tests to PROVE that the person is in fact drunk. I've seen/heard of DUI cases that got thrown out of court because the person had a diabetic episode. One thing most folks don't realize is that most diabetics CANNOT even touch alcohol because it will mess with their diabetes so bad it can land them in the hospital or worse can kill them.
Until we get the rest of the story please don't jump to conclusions that just because he appeared drunk but didn't smell like he was drinking that he was.

Certainly not "trashed out" enough to be "passed out".
He certainly seemed to have his wits about him to "a great degree". I'm not saying he "wasn't high" on something. I didn't really "see anything from the video" that indicated he was.
Now if I were "up close to him" I may have a different opionion. But I didn't see any "obvious signs" he wasn't coordinated enough to drive a vehicle from the footage.
My main point is "If you're willing to take a blood test, breath test and or urine test" why even bother taking a field sobriety test in the first place?
And I have "heard cops" on two seperate occasions tell drivers that I rode as a passenger with the same basic thing. "Well, you did well enough on the field test, but I smell alcohol,so I'm taking you in for a breathaliser anyway".
WTF? If you're going to give them a breathaliser anyway, what's the damned point of the field sobriety test anyway? Like I said,it's just a double whammy. A pointless excercise in futility to bother taking one in the first place IMO
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
