Watching last night something occurred to me regarding the trades made among teams moving up. I am not talking about the Jets move up a while ago.

It seemed to me that the price teams paid was almost minimal to move up 5 picks or more. I think one team did not even net a pick, they just swapped rounds with the "extra pick". The Saints were the exception and I thought they overpaid.

But I wondered if teams felt once you got out of the top 10 that the rest of the available players were so closely rated they did not care if they dropped down.

It's not like teams came away with a significant haul to move.

Again just a feeling compared to other years the compensation was not nearly as big for teams sliding down.

From everything I’ve seen/heard, this is a deep class. A lot of guys had first round grades that are gonna be available in the 2nd round.

It was weak on OL.

I don't think the Draft is weak I think the Browns are weak. Of course what do I know? The Browns are smarter than everybody else.

Teams are valuing draft picks a lot more. Plus no one who traded up are in a 'win now' mode and not even more desperate to make a trade.

When a running back is the best prospect available, yes it's a weak class.

Actually I believe it's quite the opposite of your thread title.

I think this draft is deeper at talent. I believe there are many players left in the second round that would have easily been first round picks in other drafts. That's why many teams were willing to trade down with less compensation.

Right now, for example, I think there are two or maybe three CB's left on the board that would have easily been mid to lower round draft picks in other drafts. Not top 5 or top 10 picks, but this is just one example of players worthy of first round consideration slipping into round 2. The drop off just isn't as drastic in round 2 at some positions as it is usually.

It's a great year to be excited about having two very early picks in round 2.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I had read a lot it was supposed to be deep at several positions which maybe answers my question. if dropping back still meant a very good player was available you don't need as much compensation to drop.

They said it was good from picks 1-12 but from about 13-50 you are getting about the same player and then depth through round 4 especially on the interior oline, safeties, RBs, and complimentary WRs

Weak, strong, average...doesn't matter as long as we keep leaving the best talent on the board.
Another bone-head draft imho.

Especially Johnny Manziel Part II. He'll get that big check in his pocket and go ape.

I like the Denzel Ward pick but there was much better talent on the board.

I really wanted Barkley. This is another pass that's going to come back to smack us down.

Draft score: C

I agree with this. I don't think it had the "top end" talent of past drafts, but the depth is incredible.

I really hope we trade back and pick up a 3/4 rounder at 33. Tons of good players left.

This draft has a lot of guys in the second round who will end up starters in the NFL so I think it will be a good draft. Not a good draft for offensive line though to be sure.

There is a lot of depth at Cornerback and Running back. Decent top end depth at QB. At DL, OL and LB it is a relatively weaker class. Not much top end with WR, but a lot of good depth, no real super stars, but decent starters.

I think there is a lot of interior OL talent.....just a crappy year for OTs. Same for DL as I think there is good DT depth but DE is a litter suspect. The draft is weak at WR, OT, and DE imo. Incredibly deep at RB, QB, and interior OL.

Depends on the positions you are looking at. Clearly it is deep at RB and we assume QB given that 5 went in the 1st round and 4 in top 10.

OT? Less so.
