First post. Not a troll.

First things first, I know I'm starting from way, way behind by outing myself as a converted Steeler fan. But I figure it's best to just own it from the start.

Here's the thing. I'm a Sooner fan first. And as my username would suggest, I just can't help myself but follow this guy and become a Browns fan. He's just that cool of a player, that great of a leader, and also he's personally impacted me and my son.

So, that's pretty much the story.

I'm kissing forty years of pulling for the Steelers goodbye and will be rooting for the Browns every game this year. It'll be a little weird at first.

You guys are probably starting to get a feel for just how special this kid is. But let me just tell you, five years from now, you won't believe how much you love him. It'll blow your mind. He's that awesome.

Even when he gets a penalty or kind of embarrasses you (e.g. planting the flag, or grabbing the crotch), you'll find yourself secretly pumping your fist. He just resonates with a true fan like that. Or else I wouldn't be here doing something I wouldn't have imagined possible until now.

And, yes, he probably will do a thing or two over the years that will make you wince. But it's just part of what makes Baker be so awesome. He isn't perfect. But he's all in like no one has ever been all in on anything.

To the doubters, you just have absolutely nothing to worry about in terms of the Manziel comparison. The only sense in which Mayfield is like Manziel is his electric ability to extend plays and put on a show. Everything else is not antics or the "me-me-me" show. It's just pure zeal for the game, for the competition, and more than anything else, unbridled love for his team and his teammates. That's what will get you in the end.

I know you guys have had a rough go of it. Some of you are probably slow to trust and hope for real change. But I'm just a bazillian percent confident that when you drafted Baker Mayfield, it was a part of, if not the start of, good times ahead for the Browns.

So, I'm here to declare myself early before everyone else jumps aboard. I want to say I made the switch right now, coming off goose-egg from 2017.

Sorry for the long post. It's my bane but I'll try to keep it to a minimum.

For now, somebody tell me where to buy some good Browns gear for me and my boy (10 years old). I need outlet pricing. I'm not rich.

Go Browns!

Why would you abandon a team you've rooted for for 40 years, and indoctrinated your 10 year old son into, just for one player that was drafted by another team?

I hate the Steelers, but I don't like disloyal fans either.

Welcome.

It's convenient that your leaving an aging team with a QB on his way out but whatever.

Hey Baker,

Welcome aboard.

If you're into immense detailed analysis of games, plays, players, etc... You're gonna have fun here.

If you're right about Baker, and the Browns start winning this Board will swell to hundreds of fans.

By the way, I can help you with some awesome Browns gear!

Welcome, and ignore them.

It'll be nice having another Sooner fan around these parts.

1. Baker is that compelling. You won't understand it unless you understand it. But it does happen. There were Packers fans that cheered for Brett Favre even when he walked into their stadium in a Vikings uniform. (Yes, most of them booed, and I don't blame them.)

2. I haven't found Pro Football, as a team fan, very compelling in a long time. I suppose I might be a victim of Fantasy Football. Or maybe it's just that I like college football so much more. I knew something was wrong when I fell asleep during the Steelers' last Super Bowl win.

3. Following Baker and pulling for the Browns will be fun for me. Following the Steelers has not been much fun. I can see why a diehard fan would find that appalling. But it is what it is.

4. I grew up and live in Texas. I latched on to the Steelers when I lived in Dallas, where I mostly grew up. I was just starting to get into football when the Steelers beat the Cowboys in Super Bowl 13. So, I was the essence of a fair-weather fan. By the time they beat the Rams the next year, I was hooked for good. Or at least until now . . . but let's be honest . . .

5. It's not like I'm a Steelers' hater. I know there are some fans who can't tolerate any ambiguity like that. "You can't love the Sooners and not HATE the Longhorns" is the mantra of many of my fellow Oklahoma fans. I just have never bought fully into that logic.

So, there's your answer.

Peace.

LOL. RE my PIN, I'm poor but not stupid!

Looking forward to the analysis. How many people are on the board, for the most part? I couldn't tell when I picked it out. Just looked like a cool name for a board.

It's going to be hard for such a loyal fan base, who has stuck with their team during such terrible times, to accept someone turning their back on their team this way. Even if it is the Steelers.

To idolize a player who has proven exactly zero in the NFL so much you would become a traitor to the team you've followed for what you claim to be 40 years seems almost cult like.

And according to your own sig., you're only a Browns fan for as long as Baker is here. That's not a Browns fan at all. That's a BM fan.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

That's not the motivation for my defection. But I do agree that the Steelers are set to fall off the map for a good while. It was a mistake to not draft more talent behind Ben than Landry Jones and Mason Randolph.

If Ben gets hurt, the Steelers are toast this year. If he stays healthy, this might be their last year in a long time to make the playoffs.

Unless Lamar Jackson is the second coming of Michael Vick, I think the future of the AFC North will be the Browns. I actually think the Bengals are a more interesting pick than either the Ravens or the Steelers.

I don't expect you to understand it. But in about 5 years after the Browns win their first of many Super Bowls, it will all become clear.

I'll accept your apology at that time. And, trust me, you won't mind giving it.

As for the signature, what you don't realize is how loyal Baker Mayfield is. He will be a Brown for life, contracts be damned. He's more likely to cut off his left testicle than abandon the team that believed in him enough to spend the first over-all pick on him.

Welcome aboard BakerBrown!

I'm cool with anyone coming over from the Dark Side lol. I've noticed the fans that are passionate about Baker would all but take a bullet for him. Seems like he's the same with his teammates. I've come to admire his drive, his love for the game and his "call it like I see it" demeanor. He has the talent to succeed at the next level... I hope you're right and we get to see it in a Browns uni.

To be a Browns fan, through and through, means that you've been through some serious hardship as a fan. Most of us are also huge fans of "The Land"... the city of Cleveland itself. Hard to "get it" from afar. It may be a little hard for true-blue fans to accept and outsider who hasn't suffered the way we have.

If you want to save a ton of money on gear, just eBay former Browns QB jerseys. If you buy a Delhomme, Frye and Manziel you'll be able to cut and stitch your own MAYFIELD jersey!

If you're a 40 year Steelers & Sooner fan, then you should remember another Oklahoma guy that played for the Browns - Greg Pruitt was the real deal, with over 13,000 all-purpose yards in the NFL. If you're looking for a jersey, #34 Pruitt would be a good one.

Welcome to the board.

I can’t imagine loving a player so much that I’d switch allegiances. Especially to the enemy. I’m a Buckeye and Browns fan. Over the years I’ve been disgusted when my Buckeye players have been drafted by any of the other teams of the AFCN. Basically once you take off the Scarlet and Gray and put on the Black and Yellow you’re dead to me. I’ve rooted against many a former Buckeye...it sucks but it is what it is.
So I can’t understand at all where you’re coming from.
That said, welcome.

Was talkin' with a buddy who is a steelers fan when we drafted Edwards, he was in his office with his boss who is a Browns fan.

I said how can I root for the guy if he went to Michigan, he asks his boss about that.

His boss says, 'Once you become a Brownie, all sins are forgiven!'

Too bad he committed many once he became a Brown...

WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM
