China Contributing $500 Million to Trump-Linked Project in Indonesia The Chinese government is extending a $500 million loan to a state-owned construction company to build an Indonesian theme park that will feature a Trump-branded golf course and hotels. A subsidiary of Chinese state-owned construction firm Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC) signed a deal last week with the Indonesian firm MNC Land to build an “integrated lifestyle resort,” as part of Beijing’s global influence-expanding “Belt and Road” infrastructure initiative. The project will include a number of Trump-branded hotels, a golf course, and a residence. While the $500 million loan will not be directly allocated to any of the Trump-branded features, Beijing’s contribution of half the project’s total operating budget ensures the success of the broader theme-park venture. The Trump properties are considered flagship elements of the theme park, according to MNC marketing materials, and internal documents obtained by Agency France-Presse show Trump’s sons have been directly involved in its planning. Though negotiations began prior to Trump’s election and his pledge to cease engaging in new business dealings with foreign governments, the project raises questions about the extent to which the Trump Organization is dependent on Beijing amid contentious trade negotiations with the U.S. “Even if this deal is completely and entirely above board, it simply furthers the perception of impropriety” surrounding Trump’s business dealings, Christopher Balding, an economics professor at Shenzhen’s HSBC Business School, told AFP. “Especially with the potential trade war, this is not a good look ... Critics will be entirely right to demand answers.” Trump refused to divest his Trump Organization holdings upon taking office, much to the consternation of government-ethics experts, opting instead to place his holdings in a blind trust and hand over control of the business to his sons. Vice Premier Liu He, China’s top economic official, is traveling to Washington this week to continue negotiations over the large trade deficit between the U.S. and China. Though negotiations have proved fruitless thus far, the administration has remained confident that Beijing will make significant concessions to avert the harsh tariffs the Trump administration has threatened to implement. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/chi...ocid=spartanntp

I'll leave it to others to determine what is legal and what is not because, quite frankly, I have no idea.. I will say that this is a bad look based on the timing of other deals going on with China.. and the notion that this deal was with Trump company but not with Trump.. the degree of separation between Trump and his business dealings is thinner than a sheepskin condom..
All that said, the Chinese government is underwriting Chinese construction companies all over the world, allowing them to win projects even at a loss just to get a foothold in different markets.. so that isn't anything new.

The Heist continues... I wonder what China bought here? China gave Trump a list of crazy demands, and he caved to one of themBy Josh Rogin May 15 After top Trump officials went to Beijing last month, the Chinese government wrote up a document with a list of economic and trade demands that ranged from the reasonable to the ridiculous. On Sunday, President Trump caved to one of those demands before the next round of negotiations even starts, undermining his own objectives for no visible gain. The Chinese proposal is entitled, “Framework Arrangement on Promoting Balanced Development on Bilateral Trade,” and I obtained an English version of the document, which is the Chinese government’s negotiating position heading into the next round of talks. That round begins this week when Xi Jinping’s special economic envoy Liu He returns to town. Bullet point 5 is entitled, “Appropriately handling the ZTE case to secure global supply chain.” “Having noted China’s great concern about the case of ZTE, the U.S. will listen attentively to ZTE’s plea, consider the progress and efforts ZTE has made in compliance management and announce adjustment to the export ban,” the document states. Trump took a big step in that direction Sunday when he tweeted that he had instructed the Commerce Department to help get ZTE “back into business, fast,” only weeks after the Commerce Department cut off its supply of American components because it violated U.S. sanctions on sales to North Korea and Iran. Trump’s tweet set off a panic both inside and outside the administration among those who worry that Trump is backing down from his key campaign promise to stand up to China’s unfair trade practices and economic aggression. As Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) pointed out Monday, the problems with ZTE go well beyond sanctions-busting. The Federal Communications Commission has proposed cutting ZTE and other Chinese “national champion” companies off from U.S. infrastructure development funds because the U.S. intelligence community views their technology as a national security risk. White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters issued a rare tweet clarification, explaining that Trump wanted Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross to “exercise his independent judgment” to resolve the ZTE case “based on its facts.” Ross told the National Press Club on Monday that the ZTE restrictions are “separate from trade.” Still, Ross added, he is looking at “alternative remedies” for ZTE and expects to find some “very, very promptly.” What the heck happened here? Some officials believe that the camp of Trump officials trying to avoid a trade war with China — led by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow — are winning the never-ending battle for the president’s limited attention. Mnuchin is reportedly trying to control the China negotiations and elbow out U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy Director Peter Navarro. My Washington Post colleagues reported that Trump may have gotten ahead of a brewing “mini-deal” whereby the United States provides relief for ZTE and, in return, China eases its restrictions on U.S. agricultural imports. If that’s the case, the Trump administration “just got blackmailed,” according to Derek Scissors, resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. “Our actions against ZTE might have been excessive, but what you can’t do is say, ‘Just kidding’ when the Chinese start complaining about it,” he said. “The idea that we did it and then reversed ourselves is awful.” As I’ve written before, a short-term deal would a penny-wise, pound-foolish approach, because confronting China’s large-scale unfair and illegal practices should be an urgent strategic priority. The United States gets one shot to show China that we are serious about forcing it to change its behavior — and, if it won’t, that we are serious about defending ourselves. Trump is signaling he’s willing to give up the one piece of leverage that is actually getting the Chinese government’s attention before receiving anything concrete in return. That’s not only bad negotiating. It also sends the message that the United States doesn’t have the stomach for the larger economic battles with China to come. Nobody knows whether Trump will approve whatever “deal” Mnuchin and company put on his desk after the next round of talks. Trump may change his mind again. But here are some of the other demands in China’s proposal, to watch out for on Trump’s Twitter feed: The United States commits to eliminating the sanctions imposed after China’s crackdown on protesters in Tiananmen Square in 1989 The United States relaxes export restrictions on technology such as integrated circuits The United States allows U.S. government agencies to purchase and use Chinese information technology products and services The United States agrees to treat Chinese investment and investors equally to those from other countries and place no restrictions on Chinese investment The United States agrees to ensure Chinese businesses can participate in U.S. infrastructure projects The United States agrees to strengthen protection of Chinese intellectual property. (Seriously!) The United States agrees to drop its anti-dumping cases against China at the World Trade Organization The United States agrees to terminate its investigations into Chinese intellectual property theft and not impose any of the sanctions Trump already announced “They expect to be treated the same way our treaty allies are treated, which is ridiculous,” Scissors said. Many of the demands in the document are crazy, he said, “But we actually accepted one of China’s crazy demands.” If Trump concedes to Beijing’s other demands, he would be declaring the United States’ surrender in the economic struggle against China before the fight really begins. Trump administration officials are now saying that won’t happen. But Trump’s unforced error on ZTE undermines the entire effort. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/josh...m=.4367f3809f7f The Great Negotiator from the Art of the Steal! It a HEIST! He's selling the US voter and companies who supported him down the river for personal enrichment. smdh Let's hear all the arguments about how he is such a great deal maker now! He drops his pants at the first sign of negotiating. He doesn't know how to make a deal, he knows how to steal...

just remember most negotiations start off in the realm of ridiculous and then they work their way backwards with both sides cutting things out to make it look like they are compromising when they never meant to get them to begin with.

It doesn't have to shut down.
However, by law he is required to divest himself of all holdings and money-makers (Emoluments clause)
To date, that hasn't happened. He's in violation every single day.
Buying influence is exactly why we have the clause in the first place.

Most negotiations don't start in the realm of the ridiculous, they start with people who know what they need to make a deal happen and some other stuff that they would like to have but are willing to negotiate. Every businessman I know, if you started in the realm of the ridiculous, would just get up and walk out. They aren't there to play games.

Now you know the secret. I think the whole point here, that passed you by, is that he should not become a billionaire after he becomes president... And I think the secret is, is that he's not even close to being a billionaire... Keeping you head in the sand doesn't mean nothing is happening...

Now, to prove that, we'd have to diverge into 'what is a billionaire', and I don't feel like going there, as you probably don't either. He's claimed up to 10 billion. Others have put him at around 3-5 billion. What we don't know is; is that net worth? I read somewhere that his income was around 600 million last year. That is a huge income. I think even you would admit that. But again, we don't know the details. 600 million in income isn't jack, if he had 600 million in expenses, right? 1 thing we do know, though. He has businesses that earn income. Unlike Hillary (yup, I went there) that, according to her, left the white house flat broke. And yet, how many homes do the clintons own? What happened to the Clinton Foundation, and all the money they got, from foreign countries and foreigners? And why did the money dry up when she didn't get elected?

The thing is, I have seen and read about so many failed businesses... unpaid contractors, lawsuits, debauchery and outright lies that it is hard for me to believe his successes are what he claims they are.. I live in a city that one of seven residents are millionaires... and you would never know it... At least Hillary gave up how many years of tax returns? It doesn't say that much to you, maybe... but it says something to me...

went to dinner last night with a friend of mine .... we were talking about this stuff .... i told him if any of the networks had an ounce of integrity they’d run a story on each and every member of the house and the senate over the last 30 years and show there net worth from the day they entered office to the day they got out ... and contrast that to what the national debt was when they entered congress to what it was when they got out ... And this could be either party this is just the latest example I know of ... in late 14 or early 15 Joe Biden took a diplomatic trip to China ... he took his son with him ... his son came back from China with 3 or 4 multi million dollar contracts with China ... Look at the socialistic hero Bernie Sanders ... his houses alone are worth millions ... same with Maxine Waters she came from like Watts or Compton and now she has a house in Hollywood worth 4 million ... And the republicans are no better ... they’ve made millions and millions off China and all the cheap labor they allow to flow into the country ... BOTH SIDES have been and are still getting rich at our expense ... I’d seriously love to see that contrast side by side .... Net worth the day they got in with the national debt on that date next to it ... then below that there net worth the day they got out and the national debt on that date next to it ... U wanna talk about FLAWED MATH ....

In Maxine Waters’ defense because of cost of housing, a 4 million dollar house in LA could just be a 1200 square foot, 2 bed 1 bath, ranch style home.
But yes, for the first time in recorded history I agree with everything you just said in your last post.

But yes, for the first time in recorded history I agree with everything you just said in your last post. That is true, the property cost of living is insane. However, I would say Diam was a little lowballing her home value.
