I was blown away with Barkley's combine and truly believe we NEED to get him. I understand the argument that the drop off from Barkley to the other RBs isn't as huge as the fall from Fitz to other DBs. But, after yesterday's combine I am not convinced that argument is true. The dude looks like he could be better than Fournette and Zeke. I am also aware that when the box was stacked against him by OSU he struggled. But, I don't know how good PSU's Oline were and I believe with a year under our belt AND if JT comes back feeling close to or at 100% we will have a dominant line.
BUT, we also need a QB. I don't know if we go Barkley 1 and then get our QB at 4. But, there is another scenario that could (but I doubt) play out.
Trade up from 4 to #2.
#2 is worth 2600 and #4 is worth 1800. The 33 is worth 580. We could package a sweet deal with our 4, 33 and then another later round pick to move up 2 spots and get the QB we want AND Barkley.
That means we miss out on Fitz. But, we could address FS in FA.
Just a thought.

If he is there the Giants will take him. Maybe. But, they also need a QB to inherit the role very soon from Eli. I think most definitely the Colts take him if he is there at 3. I am sure all scenarios are being discussed and the good thing is we have the leverage. Say what we will about Sashi, but he has left Dorsey with MANY valuable draft assets and a ton of cash to manipulate and use to (hopefully) our advantage.

They should, that's what they need most. Whether they will or not, who knows?

Remember the Joe Thomas vs AP discussion ? Peterson was even more hyped than Barkley ( with good reason ) yet we took the Tackle. Joe was rare. Is there a LT in this draft you take ahead of Barkley ? If not, they don't take any other Lineman at 2.

I'd take JT over AP in this draft too if that were possible but I doubt there's an OT in this draft that will make the Giants take him over Saquon or a QB. But we'll see.

Was hearing the same discussion on N sports radio this morning, at least the Giants taking Oline in the 1st. Quenton Nelson was the player that the radio folks where saying the Giants should take but questioned taking a guard at #2 overall. I wonder if picking 1-2 in round 2 eases that enough. If Barkley is there I think the Giants are sprinting to the podium. If we take Barkley at #1, I am not sure what the Giants do at 2 my guess would be trade down.

With all the teams that are potentially going to try and trade up to get a QB, I don't see how the Giants sit there and take Barkley at #2. Same goes for us taking Barkley at #1.
Take the freaking QB. I can't believe this is even a discussion.

Take the freaking QB. I can't believe this is even a discussion. That wasn't the point of the thread. The point was proposing the idea of taking a QB at 1 and then trading up from 4 to get Barkley at 2. Regarding O-linemen...as long as it isn't Orlando Brown at 4 (33, sure...not @ 4)!

I would not want to trade up from #4 for a RB given we need take a QB at 1. We have a chance to make huge impacts with heavily needed positions on both sides of the ball in the situation we're in.
Crow sounds like someone Dorsey has already wished luck to and there's no chatter with talking and yeah, we need a rb, but in the grand scheme of things it seems like QB and Minkah would help the team more, overall, than a QB and rb. Looking at the other rbs, I'm confident there's a nice talent pool to grab one on down the draft. People like Guice and Jones. Guice may go in the first too but Ronald Jones could be there for us in the second. His highlights are very pleasing. Big guy consistently getting square and front ward and pulling away from corners/dbs. Or do a David Njoku and slither back into the first.
We're talking about a lot of rather high impact positions being accounted for.
