Akron Beacon Journal has an article describing all the Browns programs that will be on the cable stations this year. Not enough time in the day to watch all of this.

Not gonna happen anytime soon, unless the outcry is so enormous that they can no longer ignore it.

I used to work for Time Warner, I have friends still there, and they have no plans on picking up NFL Network. 2 reasons, they don't wanna pay the NFL to carry it (it's quite expensive). Secondly, they don't want to make it a premium channel, and that's part of the NFL's deal. So, ultimately, they're holding out for you the customer.

No, Time Warner wants to make it a premium channel and charge extra for a sports tier. The NFL wants NFL Network on basic cable.

In reality, it's screwing us.

If by outcry you mean people cancelling their service. People can cry all they want, but if they still send Time Warner a check every month, nothing's gonna happen.

*disclaimer* for the record, I have Direct TV and I love it.

The last time I spoke to a TWC representitive about the NFL Network, he said that there doesn't seem to be much of an outcry for it across the country.

That kinda surprises me a little and I don't have the means to verify that.

But the good news is that some House Bill passed recently opening up the state of Ohio to compitition for cable companies..

Once that takes hold, then the wheels will continue to turn and TWC will not be able to ignore the requests they get in Ohio anyway..

It's really kinda dumb if you ask me.. I mean the way TWC is handleing the situation with the NFL Network.

In my case, when we had Adelphia, first we didn't have that network, then we did and with no extra charge. Then TWC comes along and buys the assets of Adelphia and BOOM,,, no more NFL Network.. and 6 months later, the rate for basic cable goes up by $2.00 per month.

The thing that frustrates me a little is that one of the assets they bought from Adelphia is subscribers,,, ME! Then bought me,, and now they are treating me like a POS. Amazing how they can pay so much money for an asset then throw it out the window.. that's how I feel they have treated me anyway,

Hehe I cancelled my cable a couple weeks ago and they asked me why I was cancelling and I said "No NFL network" . Not the real reason, but screw TWC!

My sentiments exactly. I've got Insight Communications...they've got NFL Network and ESPNU!
