This is a move I don’t really get. He was our best DB and not very expensive.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Dang, this is a surprise. His salary is low, and he played well - I'm surprised we couldn't trade him.

I really liked McCourty and was urging us to give him a contract when he visited here last year...I knew the writing was on the wall for one of our CBs once we inked two guys yesterday...Just didn't think it would be our best corner...

Not shocking. We are probably going younger at DB and he was only on a two year deal anyway. Cut him loose now, let him catch on somewhere.
It's business.

It's probably because McCourty said this: "The talent in this locker room is not the talent to go win a Super Bowl this year, but this locker room is far more talented than 0-16," McCourty said after Sunday's 28-24 loss to the Steelers. "I'm kind of tired of hearing so many people say, even within the organization, is we don't have the guys or we need more guys. Let's work with the guys we do have and find ways to win games." http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2018/01/jason_mccourty_bugged_by_those.htmlWe just cut a "real" football player.

I think the feeling was mutual. Wish he was around next year, but we're going younger at CB I guess. Big-time competition with a hungry group

1. Rookie (1st or 2nd rounder) 2. Wilson 3. Carrie 4. Mitchell 5. Calhoun 6. Taylor (Soon to be Cut)

There is a reason he played so far off the line of scrimmage last year. It was not done just for the hell of it.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I disagree with this, but maybe they figure he is going to start decline and wanted to release him before hand????
But he was def our best corner last year. is Taylor still on the team, cause if he is over Court, I seriously now question Dorsey.

j/c: #Browns Jason McCourty is being traded to the #Patriots along with the #Browns 2018 7th for #Patriots 2018 6th. Pats have the McCourty twins https://twitter.com/MaryKayCabot/status/974369861995520000

Now he's traded? Perhaps it was a typo

Actually, it will be a few more than that, because of the compensatory picks between 5 and 6.

McCourty was one of our best defensive players last year. Based on his play in 2017 he should not have been cut, especially considering his salary. My guess is that there were "other reasons".

Mary Kay says he was traded... Pats probably heard he was being cut and offered a trade so they could get him at his current contract.
The Cleveland Browns - WE KNOW QUARTERBACKS ( Look at how many we've had ... )

My guess is the report came out that he was being released and the Patriots made a call to see if they could make a deal before he hit the open market. We got something for a guy we were going to release.

Of course he was. It's hard for a WR to blow past you when you have a 20 yard head start.

IDK about some of these trades, he was worth more than 6th, let alone us sending a 7th and him for a 6th. NE is fleecing us.
