So here's a breakdown of the standings as it is now and who we should be rooting for to have the Eagles pick, with 5 wins, to be as high as possible.
The teams with 5 wins currently: Chargers, Saints, Colts, Cardinals
4 win teams: Bengals, Panthers, Rams
3 wins: Jets, Bears
It'd be nice to see the 49's, with two wins, get another.

I honestly don't see the Eagles winning another game.
I feel like the Jets and Bears don't have a chance of winning 3. So it's really about those 4 and 5 win teams winning a couple more.

So be a Bengals, Panthers, and Rams fan especially over the next few weeks.

Thanks for the info. Slight correction, the 49ers only have one win.

root against the eagles, titans, and the teams they've played lol ... so i just root against the entire league

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Per Bleacher Report, Browns currently have #11 overall

With just four games remaining, it's looking like the Browns will wrap up the top spot. But Cleveland's best chance for a victory may be coming up in Week 14. The Browns will host the Cincinnati Bengals in what could be their final realistic chance at avoiding the 0-16 season.

Here's a look at what the Browns may do if they land the No. 1 pick, along with the rest of the first-round mock draft. The draft order is accurate through Sunday's action, with the full-season strength of schedule being used as a tiebreaker.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2679752-2017-nfl-mock-draft-post-week-13-breakdown

So we'd have #1, #11, and #33

but according to this site, we have #1, #9, #33

if that second 1st round pick is top 10, I'd be pretty damn happy.

Yeah ... 7-8 weeks ago it looked like it'd be mid 20s

I remember after the Atlanta trade I was rooting hard for them to fail..

They came out like 1-3, and it looked like they could crash, but had some big comeback win and eventually made the playoffs..

We need SF to win another game to lock up the 1st pick in the 2nd round..

Though all this will be moot when RG3 leads us to 4-12..

Ya but if the eagles lose and the bengals roll us it moves to 8.

I knew that, I just typed it incorrectly for some reason. Thanks for clarifying though.

Guys...if I understand SOS as tie-breaker...then if both the Browns and 49ers finish at 1-15 then they will have 1st pick since they're SOS is lower. I want to avoid 0-16 but I think 1-15 and the #2 pick is worse!

The 49'rs play the Jets, Falcons, Rams, and Seahawks. The Jets and Rams are their best shot at getting another victory. Root hard!

Realistically, let's assume we get the #1 pick ... what are the chances the FO will trade back again? They'll most likely deem no QB worthy of selection.

Would they be able to take the PR hit? I think many people would be angry

I could see us trading the Eagles pick or the Titans pick in round 2. I doubt they'll stay in the same place during the draft. I just hope these trades are worth it.

Should have said "I believe" this is what they'll do. I expect Trubisky to continue rise and solidify #1 slot...it happens every year with at least one QB. Seems risky to expect him to fall to Browns second 1st round pick. We need a QB so take the one you feel has the best chance for success and don't look back. We've always had our pick of the leftovers but not this year. Don't get cute and try and draft someone later in the draft.

As for the second first rounder, I think this is where they'll try and get value from another team for next year to move down a little. Looking back at the draft there is talent throughout the first round...this is part of the analytics strategy that I agree with - more of a shotgun approach to the draft. If the draft is a crapshoot then more picks means higher chance of finding good players. Unless you're one pick away (Julio jones) I think trading up ends up burning you (Trent Richardson, RG3).

So far Philly has held up their end of the deal and lost.
The Bengals, now with 5.5 wins moves behind Philly.
The Panthers got their 5th win.
The Rams are playing the Falcons so I don't hold out much hope for that.
Let's root for the 9'rs over the Jets. Giving us a one win cushion. Just in case we fall into a win.

That's correct.

Hope every team Frisco has played to keep winning. Strengths SOS.

Hope every team we've played loses. Weakening our SOS.

I agree I just don't think the Jets can get to 6 wins. Not sure how'd it play out if they tie the Eagles with 5 wins.
Still have the fear of us winning one and ending up with the second pick in the draft behind San Fran.

Probably not likely you're correct. Unfortunately Philly is way behind on the tie breaker. We need to root for the chargers, saints and panthers to win. All 3 have a tie breaker over the Eagles right now.

I wonder if BB would take one of our 2nd rounders for Jimmy G? That way we could draft Garrett or Alen 1st and the bestOLman with Philly's pick. Then maybe a good Safety in the 2nd.

I was just thinking about where the Browns were last year. They had the second overall pick.

They ended up w/Corey Coleman.

LOL............let's say I'm not too confident in this FO choosing the right guys no matter which picks we end up with.

If Philly loses out, I will be surprised if it's not a top 6 pick. They are sitting at 9 right now. However, I think LA, Carolina, and New Orleans will win 1-2 more games. New Orleans has a strong chance of winning this week against Arizona. Carolina could beat Washington, but I don't see it.

Moving this to a thread that makes more sense:

Updated SOS to reflect SOS of all 16 teams played, not just the 13/14 played so far.

CLE: 0-13 [0.550] @BUF, vs. SD, @PIT
SF: 1-12 [0.505] @ATL, @LA, vs. SEA
JAX: 2-11 [0.538] @HOU, vs. TEN, @IND
CHI: 3-10 [0.526] vs. GB, vs. WAS, @MIN
TEN (f/ LA): 4-10 [0.507] vs. SF, vs. AZ
NYJ: 4-9 [.493] vs. MIA, @NE, vs. BUF
CAR: 5-8 [0.522] @WAS, vs ATL, @TB
SD: 5-8 [0.538] vs. OAK, @CLE, vs. KC
NO: 5-8 [0.538] @AZ, vs. TB, @ATL
CLE (f/ PHI): 5-8 [0.567] @BAL, vs. NYG, vs. DAL
AZ: 5-7-1 [0.464] vs. NO, @SEA, @LA
CIN: 5-7-1 [0.512] vs. PIT, @HOU, vs. BAL
BUF: 6-7 [0.469] vs. CLE, vs. MIA, @ NYJ
IND: 6-7 [0.495] @MIN, @OAK, vs. JAX

Currently at #1 and #10. Philly will end with the strongest SOS of all the teams currently 5-8, and would be picking after either team currently 6-7 should they win one more game than either of those two teams from here on out.

The 49ers blew their best chance to win this weekend giving up a big lead again Bryce Petty's Jets. If we win a game, we pick #2.

Jacksonville has three divisional games left, which means three chances to win. Tennessee is their only home game of the three and that team has been playing the best in their division. Probably will finish with 2 wins total. Hopefully IND beats them.

Chicago choked away a chance to win this weekend, and have three games left against division opponents all trying to make the playoffs at this point. Will not win more than one game, so will not affect our draft standing.

The Rams have a home game left against San Francisco and will be coming off a week and a half rest. Their morale is horrible right now (see Gurley's comments after last week's game) but will probably want revenge for that opening season humiliation against the 49ers. It will come down to whether or not they can beat Arizona at home week 17 to see if they can get behind the Eagles. Probably like a 20% chance they can do it.

The Jets have to win TWO more games to bump Philly, even if Philly loses out, because of SOS. however, Tannehill is out for the year, so if the Jets can play with a "nothing to lose" attitude this weekend against Matt Moore and the Dolphins and if the attitudes/blame game in Buffalo are bad enough by week 17 that they could squeak out a win, there is an OUTSIDE (10%ish) chance they could get behind Philly's pick... again, if Philly loses out.

Who knows with the Panthers. Like I said last week they beat the Chargers but seems doubtful they could rally against a playoff contender these last three weeks. Probably another 20% chance or so they win another game, with only one game at home and it's against Atlanta.

The Saints, who just lost at Tampa, have Tampa at home next week (not this week.) I think they'll probably win that one despite tampa being on a big streak. They play at Arizona this week. I think probably a 70% chance they win again this year.

The Eagles get to play Baltimore coming off a Monday nighter, but it's a road game. The home game against the Giants makes me nervous. We'll see who is playing and who is resting week 17. seems like Philly will probably get one and maybe two wins still.

San Diego will probably beat us, but if they and Philly both win a game, Philly's pick will be after SDs.

Arizona will probably win one between the home game vs. NO and the road game @LA.

Cincy could lose out at this point despite looking good two weeks in a row. Houston is fighting for their divisional crown, is playing at home, and sandwiched between their two rivals. My guess is Cincy loses out. Hopefully they beat Baltimore, but I doubt it.

Indy should beat Jacksonville and Buffalo should beat Cleveland and Miami.

so if I had to guess, I'd say Philly wins one more game and we end up picking 1st and 11th. Probably Garrett and either Tabor or Humphrey, whoever makes it that far. If Philly manages to lose out, we could end up with #1 and #7, or maybe even #1 and #6, which would put us in play for both Garrett and Jamal Adams with our top two picks.

Seems pretty unlikely that we get a top 6 pick out of Philly, even if they lose out. It would require either the Jets or Bills to win two more, and Carolina, San Diego, and New Orleans all to win a game.

With Sproles out in concussion protocol I just don't see Philly winning another. He's been Wentz' outlet and he's a threat that isn't just replaced with the next guy up. Maybe it's only one game but I'll take it. Another thing to consider is the competition in the other games will be playing for their playoff standings. Philly will get their 'A' games.
I hope I'm right.

A simple breakdown for this weekend...
Obviously root for the Eagles demise. Which is not necessarily the same as rooting for the Ravens to win.

Teams with 5 wins to root for...
Bengals over the Steelers
Panthers over Redskins
Cardinals and Saints both have five wins so it's a wash this week.

Teams with 4 wins needing to get to 5 or beyond...
Jets over the Dolphins
The hapless Rams got squashed last night.

Finally root for the 49'rs to upset the Falcons. Again I want that one win cushion.

not a wash. Arizona is already behind philly's pick in draft order because of their tie. Geaux Saints.
