Cleveland Browns wide receiver Corey Coleman was identified in court documents linked to an alleged assault on New Year's Eve in Cleveland. According to Cleveland.com's Adam Ferrise, an indictment listed Coleman as one of three men who participated in the assault. However, Coleman has yet to be charged with a crime. A grand jury indicted Coleman's brother, Jonathan, and another man, Jared Floyd, each on a charge of felonious assault. The victim, Adam Sapp, was unable to identify any of his alleged attackers because his back was turned to them. According to police reports and surveillance footage, Corey and Jonathan Coleman and Floyd allegedly followed Sapp after an argument outside an elevator at Pinnacle Condominiums. The Akron Beacon Journal's Nate Ulrich reported the original police report stated a female eyewitness, Nina Holman, had identified Corey Coleman as one of the assailants. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/27168...urt-records-sayWhy can't we have one off season with no drama? I swear this is getting old.

I've read several reports on this today. I'm not sure of the accuracy of the report but it sure doesn't sound good. Anybody who follows a guy in a group and attacks him from behind is a punk.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

If the report is accurate, and it may not be, they said there was a surveillance camera and an eye witness.

Kinda sounds like he is tho right? I mean his brother and the other guy have already been indicted on the attack.
then we have this woman eyewitness saying Corey was one of the three who attacked the man. key word for me is she identified Corey.
idk but it stinks to high heaven.

He's got money and so do the Browns. So, he might be "innocent," no matter what.

Thanks.
I might have come across that way.........LOL
I try to point out the opposing viewpoint on many items. It's not to be contradictory or disagreeable, but just an attempt to look at things from different angles.
I have no idea if Coleman is innocent or guilty and I just want to reiterate that point.
Oh...............and I don't think you are "cranky" at all.

Isn't this "OLD" news?
I am not saying that in a manner to say this shouldn't be posted. I am just saying that he hasn't been charged. I would think the police have had ample time to look at any video and take any statements necessary.
His brother and whoever have been charged, but Coleman hasn't. I don't like the fact people Coleman knows and hangs with did this, but it looks like Cory wasn't the guy punching on the guy.

Browns receiver Corey Coleman isn’t charged but investigation continues after brother and another man are indicted on assault counts By Nate Ulrich Beacon Journal sports writer June 20, 2017 - 02:23 PM link A Cuyahoga County grand jury indicted the brother of Browns wide receiver Corey Coleman and another man on assault charges stemming from a physical altercation Dec. 31 in the downtown Cleveland building in which the player lives. Coleman hasn’t been charged. He was not named in the indictment filed Tuesday morning, but the matter remains under investigation, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office spokeswoman Kathleen Caffrey said by phone. Jonathan Coleman, Corey Coleman’s older brother who played football at Kansas State and Harding University, and Jared Floyd were each indicted on one count of felonious assault because the grand jury found they knowingly caused serious physical harm to Adam Sapp of Mayfield Heights. Jonathan Coleman and Floyd are scheduled to be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. July 5 at the Justice Center in downtown Cleveland. In a case information form filed by police on Jan. 19, Corey Coleman, Jonathan Coleman and Floyd are named as the men who “assaulted Adam Sapp.” The form also states Jonathan Coleman and Floyd “then carried Sapp’s unconscious body through a parking garage.” Corey Coleman’s attorney, Kevin Spellacy, maintained Tuesday his client had nothing to do with the altercation. “Corey has cooperated with the authorities,” Spellacy said by phone. “He continues to cooperate with the authorities. And he’s maintained he was not involved in a physical altercation at that incident whatsoever. Whether that be encouraging somebody, whether that be participating in fighting, he wasn’t involved. Period.” According to the original police report filed Dec. 31, Sapp and a woman named Nina Holman were walking toward an elevator in the lobby of Pinnacle Condominiums on West Lakeside Avenue when four men exited the elevator shortly before 3 a.m. The report states that after a verbal confrontation took place, Sapp “is unclear of what happened next, but he was woken up by Nina Holman in a stairwell” of the Pinnacle. According to the report, Sapp stated he didn’t know or recognize the other men, but Holman told Sapp that Corey Coleman was one them and she later told a friend the 2016 first-round draft pick “beat up Sapp.” Sapp stated he suffered a concussion, a ruptured left eardrum, bruises and scratches but did not remember details of the incident, according to the report. He spent the night in Lutheran Hospital. Nate Ulrich can be reached at nulrich@thebeaconjournal.com.

Browns receiver Corey Coleman participated in beating; his brother and friend are charged, court records say Updated on June 21, 2017 at 8:28 AM link BY ADAM FERRISE, CLEVELAND.COM aferrise@cleveland.com CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A probable cause affidavit filed with the indictment charging the brother of Browns receiver Corey Coleman in a New Years Eve attack says the player took part in the beating. But Coleman himself is not charged in the encounter at his downtown Cleveland condo that left a man unconscious and bleeding in a parking garage stairwell. His brother, Jonathan Coleman, a 25-year-old former Kansas State University football player, and Jared Floyd, 24, both of Dallas, Texas, are charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony. The indictment handed up Tuesday by a Cuyahoga County grand jury only charges Jonathan Coleman and Floyd. However, a probable cause affidavit says all three men attacked the 26-year-old man. Jonathan Coleman and Floyd are scheduled for arraignment on July 5. Corey Coleman's attorney, Kevin Spellacy, previously told cleveland.com that Coleman had nothing to do with the fight. Spellacy did not immediately return a message seeking comment Tuesday. Court records do not list an attorney for Jonathan Coleman or Floyd. Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's spokeswoman Kathleen Caffrey said the investigation is on-going. Jonathan Coleman and Floyd are accused of attacking the man on Dec. 31 in the lobby of Coleman's downtown Cleveland condo at the Pinnacle Condominiums on West Lakeside Avenue. The man, Adam Sapp of Mayfield Heights, said in a phone interview with cleveland.com that he never saw Coleman hit him. Sapp was getting on the elevator when an argument broke out between him and several men who were getting off the elevator, police reports say. Sapp said the fight was broken up by several people. Sapp walked away from the group. Corey Coleman and the two others followed him, surveillance video shows, according to Sapp and police. Sapp was attacked from behind and didn't see his attackers. He said he never saw Corey Coleman. The men knocked him unconscious and left him with a burst eardrum. Jonathan Coleman and Floyd then carried Sapp's unconscious body through the parking garage and left him there, according to court records. Sapp suffered a concussion, a ruptured ear drum and multiple bruises during the attack, according to police. He was taken to St. Vincent Charity Hospital. Sapp said the attack left him unable to work. He is a personal trainer and was unable to work for several months while he recovered. "That's peak weight-loss time, too," Sapp said, pointing out that he was attacked on New Year's Eve. He lost out on a job opportunity as a trainer at a boxing gym in Parma Heights, he said. Sapp said he's been upset with how long it has taken to get charges brought in the case. He said he believes it would have been a quicker case had it not involved a Browns player. "It's been an aggravating six months," Sapp said. "I'm going to keep fighting for justice no matter what. If they're not treating all citizens the same way, that's disappointing. I just want an equal shake." To comment on this story, visit Tuesday's crime and courts comments section.

Coleman was an awful pick when it was made. He's an awful pick today. He'll be an awful pick two seasons from now.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

There should be surveillance video and the original report indicates there was an eye witness of the altercation.
Hopefully Cory was smart enough to stay out of it.

This kid better have a kill of a season and stay healthy or he's really going to start getting the bust label applied. I know a lot of people already calling him a bust.

No problem. Parts of it are "new" news. The fight itself was on New Years Eve. The first reports came out in early Jan. If nothing has been able to stick to Corey to this point, it is unlikely any will.

I just don't see why the three of them had to follow this guy and attack him from behind.
he should have never put himself that situation to begin with. especially if you are trying to get drafted.
i really hope he did not hit that man from behind.

I have no idea if he is guilty or not and won't speculate. However, the guy proved to be somewhat of an undisciplined hot-head last year. Ran his mouth too many times w/opposing players and taking swings. He needs to get his crap together and let his play do the talking.

Do we have another meathead on our hands? A guy that throws it all away on stupidity? I hope not. But if he is convicted of a felony he's going to serve at least a little time and then face suspension after that... The window for an NFL player is VERY small. Any deviation can end a career....

No charges will be filed against Browns receiver Corey Coleman in downtown Cleveland attack By Adam Ferrise, cleveland.com aferrise@cleveland.com CLEVELAND, Ohio -- No charges will be filed against Cleveland Browns wide receiver Corey Coleman in connection with an attack on a 26-year-old man at the building in downtown Cleveland where Coleman lives. Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O'Malley said in a statement on Tuesday that DNA evidence tested by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Coleman out as a possible suspect in the case. Court records filed in that case state that Coleman took part in the fight, but O'Malley said the evidence never showed that Coleman was part of the Dec. 31 beating that left a man unconscious and bleeding in a parking garage stairwell. "The investigation into this felonious assault has failed to produce sufficient evidence that Corey Coleman was a participant," O'Malley's statement says. Coleman's brother, Jonathan Coleman, 25, and his roommate Jared Floyd, 24, both of Dallas, were previously charged with felonious assault in connection with the Dec. 31 attack. They attacked the man in the lobby of Coleman's downtown Cleveland condo at the Pinnacle Condominiums on West Lakeside Avenue, investigators have said. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges. The man attacked at the condo, Adam Sapp, previously told cleveland.com that he was getting on the elevator when an argument broke out between him and several men getting off the elevator, police reports say. Sapp said several people broke up the fight. Sapp suffered a concussion, a ruptured ear drum and several bruises, according to police. He was taken to St. Vincent Charity Hospital. Sapp said the attack left him unable to work. He is a personal trainer and was unable to work for several months while he recovered. Corey Coleman's attorney, Kevin Spellacy, said that his client denied the accusations from the beginning of the case and was happy with the resolution. "I'm impressed with the county prosecutor and Cleveland police department's diligence in this case," Spellacy said. "Obviously Corey's denials are consistent with the evidence and we're happy they came to the same conclusion." http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2017/08/no_charges_will_be_filed_again.html#incart_m-rpt-2
