One public drunkenness doesn't bother me in the least. I had 2 friends arrested for public drunkenness when I was in college. One went on to be a Marine Corps helo pilot, the other is high up in the department of psychiatry as a doctor at Johns Hopkins...

College kids get drunk, they do stupid stuff.. if it was 4 or 5 times, yea, I'd be worried.

I hope he eludes pass rushers when sober better than he did the police when drunk, he made it like 5 steps and got tackled into a concrete wall... It was one of those "Ouch, that's going to hurt when he sobers up" looking tackles.

Thing is we don't know that it was a one time thing. He only got CAUGHT once. Chances are he got away with a LOT more than that. Then again maybe he didn't and just got very, very unlucky.

Either way he has a year of riding the bench to get his chit strait. I hope he makes the most of it.

You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.

I know I did. He probably learned from that experience that running is stupid.. From what I've seen he was just standing on the sidewalk when the cops got out of the car and approached.. it wasn't like he was being lewd or disruptive, he had just been drinking... big deal. He wasn't driving, good for him...

If Ben Roethlisberger equals "Big" Ben due to his height and stature then Baker Mayfield equals "Tiny" Baker. What do you think of when you think of a tiny baker? I think of the Keebler Elf. Hence Keebler Mayfield. smile Keebler for short... pun very much intended

Actually he was being disruptive. Yelling and cursing.

Now I don't hold it against a kid for a single incident in college. I'm far more concerned about the pattern of incidents during games and post and pre game than anything else.

Some kids outgrow such immature things and it isn't a problem as they grow older. Then some kids stay kids a lot longer than others.

We'll just have to see how that goes.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Just looking at some vids on Mayfield and came across this. Found it interesting.

Drinking only concerns me because we have been through that before. We do not need another QB that blows off practice to go party in Vegas. I'm also concerned about his social media presence. He should buy a flip phone and dump all of his social media accounts. This isn't about HIM it's about TEAM.

If he screws up one tiny little bit it's over... He has no wiggle room because of our previous screw up Johnny Dumbass. Now that isn't fair, but it IS #truth

If we had taken Darnold EO would be saying he loved THAT pick and we did the right thing... Same for Rosen.

Yeah. Must be because Dorsey isn't an idiot. Maybe Darnold will be the best in 5 years. Maybe it will be Rosen or Allen or Jackson .... Maybe it will be Mayfield. One thing is for sure - stating as fact today (or yesterday) that one is destined to be the best for certain is asinine. Throwing your toys outta your pram because Dorsey didn't pick your guy equally asinine.

I am with you my friend. There was little question in my mind, then none that Baker was our guy.

The only real knock was his height. If he was 2 inches taller, there wouldn't even be a debate.

Many years ago I said the NFL would have to change as the talent presented to them would change based on everybody play spread option. I also said it might take 10-20 years, but it would happen. It would have to if a team wanted a QB.

It's starting to happen. Short by old NFL standards isn't as important anymore.

If we design a scheme that gives him throwing lanes, he'll get in them. If we want to play a Hue chuck it deep type of O, he isn't going to do well.

Enter Todd Haley.

I think Dorsey scouted Mayfield at length when he was out of the league. I think he knew Mayfield was his guy the day the Browns hired him and he knew he had the 1st pick.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

I agree with this 100% - with the caveat that they have done their due diligence and run through the entire process with the possibility that it could change if something showed up as a red flag - or if Manning 2.0 turned up from somewhere.

Again you Manziel wannabee's are just going too far with garbage. BM has no football problems, no problems working harder than anyone on the team. There are no similarities. For Spirit...the kid is just shy of 6'1. his hands are big and he ways around 220 he is not small.

But his attitude is nothing but praised by the football people. His antics at college games was a bit sophmoric at times...oh wait he was a sophmore...lol! come on its college rivalry stuff and as I said he received way more than he dished out. So you all should go root for basketball...lol laugh

I'm not going to go sell Mayfield. He's going to sell himself. You will start to hear stories from his veteran team mates soon enough and that will be the turning point for most of you.

Of course some of you we will never hear the end of it. And then when the tide turns it will be GREAT I'm a man and admit my mistakes...woopity doo. This is the best investment this organization has made. Right time, right place, we had the right people in charge. Actually to be honest I didn't think Hue was sold on him and I don't think he's as euphoric as some have stated. Don't know if that's good or bad.

Or that might be my, can it actually be good for us? Just the Browns fan in me like many. Hard to believe we have a great QB finally.

He's not just a systems QB he understands the game. He understands flow. He actually understands Defenses. He also has a chip on his shoulder that has him striving to be the best...the kid is so far from Manziel it ain't funny.

No where close to history repeating itself unless some how you are referring to Brian Sipe joining our team.

I remember you bringing that up a few times (we still have Vitale though wink .

I got to tell you, I'm warming up to mayfield. I wanted Rosen or Darnold, but after watching a lot of stuff today on Baker, I'm a lot more on board with him.

He's a gamer, and I'm not worried about his maturity issues as some are. Those I expect are in the past. He seems to want to be great.

You really need to stop getting upset when someone doesn't agree with you. It is unbecoming.

His introduction presser was actually the first time I heard the kid speak. He conducted himself well. Someone else said the right things too to the media, but hey... it's really about time we go upward instead of backwards.

Come on Baker. I'm out of my comfort zone putting faith in you, please don't give me a reason to couple you in with ALL the rest of the failures. Come on!

As I hear you talking about Mayfield's behavior I have to laugh to myself. We are talking about behavior that is displayed by most Brown fans that I have ever known. There is a reputation to live up or down to for the fans of this franchise. Do we forget Sam Wyche scolding Bengal fan for acting like they were in Cleveland. Or how about the throwing of dog biscuits and batteries at refs and drunken brawls at the stadium.

We have a down and dirty reputation and are considered some of the most rowdy fans in the NFL. I welcome Baker's Cleveland Brown attitude and behavior as long as he stays out of jail.

Give em hell Baker. Your just like us!!!!!

Just wait till next season, I have heard that for over 40 years!

Thought I was actually being kind.

Go reread all that I wrote and please help this psychotic soul and point me to the spot that I was getting upset when somebody didn't agree with me. Or are you saying I am not allowed to discuss and try to make sense when others spew nonsense???

Really?

It will be a lot more fun to accept Mayfield, (we can't do anything to change it now), and see what happens rather than spend the next few months hating on him and everyone involved with the pick. He is our future now. We might as well root for him to do well.

Well said my friend...it's all about how he performs at the nfl level..the past is the past..it's a new beginning for him the team and us fans..

Thinking he will succeed is the best way to think until..and hopefully not he doesn't.

It wasn't my first choice..but it is what it is...Lets win ball games and change this around.

IMO Mayfield and Ward will either make the Browns FO look like geniuses or will get them all fired and set the organization back 4 years.

Ok. He chose #6 for the Jersey.

Go watch the Presser with May and Denz. These guys are both well spoken kids.

May actually makes me feel pretty confident that he understands that the On Field antics need to STOP.

I wanted Darnold BAD. I'll get over it pretty quickly. That was the first time I actually ever listened to this kid talk.

I'm WARMING to him being Da Man May for the next 15 years.

I really like Denz too.

This is gonna work, I believe.

I really hope Hue nicknames Baker "PP" for Pied Piper

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Hasn't played a down but he already has two east-side suburbs (Mayfield Heights, Mayfield Village) and a main street named after him.

Imagine if he helps us win a few games, or leads us to the playoffs ...
