As much as I hate losing, I think this is the right way to go. Keep doing what you're doing, as the only thing worse would be to hit the reset button now.
Get a GM-light role to help out Sashi, and get an OC-light role to help out Hue.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Sorry, forgot the J/C.
There is also a lot of concern about Watson's arm. Already, his passer rating plummets 15 points when playing outdoors compared to indoors. 6 TDs to 5 ints outdoors vs 13 TDs to 3 ints indoors.
Colin Cowherd once talked about the Alex Smith phenomenon. He fools everyone at the beginning of the year in great weather but he deteriorates come playoff time when the weather turns. Guys like Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers don't change - regardless of the fine weather at the beginning of the year or the frozen and windy wasteland come season's end. Alex Smith does. Smith doesn't have a bad deep arm, as we've seen the last few weeks, but it falls off.
This is especially true in Cleveland. It gets cold, wet and windy by the end of the season. A guy like Kizer has the arm to slice the wind, but there was, and remains, concern that Watson does not.
Watson looks good so far, he's made some gorgeous deep throws, but his throws do lack elite velocity and his deep passes require that little extra arc to get the distance. By the end of the season, the deterioration of conditions could be enough to knock the ball off the mark just that much to complicate things significantly.
That isn't the worst situation for a dome team, but for us, that can really sway a draft selection. Watson throws jump balls to Hopkins and Fuller. Right now he is Derek Andersoning his way through an NFL season, but it isn't going to last. One or both of his WRs will go down or defenses are going to start forcing him into throwing into more traffic or his luck will simply run out.

What do you know about QBs? Seriously. I asked you to evaluate Jimmy G's game and you didn't have a clue about evaluating qbs. Please stop the charade.

I still believe that Hue has a strong say in who we bring in at QB. And with Watson sitting right there, I don't know for sure that Hue wanted him. You should just copy and paste this in every post you make. "Hue sucks ass and is the cause of all of our problems and our FO has done a great job of acquiring talent and building this team.

They are just making stuff up, Diam. The question w/Watson was his accuracy and that he threw too many picks. There was a bit of noise about arm strength because of the Combine velocity numbers, but most knew that was a BS number.
I am not going to beat the FO over passing on him. He had big question marks due to his accuracy and turnover issues. He is also a bit thin, which may or may not have influenced some teams.
Bro, my son and I were talking about this the other night. The internet has caused a ton of people to think they "know football," when they really don't. They read articles and tweets and think they understand the game. It's freaking annoying as hell.

These guys can all talk til their blue in the face ... seriously ... they can talk til their blue in the face about HOW GREAT EVERYONE THOUGHT WATSON WAS GOING TO BE ...
One simple question ...
WHY DID HE LAST TIL THE 12th pick of the draft ... if he was such a NO-BRAINER SLAM DUNK why was he sitting there at 12 ... don’t the slam dunk no brainers usually go a wee bit higher than that? ...
And none of the pundits thought he lasted too long either ...
This is simply a case of ...
FRUSTRATION and HINDSIGHT BEING 20/20 ...
Well, that's one way of looking at it, but let's give the other side of the coin a look. It's also the way I look at it. I expect people that get paid seven figure salaries to make personnel decisions and draft NFL players to be the true professionals. I expect them to have accountability for their mistakes. I expect a LOT more from them than the arm chair QB's in some football forum. I expect a lot more from them than I do a bunch of sportswriters who couldn't even sniff a job in an NFL FO and makes a fraction of their salaries. And why did Watson last until #12? Did you ever stop to think there are reasons why those other teams are drafting #1 though #11? Maybe their FO's simply aren't as good as the FO's drafting from #21 through #32? There are reasons why teams suck so bad they draft in the top 10. Now, with all that aside, I think it's far too early to claim Watson is a great QB. He could be great or he could be the next RG3 or Kap. The jury is far from in on that. But if he turns out to be great, that doesn't excuse the first 11 FO's in that draft from making a huge mistake.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Jim McMahon, Jeff Hostetler, and Trent Dilfer all have Super Bowl rings and weren't good QB's.
Having a ring doesn't make you a good QB and Marino will tell you that all good QB's don't have rings.
I'd rather have a Marino then have a Dilfer.

except kaep had way more to do with getting to the superbowl than dilfer.
not even close to the same situation.
so yea, if watson takes the texans to the superbowl and 2 championship appearances, than that #12 pick is instantly validated.

some of yall sound spoiled as all hell cause i'd take that in a heartbeat. Maybe they win two SB’s if the had kept Smith instead of handing the reigns over to the POS ... And the two years u mention ... his rookie and 2nd year ... then he REGRESSED BIGTIME ... Care to explain that? ... u a fan of REGRESSION especially when there at the stage of their careers they should be improving ... As usual u present only the parts of a situation that make your point look valid when in reality its only part of the story and the rest of the story BLOWS YOUR BS POINT UP ... And this is 100% what your boy did on the field .. it has nothing to with the fact hes a POS when it comes to kneeling ...

Dude took over a 6 - 1 or 7 - 1 team that was loaded ...
Looked like a HOFer his first two years ...
Then in year 3 when u expect improvement ... he REGRESSED BIG TIME ... and it just kept getting worse ...
If they kept Smith ... they may have WON TWO SUPERBOWLS ...

nobody mentioned kneeling except you, so i dunno why you felt the need to mention it.
how long was smith with san fran? did he get them to a superbowl?
and i only presented the argument that is currently being discussed right now. you talk about regression but what about the team? what about the drama between Harbaugh and the FO?
you don't think that had anything to do with it?
so yes, at the end of the day, if Watson ends up taking his team to 2 afc championship games and a superbowl appearance, that #12 trade up will be worth it for the texans.
facts.
Qb's regress and get injured all the time in this league. we don't know if alex smith would've taken them to the title game. he's been with the chiefs and they haven't done it yet either.
alex smith has a playoff record of 2-4. colin kaepernick has a playoff record of 4-2.
seems to me harbaugh made the right decision.
so i stand by my comments 100%.

You are so obnoxious and toxic that I tend not to pay attention to your posts when you go into the God mode... And what's having a clue in evaluating QB's? Do you need some kind of Klingon device, Or X man attribute that only makes selected ones know how to evaluate a player?

J/C - Sorry, I keep forgetting the J/C.
Myles Garrett, Jabrill Peppers and Trevon Coley have all returned to practice. Excellent news. They've still got two weeks off to continue getting in shape.
We really missed those three. Peppers has been iffy, admittedly, but Campbell has been awful. We're a completely different team with Garrett out there, he's a superstar. Coley has quietly emerged to be a force from the inside.
I'm hoping we can get McCourty and BBC back for the run home. Frustrating to be missing our best corners, especially with Howard Wilson already on IR.
I'd almost overlooked just how bad injuries had gotten. We've been missing an awful lot of good players. Frustrating. We can't catch a break. Hopefully the bye week lets us catch up.

If Josh McCown keeps winning games with the Jets, what does that say about last year, where McCown started a large percentage of games for the Browns who; ya know, last year.
Does that mean Hue Jackson couldn't get out of McCown what the Jets are getting out of him.
I think that to at least explore the possibility that of this Browns team,
The coach has to take ownership for the 1-15 last year the same as the players. At least a dual responsibility.
There is more to a team than the quarterback But are the Jets supporting cast really much more superstar caliber than the Browns supporting cast,
( sure) But what would that answer be, August 1, 2017

Look, I get it is real popular to bash Hue and blame him for everything while protecting Sashi. However, in my opinion yu guys are wrong again.
Get Hue some talent and see what happens.
I am NOT saying Hue is a good HC. I am simply saying we don't know yet because our talent base is so inferior. This so reminds me of the Bruce Arians conversations.

I would have been ok with Hue staying but the running crap through the media is spineless. If he has a problem with the front office, grow a set of balls and speak your mind. Running it through Mike Silver is cowardly. Freaking unnamed source my ass.

As for the botched trade widening the rift between the coaching staff and front office, Brown said that's not the case. "Hue in particular is really my partner in a lot of these discussions,'' he said. "He understands right where that is and all of the efforts that went into it. We were all disappointed that it didn't happen." http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2017/11/browns_sashi_brown_to_sabotage.html

It doesn't make much sense to fire Hue at this point. Ride him to a 1-31 record. If he makes it 2-30, by all means we have to keep him.

I would think not.

It's really stupid jacking around with this inept coach. He makes the our players look bad because of his inability to be creative with the talent we have. Then you throw his ego into it and you get 1-23. I'm not buying this no talent crap. IT'S COACH HUE! If Sean McVay had the reigns since spring, we'd be at least .500 or better. Why wait until we are 1-31 before you fire the guy. And get a real talent evaluator!

I hope not, I'll be back watching this team with this game. Took some weeks and the bye away from this team on Sundays lol, a breather if you will. However, I don't see a victory coming. I'll be instantly reminded why we're such a poorly disciplined and pathetic football team.

This is my belief as well. I think that any sort of expectations for the team were set aside through these first two years, knowing full well that things were going to be ROUGH. I've maintained for a while now that it was NEVER about 2017, everything has been being done and built with an eye toward beginning to rise in 2018. If 2018 starts like this one, though, expect it to get blown apart by Week 6.
Browns is the Browns

Yea, if we go into the bye week next season winless, everyone is probably gone.
Unfortunately that also includes a chunk of the fan base. We’ve all hinted at it before that losing takes it toll. But man....that stadium gets emptier and emptier every season.
