Has anyone checked this out yet? Let me first say I watch absolutely no reality tv show, but I heard some folks talking about this one on a radio show and it sounded really interesting.
Basically there are 9 teams of 2 people each that have to evade authorities for 28 days. The teams of "hunters" consist of former White House, FBI, US Marshalls, CIA, Navy Seals, etc.. Pretty much people you don't want to find you. Any team that can make it gets a quarter million bucks.
I'm an episode in, and I have to say it's actually pretty good. Like I said, I am not a big network tv/reality tv guy, but this is a bit different.
The rundown for how this works:
You are given an hour head start to get away.
I don't believe you are allowed to use your own money, but they provide you a bank card with 500 bucks in it, and you can withdraw at any ATM, 100$ at a time.
You have to last 28 days.
There is a 100,000 square mile area that you have to stay in. It spans across Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Florida
The only thing the hunter needs to do is come into physical contact with you. A simple tag like the children's game and you are out.
What they didn't say but I seemed to gather on my own is that they send a camera man (who is obviously with you the whole time) and I don't believe you are allowed to do any prepacking. When you get the go ahead that you are officially being hunted, you can start putting your stuff together, clothes, food, etc. My guess is the camera man also doubles as someone making sure you aren't doing that.
They also don't say what happens if one person in the team is caught but the other escapes?
They also don't specify if you are allowed to trespass.
Also, the hunters are allowed to go into your homes and go through your stuff.
I'm definitely hopeful this turns out to be a good show, but the first episode at least hooked me into the next.

I've caught a little of it, it's kind of interesting. and I don't believe you are allowed to do any prepacking. I heard, unconfirmed, that you apply to be on the show and one day they show up and you are on the run with just a few minutes to pack. I suppose once you apply you could get some stuff ready but they don't want you coordinating an elaborate plan with accomplices... the whole premise of the show is for you to evade them on your instincts... not pre-build a concrete vault in your back yard.

I'd like to know who has a job they can leave for 28 days at the drop of a hat.

This show has been on in UK for 4 years, they just adapted it to US, I have my reservations about the legitimacy on the part of the hunters and the rules..but it is entertaining, better than watching some of the other garbage reality tv

My wife's comment upon watching was, "Oh great, they are basically showing criminals how to avoid the FBI and the techniques they use to track them."

Your wife makes sense, you should listen to her more. They say the show started in England. How stinkin hard can it be to find someone on an island??? It will be better in Murica!

They still give you a radius you aren't allowed to leave in the US that is smaller than the entire island of England...
And I know my wife is smart, she reminds me almost every day.

Finally watched my first episode last night. (episode 3. Never got the first 2 recorded)
Leave the phone at home. Don't call any friends. Better yet, leave your phone with someone not involved.
Hit the woods/forest.
Like I said, I've only seen 1 episode. But dang, (and I know reality tv is really "made for tv") they can trace a lot. IF you leave something traceable.
I think I'm going to like watching this show, even if it's as made up as other "reality" shows.

I think I'm going to like watching this show, even if it's as made up as other "reality" shows. Yeah, we've enjoyed watching it. I still wonder if it's completely genuine, or if it's hollywood'd up at all. The general concept is a really cool idea though.

It's about as genuine as any other "reality" show. And that means: not real at all. And don't take your phone, or a lap top, or any electronic device.

Sure would be a good time to have an identical twin or triplet or even better quads. That could trip them up a bit...
