we have tons of depth at OL. we could have gotten other needs taken care of. We had pretty good depth at the Nose as well. We have three now. But hey, what does it matter? We don't have a quarterback, we have no pass rush..... we weren't going to win much no matter who we took. Is what it is.... As long as Farmer is GM we will never draft weapons. No we had crap at the nose. Phil has been a disappointment and never lived up to the pick in which he was selected....another H & H bust. Kitchens is a solid backup but isn't a starter. Phil didn't play Nose last year. They had him at END. how stupid. Phil was a perfectly acceptable Nose the previous year under Horton. Hughes played well there as well. Kitchens as well. Now we have another. NONE of those guys should be playing end. So keep Kitchens and CUT Taylor and Hughes. Yes, this kid may be an improvement. But it wans't a NEED. We NEED a pass rusher. We NEED a defensive end to bookend with Bryant. But once again we will play a big fat slow DT out of position at end and wonder why we never touch a QB. 31 sacks again. Woo hoo.

Guess we are expecting Mack to go? Mack gave us two years and that was the compromise. We'll ask if he's interested, but EVERYONE already knows the answer. He's gone. But if there's a slight chance he stays, than Erving plays guard or tackle. Or if they know where Mack wants to be, maybe try to trade him there now. Doubt Mack can pass an NFL physical right now...but that's an interesting idea...We all know Mack wanted out and still probably wants out...

Shelton was our first round pick, this guy is just filling a need with a free pick.

Shane Ray to Denver, Colorado. He has got to be happy. . . He has to be happy, and the Broncos gave up a fair amount to get him. They must really love him, with the foot injury, and the drug issue and arrest.

I find it hard to describe my level of hurt.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Good point I haven't thought of. I would trade Mack now if the offer was right. It is the only way this pick makes sense. LOL,to Philly for Bradford, both 1 year guys

At least the Steelers drafted the biggest bust of all in Bud Dupree, lol
Still a bad 1st for the Browns though

The Steelers and Broncos walked away with two of the top 5 pass rushers in the draft.........and we got OL depth drafting ahead of them both. There is a reason the Browns continue to suck.

Does anyone think we can get a 4th round pick for Phil Taylor to a needy 4-3 team? I sure hope so, and we make a deal

I would dump Phil if we could find a taker. I'm just not convinced your going to find anyone to give you a 4th for the guy.

It makes sense with both Mack and Schwartz being FA at the end of this year. Browns will have good depth and a high round OL C/T to jump in, with a year in the system. If he is not already penciled in for RT this year.

I like Taylor but I don't like that he's always hurt. He's no primo pash rusher though.
That's our DL though. There are some capable guys, but none of them keep DC's up at night.

Erving at RG is an upgrade and you now have Grecco as the backup and he is a hell of a backup. This kid is nasty, he plays well to the whistle blows and then some. If mack goes elsewhere we have his replacement, if he stays we have Wow what a freaking line!

I know your not happy with this pick, but the more I think about it the more I'm coming around. I didn't think we would spend a 1st on OL depth, but we all wanted to upgrade the OL depth, well we did. And we don't know the behind the scenes deal with Mack. It could be that he has let them know he's gone at the end of '15. This is a good move to break the kid in at RG RT and if need be he can slide to C in '16. They did say that they thought he would be a PB at C.

Taylor is this...I'll use a game I focused on him against Baltimore in 2013...a game in which he was trash talking with the Ravens..Phil Broke a double team somehow and tackled the RB for no gain...He then was single blocked the next play...and couldn't disengage from a single block for maybe 5 whole seconds...Flacco had all day...Phil Taylor didn't do anything else that whole game.

Shaq Thompson was nuzzling...Carolina needs another WR, has one of the most iffy Olines...can use another CB...yet take a project cross bred LB/safety

Solid picks by Farmer. The Browns let the draft come to them, and addressed needs with BPA's, IMO. We should defense the run much better than last year (when we were among the league's worst, if not THE worst). With Erving we now have a ready C if Mack decides to vacate, or if Mack stays, a guy that could even replace Joe at LT when he decides to retire. In the meantime, he's starter quality at any spot on the line.
At 43, I hope we go either Tevin Coleman, RB, Indiana or Devin Smith, WR, Ohio State.

We had, when healthy, a top OL in the NFL When you have to add the disclaimer, "when healthy", then you need to do something about your depth to cover the possibility of one of your top OL becomes "not healthy". We could bring in the type of guys we tried to replace Mack with last season. Chumps who couldn't do the job. Typical OL depth is full of those types of guys. Our current OL depth fits that category. You know, the type of player who doesn't help a bit when a starter goes down. We got Erving with the pick from the Bills where they took Watkins. I'd take an Erving over a Watkins every day and twice on Sundays. We're doomed at QB unless JM shines this time around. The worst that could happen to our QB's would be to lose a G or the RT or the C. Erving is protection against that happening again. And, like you said and most people think is going to happen anyway, he's major replacement if Mack walks. And this time it won't be replacement with a chump.

If mack goes elsewhere we have his replacement, if he stays we have Wow what a freaking line! Greco was our best Guard last year. He was a top 15-20 Guard in the NFL last year. So we draft a guy to send him to the bench with massive holes among playmaking positions on our team. Yeah, that makes sense.
