I'm not a big fan of horror films. I used to like them when I was a kid, but the older I got the less I wanted to watch them. But, if a film is well written, creative and fresh then I am always interested in seeing it no matter the genre. Example, I thought "Get Out" was one of the best films last year and was hoping it would win the Oscar for "Best Movie".
So, I went to see "A Quiet Place" the other day and was really impressed. It's very tense and Emily Blunt was superb and apparently it is her husband who wrote and directed it. It's amazing how quiet a cinema can be, yet how much noise one can still hear around you when don't have noise in the film (people eating popcorn, drinking or opening candy packages). But, there is a lot more to this film than meets the eye. Quite a lot of interesting allegories and metaphors for modern life. Highly recommended.
Absolutely incredible movie. I would suggest you try to see this movie in a packed movie theatre. What the movie does to the audience is incredible. No one checks their phone, talks or attempts to eat snacks. Everyone is fully engaged with the movie. It makes for a great viewing experience.
Yea, it was sold out when we saw it. However, it is trendy in Portland to have comfy lounge style seats, craft beers/cocktails and food in the cinema. So, it was somewhat amusing that those who were eating a burger or drinking a cocktail around me were trying desperately to be super quiet.

Well now I'm intrigued. I'll be honest, when I first saw a preview for it I was not impressed. It seemed to be a very campy horror movie and I was not interested in seeing it. Just seemed like a dumb concept to me.
But, with multiple people saying how good it was, I will give it a shot. Now I want to see it.
