We got socked in by a snowstorm overnight. You can see the depth of the snow in this picture.

I'm glad to see that our snow plow drivers go through extensive driver skills training to be able to handle this tough conditions.

I miss Oklahoma sometimes, bro.

You guys treat one snow flake like it's Armageddon and Bruce Willis failed to detonate the asteroid.

It's a lot deeper in my neighborhood. All the schools are shut down and I think the National Guard may have been put on alert.

I just took this from my garage.

Even the bunnies are taking their evacuation route.

That means all the wolf spiders are posted up in the houses as well.

I'm dressing in layers to go into my garage. I'm not actually going outside in his blizzard.

Looks a lot like our first snow we had overnight here in the Nashville area. All the schools are closed because of that less than an inch of snow. lol

This storm is supposed to come here tonight/tomorrow.

The news has been flipping out about it all week.

The roads are being brined like a thanksgiving turkey.

We've had two storms already in the Portland area this winter. Both bringing snow, one added ice. Tomorrow we're in line for another ice storm. I've been in Portland 16 years and can't remember a winter with this much atypical weather...and it's only early January.
I've got enough wood for the stove, and generator with enough power to run the fridge and the entertainment center. So I'll hunker down tomorrow and hope for the best but know I can get through the worst.
Hey PDX and clwb you ready?

I'm ready! I normally take the dogs to the gorge on the weekend for a nice long hike/run but, will skip this weekend and go early to Forest Park instead. I have probably 1/2 cord of Doug Fir and some leftover Cottonwood...Will be a nice toasty weekend by the fire. If we don't lose power....I can listen to a bunch of records, watch Homeland/Sherlock/Lions v Seahawks etc. We're all good, brother! thumbsup

Have you seen California weather today?

They're predicting up to a foot of rain for large portions of the state.

It seems California was recently under drought conditions. I guess not anymore.

That's the unfortunate part of getting so much rain so quickly. It doesn't have time to soak into the soil like a slow soaking rain does. A lot of it runs off because it's simply too much, too quickly. It may help the water table some, but it does little to help soil drought.

Wow.

The snow is almost all the way up to the dirt. I can barely make out the bottom of the grass.

We got about a foot of snow in the SE VA area. The snow plow can barely keep up. Schools will be closed for a week or more.

Freezing rain here still. My back deck is a skating rink. The walk to the hot tub this evening will be a treacherous one.

If they put gold chains and sideways hats on those patches of black ice, the roads would be a little safer.

Strong winds in Colorado today.

Trucks knocked over, trees knocked over, roots pulled out of the ground. Roofs and other debris flying around. 150 mile stretch of highway closed to commercial vehicles. People laugh at the south for how they react to snow. Today the south probably got a laugh at Colorado for how they handle tropical storm winds.

The grandkids schools were closed today because of the less than an inch of snow we got on Friday. So you're damned right I make fun of them! lmao

Did I hear right when skimming through the channels today? Are they going to get 7 or 8 FEET of snow in some parts out west? 7 or 8 FEET????? crazy

Man, I hope everyone out there has plenty of provisions because that much snow takes a long time to melt.

How far west? Go far enough and some places measure in geisha girl feet, really tiny.

It's freezing tonight on the east coast of Canada. We had a winter storm overnight Saturday, by Wednesday, rain and mild temperatures will be upon us. Snow will melt fast.

I had to go to the grocery store to pick up a prescription the other day and get something to make for dinner. It was the day before the supposed snow storm. No bread, no milk, run on toilet paper and paper towels, lines 10+ deep at registers.

We had a ton of rain, some brief no snow flurries, and absolutely no snow accumulation the next day.

It's freaking amazing.

Heavenly ski resort reported 60 inches in the last 48 hours.
