On the positive side, the seemingly new trend of charging parents who, by either malicious intent or incompetence, provide the gun to the shooter being held legally responsible is a refreshing step in the right direction. Owning a firearm is a right but also a responsibility, and the former shouldn't exist without the latter. Most gun owners understand this, but the ones that don't literally ruin lives (of the victims as well as their family and friends).
